I know this is an older video, but I appreciate Kuja as the FFIX villain. In the finally moments, he had such character growth. Although, in the FFVII orignal first play through, you did feel the mystery and then decend to a horrible mental state to complete madness from Sephiroth. So, I think it is definitely valid that he is number one. I just also love how flamboyant Kuja is!

In regards to FFT, you failed to mention the one person who truly *could* be considered the main villain of the game: Vormav (Folmarv in WotL). Ultima is only summoned and doesn't really do anything in the plot. The one that affects the plot the most behind the scenes and is pulling most of the strings is Vormav.

You know, Final Fantasy XV actually novelized the intended DLC as a novel, dawn of the future. Bahamut should probably be considered.

wow. i beat ff13 back when it came out, and i didn't even remember that there was an antagonist. i only remember fighting against the clock to not becomea crystal or something... in any case, yeah that villain was so generic i didnt even remember he existed.

My top for villains would be the previous president of Square Enix he's the final boss in the franchise and his Final Fantasy NFTs is the strongest blow this franchise has ever received him canceling the FFXV DLCs and sell the western SE studios for pocket change were also a rough attacks that hit hard on our life points tho (and who can even say what type of damage he will still do even after he retired with the decision to make Ever Crisis a Gacha) FFXV Ardyn he's overall brilliant incredibly deceptive and later on even managed to turn his apparent "softness" into threatening unpredictability since he was truly playing with the cast of XV he was an actually fleshed out character we came to know and understand (and i even pitied him after the whole he killed that person and caused this and that effect cooled down years later) he is the second FF villain in terms of the damage they caused destroying and entire world and keeping it without sunlight for 10 whole years (he's also op unable to die unless ... wich is kind of a typical FF villain power by now but on top of that he is capable of controlling time and even corrupting and subjugate gods and XV Ifrit was no joke if you know XV lore) FFXIV a guy who's name starts with an E for reasons ... (I also feel you placed Gaius from XIV too low he probably feels you're awnsering him the "do you believe in Eorzea" question with a no haha) XIII-2 Caius (ik you said only mainline but idc i have played them so im keeping them in my list i would definitely put the villain of the first XIII game last tho) he's not *a* but *the* Final Fantasy "villain" who did the most damage by dooming an entire world and what he did lasted for 500 years he also was the one that actually got everything he wanted he died as he wanted he freed the Yeuls from the cicle he beat Lightning and even spared her life he was relatable and epic at the same time i wouldn't even be joking if i said he's one of the few things i actually truly liked about the XIII compilation (he's also OP AF can't die stops time and he got even stronger after he died and in FFXIII Lighting Returns him and the Yeuls are actually the ones who take care of Bhunivelze since he was healing after Lighting and the others attacked but it was actually Caius and the Yeuls who kept him that way) FFVII Sephiroth (the one from OG VII wouldn't have made it this high up for me but after summing up Crisis Core Advent Children and Remake plus of course OG VII) yeah i would say nothing comes even close in epicness he just never felt relatable the ones above him do that's the one issue i have with Sephiroth we never really get to understand him and the reason he just flipped he is however without the slightest doubt the most epic motherfucker that ever set foot in gaming no villain has the drip no villain has the presence no villain has the scenes Sephiroth has Square Enix truly loves this man and it really shows because no one except a few protagonist usually get as much love by constantly getting badass moments in every possible entry as Sephiroth does his fights are truly breathtaking (and despite that not being a personality trait its one of the reasons i love the character) i also feel that in Remake he managed to intrigue me much more than many other villains especially with that "i will not end nor will i have you end" line he said to Cloud it was amazing and i can't wait to see where SE goes with that after Remake part 3 hits he might even find himself as #1 FFX Seymour i have never hated any character more than i hate this man that's all there is too him i hate him so much that i see him as a great villain for that reason alone he's perfectly implemented (its a shame he isn't very threatening and never got to kill anyone we cared about to keep that tension up) (if he was Yu Yevon i wouldn't even include him he's nothing but a drone in autopilot by the time we meet him and Jetch ... he ain't bad) FFXII Vayne i love the man's charisma and darkness he is political ambition given shape within a Final Fantasy setting (I didn't find his Final form funny tho i would have rathered nothing else i also feel that XII should have had Vayne obliterate a good chunk of the forces of Rosarian empire to show how effective he was as a leader and also what the power he had been craving could truly do) FFVI Kefka he's the most unpredictable out of all the OG FF villains he is number 3 in terms of the destruction he caused he has the most scary and unnerving laughter in gaming (leave it to Square to think clowns laughter sounds like that hahaha) he also had a very cool introduction but that's about it he doesn't have much depth and him being a magical copy of the Joker thematically also doesn't do him any favors for me FFIX Kuja is sort off relatable and imo a better character than Zidane but i didn't lose my mind over anything he did to be honest (the Garland part was a step up for him tho) he wasn't very threatening either FFIV Golbez (i don't count Zeromus nor The Creator) second best FF villain out of all the bits are FF after Kefka he might have been better if they hadn't overplayed the whole mind controlling situation but that did happen so he's here Golbez is also kinda relatable and one of the few who got out alive FFI Garland because "Chaos" and "i don't give a fuck who you are" i had fun with the spin off he also has great musical taste 😂 FFVIII Ultimecia cryptic but can't relate to her Edea was a much better character imo but it is what it is FFII The Emperor i really hate his guts but unlike Seymour i didn't got to understand Mateus he's nothing but basic greed to me (at least Seymour had a fucked up backstory) FFIII Cloud of Darkness same as above Xande is a better character but i didn't like them very much i did find Xande's rage to be justified tho (im tempted to give an E the win here LMAO) FFV Exdeath in one word lame i didn't get anything from Exdeath I never played FFXI so idk where or what to put here lol from Tactics Delita for reasons ... XI and Tactics aren't part of my list so they're not in order

Hold up, VI below VII and XV? Kefka WASN'T number 1? My guy, he wins! He does the one thing pretty much no other mainline FF villain has done: he set a goal, and accomplished it. He destroyed the world. And it's not like your victory over him fixes that. Dude's actually kinda depressed that there's nothing else for him to achieve anymore. So you kill him and have to start rebuilding the world, the end. In the case of Sephiroth, he has the cool factor and that's it. And funny enough, that's kind of why you gave him the win over Kefka. But to counter your other point, Sephiroth WANTED to become a God, but Kefka ACTUALLY became a God. I'll concede that Sephiroth is the most iconic villain. But best? Hard no.

Smh at the disrespect of Kefka Palazzo here. The greatest Villain the FF series has ever known! But, what do I know? I think The Legend Of Zelda and Super Mario Bros/MarioKart are the greatest video game series of all-time.
