I personally disagree with this entire ranking but you know what, that’s completely fine. It’s bc he has given us a clear and detailed walkthrough of his perspective and thoughts about each company’s music and didn’t say anything disrespectful or something, which is why I always enjoy watching these videos since it’s also creative and isn’t an overused idea from other ktubers.
yeah me too, i do completelt disagree but every one has their own choice, for me yg would be top 1 bcz its their music which i heared very firstly and its music is also the reason that i not only got into kpop but entire music genre
Love that sm is so high, but not even mentioning shinee?! That’s a crime. I also agree with how high jelpi is ranked. Eau de Vixx is one of the best albums I’ve ever heard. Funnily enough, sm and jelpi are my lowest ranked in terms of management
I love your ranking. Starship and SM songs are usually on my playlist. Especially Starship title tracks. I'm a huge SM stan but they do get some skips. However, I like how they always have an out-of-the-box idea when it comes to their music.
Pls do a part two. I want to know much more about company’s and what other think about the company’s. I really liked the video. Pls a part two. I would also like them to rate the company, e.g. scandals, dealing with fans and more
i love how you come up with kpop content that’s outside the box of the normal standard kpop content! juice, i want to tell you that your videos are amazing and i hope you get the recognition you deserve for your content!
I appreciate the apology for the lack of EXO. Especially since EXO and Red velvet’s discography makes up 70% of my kpop playlist. Like no one does rnb better for me.
I recently discovered WJSN because of Bona’s drama and I am genuinely surprised at how good all their title tracks are. Like literally, their debut is probably their ‘worst’ one and they just kept building up from there. I thought, finally a company who’s able to choose proper title track. Then I went ahead and checked their B sides and they were really good as well. Safe to say now I am a Stan.
I agree to this list ngl. MX, Cravity,Sistar, Wjsn has such an amazing discography honestly. They're actually a very good entertainment music wise but they treat their idols poorly :/ also Vixx's entertainment is so underrated :")
Not really. Starship promo team maybe shit, but otherwise they listen to their artistes. An example would be WJSN spoke to their company about the lack of personal activities in 2020, and look where they are now, they are always on TV. You can see Dayoung doing home shopping, and she used to be a DJ on Naver Radio and KBS. You can see not only Bona on dramas, but Exy, Dayoung, Eunseo, Yeonjung and Seola are also hving their acting breaks. Lastly, their lesser known members are also appearing a lot on variety shows and youtube contents, something that is rare for other company idols.
@@salbenrosli707 I'm angry with starship because of the lack of comebacks and other activities. And the way they couldn't even defend wonho. I never could believe that I'd have to see MX without wonho but starship made it true so yeah
@@salbenrosli707 they also let mx make their own name n place in the industry. The members have participated in every cb albums n everything else. If you watched their movie, you can see the company let them do whatever they want when it comes to their own performance, stage, outfits n even how the concept should be. The company even let Kihyun express his rock side instead of doing what the company wanted for his solo debut. Also I am proud of wjsn bc how far they came. Dayoung especially bc I know how hard she worked at a very young age n yet still have that energy that keep going.
i agree with sm and starship honestly. with starship they never release bad title tracks. but sm has the better bsides for me. make one but with title tracks only? the idea of ranking companies is amazing
I personally love the groups under SM entertainment. Every group is so talented and shines in their own way. I love almost every group in SM and their songs never dissapoint me. For me i did place SM in #1
SM music is mindblowing because the diversity and quality in their artist music is top notch. There are some that hard to digest for everyone, but it always creative and very true to their artist concept
I'm a monbebe...and besides the things that the fandom have against the company 😅 I love the fact that every single group have their own color and even inside of the group (I'm gonna talk about Monsta because it's the one that i know the most) you have a song for each kind of mood and even different types of music.
my top 3 were literally the bottom 3, but i can't even feel bad since everything you said was so concise and well worded. these video ideas are so unique and very interesting to watch! a breath of fresh air in the kpop youtube world, truly
include exo discography, shinee discography, boa discography and ses discography as well. now sm is first (I don't stan corporations btw) I only like the groups and soloists songs.
@@reecegraham6921 prior to Billlie's debut, they were in the Mystic Incubation Camp training system and in a pre-debut group called Mystic Rookies. I don't know the key difference but it appears they focus on the diversity of the idols.
@@itsiraa the predebut group sounds like SM Rookies. My guess is that the incubation camp is prob a pre-filtered selection round to select the members for Mystic Rookies
Oh wow, Starship as number 1! I'm a bit biased, but i literally started being a kpop fan after listening to monsta x songs. Like their discography are always almost flawless even their english albums. Also, i listened to Sistar and wjsn songs, and they are just so unique and catchy. Wjsn always have amazing b-sides btw. For cravity, i dont really like their music that much, but their b-sides are great. Also, i'm a huge fan of IVE, their debut song Eleven is just so iconic, the entirety of south korea knows that song. Anyways, cant wait for their comeback with LOVE DIVE on 5th April!
Agree 100% with this ranking.... STARSHIP is by far the best company out there in terms of management. They do bring out one popular member in the 1st year on variety shows , but they do it to all members once the name of the group is out.
Starship finally getting the respect it deserves. What's cool about starship too is Monsta X has always been involved in the writing process. Now Jooheon has been composing some of their best title tracks.
Starship is literally shit at hyping and promoting their artistes, but as their talents shows, their artistes are literally self promoting themselves based on their songs, and the company whose artistes are easily visible on TV and radio. You can see Mon X on Radio, WJSN on TV Dramas, Ive members hosting music shows. Only Cravity needs that break to find their niche somewhere. And it helps that their seniors, MX and WJSN are writing songs for their hoobaes' discography
I love how nearly everyone has a different ranking from 20th to 2nd place but we all agree that Starship music should be in first place. It's mindblowing how a company can pull so much sh*t, be bad at promoting and managing but still produces so talented artists and good music.
I loves the music diversity in SM music production. My personal pict for number 1 in kpop fot music quality. I enjoy a lot of starship music production too, so i kinda agree with that number 1 in this videos. Monsta x is really talented, especially their rapper
The thing I like about RBW is that they give freedom to their artists to make music - meaning that they produce, compose, arrange and/or write their own music (I'm sure other companies/artists do too). They also make time to help each other out (Ex: Cya writing the bridge for Purple Kiss' Zombie). Everyone has a personal preference in music but yea I never skip most of Mamamoo, Onewe, Oneus and Purple Kiss' songs.
This was a really interesting video, I can't imagine how much work it must have been! I think I'd overall agree with the general trend of most rankings, but in the details it would probably be very different. XD One thing confused me a little, why did you take all the self-produced songs by Gidle and Pentagon out of judging Cube, but kept all Onewe music (which is almost entirely written and composed by the members) in for RBW?
@@vayupuri2056 That's not the point at all, the question is why exclude idol produced songs for one company but not the other. Not that it really matters, it just confused me a little.
Oh well I guess I would say that in retrospect after learning that onewe has self produced music, thank u for that info, they kept rbw from being lower on the list
I would love to see you rank rookie companies like Highup (StayC) or NV (woo!ah!), etc. I feel like we as fans don't talk about these new kpop companies enough
Starship totally deserves to be #1 on this list! Just look at Monsta X's discography, it includes more than 30 different genres. If you are not familiar with their discography, let me sort their songs by genres so that you could make your own opinion out of it after giving it a listen! PUNK ROCK: UNFAIR LOVE PSYCHEDELIC ROCK: MYSELF ROCK WITH PUNK INFLUENCE: DESTROYER ELECTRONIC ROCK: GAMBLER JAZZ: MIRROR NU JAZZ: SECRETS ACOUSTIC: SORRY I'M NOT SORRY ACOUSTIC POP: SWEETHEART, WHITE LOVE, I GOT LOVE POP: MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT POP COUNTRY: YOU PROBLEM FOLK POP: BLOW YOUR MIND GOTH POP: MERCY CHILLHOP: BEBE SYNTHPOP: ROLLER COASTER, NO REASON, BLAME ME SYNTHWAVE: RECKLESS BALLAD (CLASSICAL): BROKEN HEART POP BALLAD: MISBEHAVE, ONE DAY, THE DREAMING SOUL: LONELY CHRISTMAS GOSPEL: AMEN ELECTRO HOP: QUEEN, CALM DOWN, FALLIN', LOST IN THE DREAM, HEART ATTACK, OH MY!, GIVE ME DAT, DISASTER, BURN IT UP ELECTRO POP: NIGHT VIEW, IF ONLY, I DO LOVE U, SOMEONE'S SOMEONE, SHE'S THE ONE, NEWTON BIG ROOM: PLAY IT COOL MIAMI BASS: TROPICAL NIGHT FUTURE BOUNCE: ZONE FUTURE STEP: KISS OR DEATH FUTURE BASS: MISS YOU, SHINE FOREVER, MOHAE, GHOST, TURBULENCE DUBSTEP: HERO ELECTRO HOUSE: STEALER TROPICAL HOUSE: STAND UP DEEP HOUSE: SECRETS, WHISPERS IN THE DARK JACKIN' HOUSE: AUTOBAHN CHILLWAVE: WHO DO U LOVE? Not to mention Starshit has/had artists that have ballads, opera?(I remember they debutted a duo who's vocals were insane and I haven't heard the one song), edm(they have two djs. One under Highline and another is an MX member), hip hop, etc
You know what else is crazy about this long list of songs in 30+ genres? I love and can remember the distinct tune to almost every single one of them which speaks to the extremely high quality of Monsta X's discography on a microscopic level. I've never once felt Monsta X was either resorting to the "whatever sticks" method of producing or trying to mimic other groups. Despite dabbling is so many different genres, they've always maintained a signature sound.
Starship as a management is shitty but they got real good eyes for talent. They have Some of the Kpop's best vocals, rappers, visuals and dancers from both girl and boy groups. Shut up, they got Joohoney, the rap god and Kihyun, the vocal god.
Personally I have 80-90% of Mamamoo's discography on repeat and the other 20-10% are at least ok... but I get it, it's really freacking diverse and at the same a good amount of ballads, so it's not for everyone. I love music in general, and I love the mix they have on their songs the jazz and r&b underlines are right up my alley. I have many pet peeves tho, but it's all on the producers. I love their solo projects.
I enjoy mamamoo's previous stuff but after a certain point, their music has just been going downhill imo. It sounds completely uninspired and lacks creativity, and a complete shift from what i loved about mmm (their 'quirkiness' and playful music (though decalcomanie and egotistic, wind flower were good)
i love love this type of content that tends to focus more in discographies as a whole! very interesting because i would def rank woollim and fnc higher but is completely understandable why
I love all groups under RBW, Mamamoo was my the first grouped I ever Stan and I sad that they aren't promoting Mamamoo as they should, like I understand they trying back away from the saying "Mamamoo's company" but there's a better way than not promoting them.(Btw I disagree w/ Mamamoo bsides)
Same here!! I’m a big RBW stan. Mamamoo specifically is my ult, and I totally get it. Though I do enjoy some bsides, some just aren’t my style but that’s fine because it’s always so diverse and wide ranged so everyone with different taste can enjoy.
@@cee4967 Yeah, I like all of the groups under RBW, however, MMM takes my soft spot. Personally, I actually enjoy most of their b-sides which is kinda strange (maybe I've fallen too deep). Either way, it breaks my heart seeing how they've been underpromoted in the recent years, and I have no idea how they can somehow break free from the current limitations given to them.
Monsta X brought me to kpop and even before completing the video i was expecting starship entertainment to be #1. Also I'm waiting for Monsta X's new album 'Shape of Love'
Shocked you failed to mention SHINee in the SM catagory. Imo SHINee changed the game and I'm sad to see you didn't talk about them much. Have you checked them out much? If not, I highly recommend it!
I mean, he didn’t mention BoA, Girls’ Generation or TVXQ and they are also super influential. He probably either 1) hasn’t listened to a lot of their songs 2) perhaps isn’t a huge fan of those artists/groups or 3) Didn’t have time to mention EVERY SINGLE act under SM, which is a lot! I’m sure there are other soloists and groups he didn’t mention. I don’t think it was a sleight against SHINee, just he couldn’t mention everyone.
@@LizzyLoves91 I never said it was a sleight against SHINee haha. I just think it's pretty agreed upon that SHINee and F(x) have the most influential and experimental sounds of SM groups so I was shocked to not see SHINee mentioned. All SM groups are very influential but those 2 are the ones that I think a lot of SM fans agrees are THE groups musically.
This video must have been so much work!! I really love this take on something like this. Though I disagree with the Onewe thing, I do agree in the fact that RBW picks and chooses who they promote. *cough* Vromance. But my taste in music is one of the most lenient things ever. But overall, I love this video!
I personally love SM, They have created a blueprint, you can say ''that's an SM song'' I love how they're not afraid to play with new things, RANDOM things and sounds that end up becoming a trend, viral, etc, and other companies would automatically start doing... They are such trendsetters
A lot of people think Mystic is a sub-label of SM, but I've heard they're actually a division of SM. Which is why the Mystic artists have profiles on SMtown site. Meaning they are pretty much a SM group but just a different branch of the company.
i was literally fast forwarding this video to see if starship made ur list (I'm a starship stan) and boom I was so shocked to see it was no 1. but where's the lie? their songs are truly phenomenal
your videos are always so unique and respectful. I was never into kpop youtuber stuff because usually they were just straight up like 'im right and your wrong' without giving any reasoning but you take it to another level! it's really enjoyable to listen to these 😆💕
I really enjoyed watching your video during my lunch break :D Usually, people rank kpop companies based on how well they treat their idols, but you did something better! I am happy to see "mid tier" companies' groups at the top 10! One company I like (for music) didn't make the top 10, and I don't mind. There're other groups from companies that, together, have better music 😊 *Yaas Jyp groups in top 7!*
as much as i hate starship for managment and hndling controversies *cough cough* Wonho, i've currently stanned all of their groups and soloists, there discography for each group is too good, they try out different genres and yet they are all still good at handling those different genres whether it be the cosmic or mature for wjsn, summy or sexy for sistar, manly or just straight up boy crush for cravity, monsta x has usually kept similar concepts but each title track is so different, their b side tracks for all groups are just amazing i never skip. Although starship isn't the best at managment, good job for keeping such strong groups in the industry for a long time.
I’m sorry but the discography of any sm artist clears the entirety of starship, like SES, EXO, Red velvet, F(x), SNSD, and Aespa have near flawless discography
I think we all have to appreciate Starships like they really put out songs like Eleven Love Dive I Swear I Like That Touch My Body Alone Give It To Me Ma Boy Hero Fanatasia Unnatural Save Me Save You Secret Easy and so much more... like they already won
anyways, this video was a real treat to watch! as someone who's kind of obsessed with kpop companies i really had fun with it, even if i was being nitpicky earlier. i might not agree with some of your opinions, but i can definitely see your point; i can also see just how much time you've put into this and i truly appreciate that! thank you so much for the video :D
im so happy you put wm so high up!! onf and oh my girl are the two groups (out of three) which i personally think have the best kpop discographies. they honestly have never gotten a skip from me and oh my girls recent comeback is soso good, def my top one company and it makes me happy to see other people enjoying their music as much as me :)
I personally prefer Mamamoo and Onewe's music if anything, but I agree with what you said about RBW's priority. I wish they promote Mamamoo and Onewe better, especially since Mamamoo is one of the first few groups I stan atm. ;;; Also Vromance
truly cannot believe cube is so low. they have some of my favorite discographies yes including bsides. personally I haven’t ever listened to any bsides from 4minute or their boy groups beyond pentagon but clc have some of my favorite albums, gidle are my ults, and even lightsum’s 2 bsides are very fun and enjoyable to me
I feel like I always comment on your videos to talk about DKB, but Im so happy to see you talk about their discography. In my opinion its flawless, I cant wait for the next cb
I agree with most of these tbh. I would’ve given number 3 to jellyfish and 2 to starship instead. SM reigns number one for me. Maybe it’s the sheer volume of music they put out. Number 4 would’ve been pledis but I don’t like the new music the artists are putting out, sadly.
I just found out about this video. Interesting. I'm not into kpop that long but surely I know many popular groups and their iconic songs. I agree with the big 4 positions. I also agree that YG is the lowest. I can't say much about other companies because I don't listen to their discography that much. But, I can comment about Starship. I don't expect Starship would be the first rank in this video because I think many kpop fans don't talk about it much. Of course, it is personal preference but I think Starship deserves high rank for their music quality. I found it first from Monsta X, they truly have badass songs and their b-sides are great. Bcs of them, I try to listen to other Starship groups and I am amazed. I think Starship's idols have their respective identity, but personally, for me, Cravity is confusing at first but as you said, they are in good direction now, especially with their latest cb. Wjsn deserves higher hype, too. I might be biased but I think it's okay, we talk about personal preference here.
I’m a little confused as to why Cube ranks low because the company doesn’t make the music when the groups are being ranked based on how good their music is O: I don’t particularly care about Cube but…
It's a really odd way of ranking. Admittedly, it is very difficult when you are comparing large companies and small ones when your criteria is "how many songs/style do I like" so it is very objective
@@towiiwot AB6IX largely self produces, with a lot of their music being written and or produced by Daehwi, so in the same vane I’m confused why they’d contribute to Brand New Music being placed low
I'm so happy about your opinion on WM music in general because even if they all have literally almost no skips between the 3 groups they still are pretty underrated and at this point I don't understand why
omg Its exciting to see Mystic Story so high!!! Definitely do check out BEG's discography and Gain's solo music, they got some of the most unique music & concepts to come from 2nd gen! Mystic also had alot of great soloists like Minseo and (formerly) Lim Kim
Starship seriously has the best artists but the truth is that they don’t deserve them especially Monsta X cuz they are easily the most talented kpop group ever.
Yessssss, felow Minjae stan I agree with almost everything in that list, FNC would probably be higher on my list but you won me with Starship in first and SM in second that's exactly my opinion. My personal top 5 is 1. Starship 2. SM 3. FNC 4. C9 5. Woolim
17:40 but... purple kiss' music is mostly self-made? chaein has composed and written a good part of their discography along with yuki for her rap lyrics (by their first comeback yuki was already the second most credited 4th gen female idol only behind soyeon), swan literally wrote and co-composed ponzona as a trainee evaluation song, and every member was credited at least once both on their debut ep into violet as well as hide & seek. chaein also has many self-made songs on their latest ep memem, along with yuki and other members being credited as usual. i suggest you look into their credits more because what makes you like purple kiss' music, just like mentioned with cube idols like i-dle, is actually the members themselves. most of the work certainly didn't come from rbw from what we've heard so far oh and as a bonus: dosie, ireh and chaein have also worked on choreographies for the group as well :)
SM used to make some fantastic music about two or three years ago and very few title tracks have made it to my playlist since then except for Don’t Call Me, Next Level, Hello Future and INVU. I love old Red Velvet (Bad Boy, Russian Roulette, Psycho, Peek-a-Boo, and Red Flavor), EXO (Obsession, Love Shot, Monster, and Tempo), and NCT (All of Resonance, Superhuman, Regular, 7th Sense, Kick It, Cherry Bomb, and Fire Truck). Maybe my music taste is basic but I’m not a fan of experimental music just for the sake of being experimental.
I mostly agree with you. For example, I'm a huge stay (stray kids fan), but that doesn't mean that jyp entertainment is my favourite(let's be honest, most of stray kids' songs are produced by themselfs😂)
i mean dude you mentioned most of the companies i just dont get it why you didnt mentioned Happyface ent. they are home to Dreamcatcher, Dalshabet, D1CE, maybe they dont have so many groups and they are small but Dalshabet from the 2010s were such an iconic group in Korea, also nowadays Dreamcatcher is the g - group who is trying to breake through the cute/girl crush buble in the kpop industry, even you dont like their taste of music i will get but, i think you should at least mentioned them, its not a easy job to come with unussual songs in this industry.
@@y0ung5one yeah i know i was thinking that but he sayed so much things about songs and etc. i think Dreamcatcher's efforts are at least deserv to being mentioned as much as with their company aswell
