Hey Felix from Golden sun. I loved your game as a kid and entered a drawing of you into the county fair when I was 16. Good to see you are alive and well. How's Wayard?
No hype, no over emphasis on price or materials...just pure enthusiasm and appreciation for knives, use and design. One of the best knife videos of recent history💪💪
Outstanding, Mr. V! Subscribed and Notifications on! Bring it! Your insights are always interesting and informative. I love that you don't fear challenging conventional wisdom, or confirming it when you agree. Looking forward to more videos!
Most exciting knife debut yet. The intro! The collection! The hair! But seriously, your insight into what makes knives excellent is unique, informative and genuinely beneficial to the conversation. Instant subscribe. I can’t wait to see what you share next.
I bought the Spyderco Watu based on your presentation of "underated" or "less well known" knives on KnifeCenter. I really like it, too. I also spent some serious money on a Arno Bernard knife with no regrets. Thanks for sharing your insights!
Really love this general well thought out overview of your knife collection. So much info to unpack. Will watch this or at least parts of it many times to come.
Hey man, what a whooper of a first video, and well done. Im 15 minutes in presently but really connect with your preferences and thought process. Spyderco is probably my favorite brand overall, and moki is so underrated. I love backlocks and Japanese knives. The Stretch and more recently the Leafjumper are some of my all time favorite users.
Wow, you have alot of obscure Spyderco models that I haven't even heard of before! My personal favorite Spyderco is the Canis. Im a sucker for a good wharncliffe and Im just disappointment that there aren't alot of other knives out there on the market that do as good of a job of being a tactical wharncliffe as the Canis does. The Yojimbo 2 comes close but the tip on it gets so thin near the end of the spine that I get nervous that the tip will break opposed to the Canis that has a beefed up tip on the end instead. Plus that Taichung QC really seals the deal for me choosing the Canis over the Yojimbo 2.
Very cool having another spokesman from a company with no biases and a true knife collector! Looking forward to more videos, and very witty channel name 😀
Excellent video Seth! I wanted to comment probably 100 times but didn’t wanna miss the next knife while typing. So overall, awesome and I agree with so many things you pointed out! Best quote, “I would carry it more…if I had less knives”, I couldn’t relate more!
For anyone else curious about the intro song, closest match is the song b3 from Chuck Person's Eccojams which is mostly just a slowed and looped part of Baker Street by Gerry Rafferty. The saxophone part isn't in the Eccojams version though so was maybe edited back into the song
Seth! Happy to see you on the tubes~ The set up looks clean. Had to mention… I’m a para 3 cruwear fan! I’d the straggler wants a fam in Japan, I’m the man. 🎉 looking forward to the next video and beyond! ❤
Great video man ! I totally agree with you on the Stretch XL G10 needing scales to match with its swagger. I made myself some Unigold fatcarbon scales to go full "Pimp my Knife" and can't say enough good things about it now.
No collection is complete without a little Sanrenmu knife or two :D My first "quality" locking knife from some 6-7 years ago is a little SRM 6040 that resides on my car keys to this day. It is for sure my most used and useful knife (besides the ones in the kitchen), it came to the rescue so many times. Until I bought it, my idea of a pocket knife was either a swiss army knife or a rickety, wobbly fleamarket Chinese knife. When I felt that solid lockup and overall sturdiness of a such small knife, I was blown away. I was so frustrated I could not flick it open with the thumbstuds like I saw on the Youtubz. Bear in mind it is a stiff, tiny, backlock, but I eventually got it to flick out after many hours of practice, polishing the washers, tuning the pivot, etc. Don't get me started how my brain exploded when I got one of their 7010 Sebenza copies. After that the big SRM Land 911, the rabbit hole got deeper and deeper... To this day I have hoarded over 120 folders, from various brands and price points. Still, the SRM 6040 remains one of my favourites.
I almost didn’t watch this simply because it was over an hour, but I’m really glad I did. The highlights for me was the High position of the Enzo./Bisa knives. I’m in the UK so I have a number of Enzo PK70's which have been, and remain my favourite UK EDC knives. I have been collecting for over 50 years, and obviously have accumulated a lot of knives, but the Enzo is hard to beat!
That is the fastest I have ever heard Seth talk about single knives LOl. Him saying he needs to go faster to get through the video and then still taking the same amount of time on each knife. Cool collection. Thanks for sharing.
Seth, I was already a fan. You completely won me with this. I agreed with nearly everything you said. I love my Delica Wharncliffe. I agree with you regarding tip down carry on the Spyderco Military. Lastly, I have had more than a few CRK Knives go in and out of my collection. I was recently able to purchase a Large Sebenza 31 and I went with the Small Inkosi. For me, they are the knives that I compare everything else to. All the other knives are "in addition to" what I consider the best investment one can make when purchasing a folding knife. The Sebenza is almost as good as cash. They hold their value. I owned more expensive knives and was left wanting. I have a few Spydercos and a couple fixed blades on my want list. The only other thing I will buy are CRK folders. Your calm, insightful presentation is greatly appreciated. I will watch this again.
Best collection video on RU-vid. I have gotten board with knives as of late and this reinvigorated me and gave me new ideas on things I might like to try. It is great to see all the oddball knives you have.
Very cool to see you have your own RU-vid channel now! Awesome video for your first video! It's already at 15K views! That's some great results (views) for your first video on your new channel. Great job Seth!
Awesome video, was really hoping we would get something like this from you. Great knife and great picks. There’s a few I’ll have to try and hunt down. I will say I am surprised I didn’t see the spiderco kapara on there somewhere. Great video and thanks for it. I am hoping there may be a fixed blade one as well?
Seth, do you ever make adjustments to your knives? They’re technically mods but I’m talking more about quality of life improvements. I find that Emersons can be massively improved for carry and use with a few tweaks like radiusing the corners of the G10, adding a little relief in strategic places, and convexing the bevel side of the a-symmetrical grind. The convex side makes them cut more like a Yakut. Emersons are so basic but they offer a solid canvas that’s easy to modify with very basic tools. I think you’d enjoy that Emerson a lot more if you spent a little time with files, sandpaper, and stones. None of my Emersons are untouched unless they’re pristine collector pieces (but that’s kind of heretical for an Emerson, of course).
Great video Seth! I learned a ton listening to you while you explained your thoughts behind each knife in your collection. Looking forward to what comes next! I am about 2 years in on officially collecting knives myself. Keep the knowledge and discussions coming.
I agree with almost all points on the Sebenza, with one exception - i have bent more Sebenza clips than any other, Ive just caught them on too many fabrics when seated in the back pocket. Drives me crazy 😅 Amazing list - I forgot about the Hundred Pacer and am tempted all over again. Id love to put together a presentation like this but I do not have a voice for radio nor a face for RU-vid 😂 Cheers!
I want to thank you for your amazing work on this project as well as I have ever seen in anyone's knife collection!! I have learned more about the history of Spyderco in this video than I can ever imagine. I have hated Spyderco knives for their shitty handles and the ugliest looking knives ever. I have recently broke down and bought a Yojimbo 2,Manix 2, and PM2 just to have in my collection basically to make comparison with most reviews on RU-vid and shut my friends up for years of consistent harassment on my lack of experience in the hobby 😂. I have modified all of them to AWT scales and all the latest internals and I like them. I have to say that I give you some of the utmost respect for your collection and the dedication to the ability to keep all of them in the best condition of actual users and the perspective from actually working with them in edc! Fantastic video presentation dude! Thank you!
FWIW, send the 21 into CRK for a new blade. You'll wait a long time, but you'll get better steel (magna cut if they've worked through older stock) but still have the sweet lockup of the 21. The 31 is awesome, but a magna cut 21 would be even cooler.
Loved the video! It was surprisingly concise for an hour long video. It is refreshing to see a video where the host doesn't drone on for several minutes about each knife. Also, what do you think about Spyderco knives? 😂
EPIC intro! I love your taste in knives. We have similar taste. The Enzo Birk has always been a sleeper. Same with those Tom Mayo/Buck knives. I had one with the black Ti and loved it, BUT the clip needs to be flipped. Loved how lightweight it was with all those signature holes. Like you said, another modern run of those knives is overdue. Would love to see more videos from you man! I'll stick around for sure. Peace out!
Wonderful collection Seth. Now I'm stating an opinion here, that's all this is, but the drop bear being the best knife Kizer makes? It's a GREAT knife, but I'm not so sure it's the BEST. Please don't get me wrong Seth, everything you said about the Drop Bear is 100% fact, I know because I have two of them, the Ti LC200N version (which I've customized myself with my own unique style & with my own anodizing equipment & own hardware, couldn't stand the yellow into clear into blue finish) & the Medusa S35VN version, I truly love them both, they are both truly FANTASTIC knives, however another Kizer I have, that I will always truly adore, is the Titanium Kizer Sparrow in S35VN with Skiffs (I put in most of mine) a Chaves Scapegoat Street in M390 with skiffs is off the chain, although I cannot stand the skull pocket clip & I made a custom clip out of the normal one that comes in the box. Anyway, lol I digress, for my money the Drop Bear is absolutely phenomenal in EVERY way, however there's (for me) just something about the Ti Sparrow in S35VN that just feels so unbelievably right that it's impossible for it to be wrong lol I also customized the one I had, I recently gave it as a gift to a knife maker friend of mine because I wanted him to enjoy it too & he absolutely loves it, lol I had to go out & buy another which I've just finished customizing for myself, because the Titanium Kizer Sparrow in S35VN is really that amazing a tool. Take care mate.
The only CRK I own or like is the Zaan. I was surprised you don’t own a Koenig, Brian Brown, Quiet Carry, SOC, Null Knives, Techno2, Strider, Spartan, SPK, Brown Knives, so many more good ones out there.
SV! Man, this was great and id love to see you do some interviews. youre a very thoughtful reviewer, and youd kill it as someone who could spotlight designers with that same energy.
Al Mar used to be sooo good. I wish they had kept up with modern steel. I've owned a couple over the years but I ended up selling them. I can see that you are a Spyderco fan. Good video Seth. Thanks. Got a Presidio 2 as well, great knife. One of my Grail knives is the 940, I own one and rarely carry it because it's so special to me.
Chris Reeve and Wilson combat collaborating on a knife is amazing, both companies building to the tightest tolerance in their own respective fields. The fact that I didn’t know about this and Seth V is the one to tell me makes me less disappointed in myself.
I have been collecting German WW2 dress daggers for the last 10-ish years but I just started getting into more "usable" knifes. I picked up a QSP penguin since it was cheap and I needed a knife, soon as it came I was hooked and wanted to get a even more well-made knives.
I’m gonna use this comment section to spread the word that the para3 lightweight should have thinner blade stock than the g10 version. Give us a para3 with a delica blade on it!!!
Hey man! So great to see your RU-vid video AND a collection/ranking video!!! Loved your perspective and collection. I did the same thing with mine, and my medalists are #3 Benchmade Bailout (aluminum, 3V, Lynchnw clip, backspacer delete), #2 Zieba S3 Ostasz (a custom with wide black g10/TI handle and a hollow ground clip point) and #1.....😊large 31 with a s45vn drop point and black micarta inlay.
