Nice tribute! I know it's usually "classic rock"-topics that brings in the big crowds but it would be very interesting with a "Jazz-Week" or something like that on Sea of Tranquility. A period of time with only Jazz-videos. A few ranking the albums, perhaps interview with a famous jazz-player, review of some newer good jazz record... Just jazz!

I live in Shizuoka Japan where Yamaha makes its pianos. My sister-in-law, who works for Yamaha, phoned me up one day and asked me “you like Chick Corea right?” I told her yes and she made my jaw drop when she went to tell me “he came by to try the new piano we made for him and he played for us for an hour”. I paid money to see him at jazz festivals and my sister in law had him for an hour in the Yamaha studio. Magical story to me.....

If Bach was around today , he would have been a brother in vision as Chick Corea. The Vigil is really strong along with Inside Out and The Five Peace Band with John is beauty upon your senses. Thanks guys for all the love to a great Artist.

The duet albums he did with Gary Burton would be very close to the top of my list. Their first collaboration, Crystal Silence, is a landmark record in the new post-fusion jazz of the '70s. There are so many albums that Chick recorded or appeared on that I've never heard, so thanks guys for all the suggestions. I've never been much into fusion or the heavy electric band stuff that Chick did, but I loved the pure lyricism of the early Return to Forever. My top three then: Return to Forever - Return to Forever Chick Corea and Gary Burton - Crystal Silence Return to Forever - Light as a Feather RIP Chick - a modern jazz colossus. Thanks Pete and the guys.

The best 4 person band I ever saw was Chick Corea, Stanley Clarke, Al DiMeola and Lenny White. (mid '70s) Two years ago I got to see Dweezil open for Chick Corea at ACL. What a show that was too. He will be missed. One of the greats.

I first became aware of Chick back in 1976 when Return To Forever appeared live on the BBC's Old Grey Whistle Test and performed most of The Romantic Warrior album. I sat and watched it with my mum, believe it or not. At that point, I was into Yes, ELP, Camel, Genesis etc, but I'd never heard anything like this. And Al di Meola was a revelation to me. An album no-one mentioned in the video and is worth checking out is Chick's 2006 album, The Ultimate Adventure.

I love Chick. Unique musician with so many great albums in his discography. I watched this video when it was released, and i’ve seen it several times. It’s the vibe and the topic. I watch i now too, in the middle of the night in Norway. I just played the album Corea/Hancock from ‘79.

According to Dave Weckl, Corea and the Elektric Band were not working on new music in the studio. The forthcoming album was always slated to be a collection of live performances from the most recent tours. Weckl indicated that the project is now complete and preparations are being made for the release.

I saw Return to Forever at the Schermerhorn Symphony Center in Nashville. Around 2012 ish. Had Chick Corea, Stanley Clarke, Lenny White, Frank Gambale (the back up Italian guy), and Jean Luc Ponty on certain songs. They blew me away. Stanley Clarke was incredible. He played A Love Supreme by John Coltrane on upright bass. Could Coltrane himself even play his own solo on a different musical instrument? Mind blown. Chick Corea was obviously the ring leader, who put that band together. One of the all time greats in Jazz music.

Thank you for this review. Corea was a music giant. I think these programs should be divided into acoustic and electric, because Corea did a job in both fronts. His catalog is endless, but his Improvisations, and "Children song", with his first album RTF, are a magic period to dive into.

Three Quartets would be near the top for me. Heavy! And The Five Peace Band kicks major ass! Great pick. This past week, I have been adding Corea albums to a USB 2.0 drive for my car. A couple (maybe) under the radar- Further Explorations on ECM (w/ Eddie Gomez/Paul Motion), Joe Henserson's Mirror, Mirror (w/ Ron Carter, Billy Higgins), Circle's Gathering & Live In Germany. The Akoustic Band album that must be heard...Live At The Tokyo Blue Note w/ Coliatua sitting in for Weckl. Un-fucking-believable!

So many fabulous albums..But Love George's choice of Stan Getz's album Captain Marvel, truly superb. I have the vinyl of that, it'll be next on my playlist...Also Five Peace band is helluva live album. Two of my earliest LP's to own (On ECM) were the first Return to Forever album and Crystal Silence with Gary Burton. Then of course there is the awesome RTF albums....timeless stuff. Awesome tribute dudes! Won't lie though I actually don't think there's any doubt that Chick Corea is one of the most technical keyboardists. I also think you could make a strong argument that he's a more versatile and creative player than Hancock (not to insult Herbie, mind you). I think Chick is the greatest keyboard player ever and one of my favorite composers of all time.

I notice that when a rock personality dies, you always point to the sky and say rest in peace or something to that effect. Do you believe that everyone goes to "heaven" when they die? How about Ted Bundy, Ed Grin, the Hillside Strangler, etc.? Since we are all born sinners - no one has to teach us to lie, steal, or treat each other badly. Did it again...sorry! He died in our place to save us from our sins. Our belief in Christ is our "ticket" to heaven. Otherwise, you have three choices - everyone, including the worst people in the world, go to heaven; there is no heaven & we just disappear into nothingness forever; or there is a "cutoff" between bad people & really bad people.
