Thanks for the video! One thing about R as a language though. True that it isn't as widely used as Python but in certain sectors and for certain tasks it's still the go to language. I work in health care and most machine learning projects there are done in R because it's really helpful with some of its advanced statistical capabilites which are not as easily available in python. Long story short: R is a valid choice if it's more useful in your sector

@@GregHogg Glad to hear! I'm going through it right now :) I'm a working DS learning part time, feeling ready to transition from sklearn and classical ML to finally getting my hands dirty with NNs and more complex tasks. This video was great to get your views on so many resources I was aware of (I spend too much time considering options)... In the video it is free but on the link which it takes me to on coursera requires payment. Is this the same case for you
@rycarr
@rycarr Год назад
Coursera changed in 2019. They really heavily push the paid route. I’m paying because I want their certificates that go with it. But there used to be an option on the individual courses to enroll for free and a pop up would pop up asking if you want to audit the class. I’m not sure if they took that away. I can’t find instructions for auditing classes on their support pages.

Are you 100% sure about ranking the A-Z Ml course on udemy? Because im currently learning it and I've noticed that they dont go that deep into the concepts, like they only do the basics. For eg they only teach the defintion of logistic regression but not the assumptions

What about Machine Learning for Absolute Beginners by Oliver Theobold. It got some good reviews on Amazon. I was thinking about reading it but since you did not mention it, I am thinking of skipping it.
@bobueland
@bobueland 9 месяцев назад
I dived into this book and compared it to 100 pages book. IMHO this is much better book. Things are better explained. The 100 pages book is a concotion, fastly composed, not as well thought out as Theobalds book. Theobalds book starts little slow, but finishes with concrete examples and insights. Just my five cents.

Dear Gregg, Your response will be really helpful and appreciated. Would you please suggest me a course/book/...etc related to python skills for machine learning. I would explain I've enrolled in ML course by using python so it's started with with some ML python parts I don't know about it. however, attending full python course may cover topics not required for ML . Please guys put likes to let him pay attention. Gratitude.

Partially due to your recommendation I bought 'Hands On Machine Learning' as a beginner and I strongly discourage anyone new to programming from buying this book. It jumps straight away and in my eyes very chaotically into projects with many programming and math concepts without explaining either. Moreover the installation guides already need updating and aren't available for Windows. In all, I do not recommend this book to beginners.
