@drkst3577 melee weapons should a high risk,high reward weapons.they must have a higher damage and less range than the other classes.their armors and accessories should give them higher move speed and dodge chance than other classes so they can keep up in close range.
Maybe because bosses late into the game literally forces you to keep distance, melee does need projectiles or long ranged weapons. Every class does need long ranged weapons, not just melee.

No matter how much defense, damage reduction or dodge chance you have, you need long range. Thanks to God you arent in Re-Logic or Calamity mod dev team. Just go fight with Exo Mechs or Calamitas with a short ass weapon and see how bad it is compared to a weapon that gives you safety.
Melee isnt a Ranger with infinite ammo. There is a lot of differences between both classes. There is a reason why The statement "melee is ranger/Mage without ammo/mana" is not True and plain wrong.

@@Lemony123thre are many small ones but ill say 3 primary differences 1: melee swords almost always do more damage when the sword is in contact with the enemy, 2:melee weapons are designed for closer range while other clasees have further range, you will notice while usng a projectile sword in base terraria it almost always is outclassed by ranger, mage and summoner options EXCEPT when in close combat (calamity dies a worse job at this). 3: melee weapons with projectiles (like enchanted sword or starfury or terrablade and basically all of them im pretty sure) always have limited range in some way while other classes often have infinite (except summoner ofc). Bonus (its less or a primary one) : melee weapons with projectiles always have a unique design to arrows and bullets like slashes or swords comming out
DONT LET BRO COOK. the guy only sees the dmg of weapon, but is to lazy to test dps. Iridiscent excalibur has by far the biggest dps out of not true meele swords, also provides healing on true meele hits, it is the strongest endgame meele.
Draconic destruction is really good on some situations as well, it obliterates Thanatos in the boss rush, for example (and any enemy that has more than 1 part being honest)
@@vthor9003 using specific weapons on boss rush is exclusive to death-master playthrough imo, cuz on all other diffuculties its a breath, only scal poses any threat really with her bullet hell attacks. But yeah it is more effective on scourge or thanatos, or any worm boss tbh.
@@megasapoyt3081 he put knives in S when they do like half the damage of Excalibur and heal for like 5 hp when you have more than 1k at that stage. They are cancer bad. Also Earth is criminally low, it's unironically as good as (if not better than) IE and the Hammer with the correct accessories.
Excalibur is the only one deserving of S tier it just outclasses the other weapons in dps so hard, except earth. I understand why earth is low but it’s still so strong when you can hit things. But Excalibur is just by far the best.
the iridescent excalibur is better than the hammer of might in my opinion, it has the same base damage and not too much less range but with each color of beam doing a different thing it can be pretty good if you are lucky
Earth has the highest true melee dps illustrious knives heal less than vampire knives Triactis has the least dps out of the post game melee trio of weapons
The hammer is strong but tbh it's kinda boring. Considering the awesome quality and VFX of (most) other things in calamity they should do smth like a rework or at least a visual overhaul
