Your retelling of what happened to the 6th doctor is incredibly wrong (the “director”loved Colin and genuinely thought that costume was a good idea) but generally I agree with most of this. The season 18 fourth doctor fit is the most dripped out the doctor ever was though that fit is incredible even with the subtle gold question marks that weren’t visible half the time.
I’m actually really glad you told me that, I didn’t know I was wrong. I was told by a Doctor Who nerd that he hated Colin and even showed me a video about it (admittedly only a few minutes of an otherwise hour long video) and had me believing that. I truly apologize for getting the information wrong, thank you for correcting me! I appreciate it a lot! :)
@@JoviTheVAI think what happened is a confusion between the “director” and the lead executive of BBC who wanted to end the show and slept with Colin Baker’s wife.
@@ashhinman1919yeah this, most of what you were talking about happened but it was someone who wasnt working on the show and wanted to kill the whole series because he personally hated it lol
@@JoviTheVA so the person you used pictures of was the producer JNT who adored Colin. He casted Colin with no audition primarily because of how great he was as a guest at a wedding. You’re probably thinking of one of two important people didn’t like Colin, the show’s script editor and the controller of BBC1. The show’s script editor took out his frustration by excluding the doctor from plots (he’s basically absent for the first half of his only dalek story) and generally not doing a great job characterizing him. Meanwhile the controller of the BBC was less mad at Colin and more the show overall which he cancelled, until having to change to an 18 month hiatus followed by reduced series after public outcry.
You know, in 11's defense, 3 and 8 also found their outfits at random hopsitals and that turned out great for them. Maybe he figured it was a tried and true method for clothes shopping.
6 actually ended up getting a blue suit early on in his Big Finish run after a phenomenal arc that mellows out his character and makes him not a egomaniacal sociopath. But tbh I kinda like how the rainbow coat matches his insanely showboaty personality. It's loud, and I think it's the best of the 80's outfit philosohy of making the doctor's fit a costume. Also the 8th doctor's fits are fire, triple S tier, best outfit, best tardis interior, best doctor (once you account for big finish and the rest of the EU), McGann Sweep.
You bring up good points actually, never really thought about it that way. I haven’t watched much of 6’s run but from your description, it seems the outfit matches him pretty well!
They did put the Sixth Doctor in a blue version of his outfit in the extended universe, comics, some audio drama covers, etc. and as you suggested it slaps
Honestly 13’s coat looks better in the Flux flashback time-stream things where they have Jodie as Fugitive with her coat inside out so it’s navy with grey accents
Tennant came back when Whittaker regenerated because the show was going into its 60th anniversary year and it wouldn't have been fair on a completely new actor to carry that weight on their shoulders going into what would've been their first ever episode
I personally love 6s outfit, what saves it from being terrible is that in episodes/in motion you can see how nice the quality of the coat is and it just works for Colin in my opinion. also I cant get enough of those question marks on the collar so maby I'm a degenerate
I'll wait for the time when Doctor Who fans start jokingly pretending that the 6th Doctor's outfit is FIRE🔥 and BASED🗣️ until they actually like it. That will happen... Eventually.
I already like it, because it's not *boring*. Technicolor vomit is much better than the mono-brown outfits or whatever it was Sylvester McKoy was wearing.
Man please make more Doctor Who related content. This was an enjoyable and hilarious video. Your voice and dry wit is perfect for these types of vids. Plus 11 is my favorite Doctor but have to agree his purple jacket is his best look.
I wasn’t planning on making any more Doctor Who content but now I’m tempted to lol, just don’t know what I’d even talk about. But I’m glad you enjoyed! Thanks for watching 🙏
Tbh I wish SHE was the 13th doctor but at the time of recording the video I completely forgot about her, but I do like her outfit! Especially the glasses, she looks good
It's funny that you mention Sixie would look way better if the coat was blue because that does actually exist, albeit unfortunately only in some comics and audio dramas
I just wanna say that your so entertaining like holy especially with all the funny cat reaction images, where did you get those from anyway, I agreed with most of the things you said, but I think 6 is where it goes dogshit, instead of 5, I really like 5's outfit (though it shouldn't've had those STUPID ? marks). also don't you DARE diss the 9th doctor that one looks so good and I don't see what's wrong with the 11th doctor's hair
I didn’t like the first season hair the 11th Doctor had, but once he started styling it in the next seasons it looked marvelous! And thank u for the compliment lol, I just find random images online or on instagram and just take em and use em for reactions pics ;p
The 2nd Doctor's outfit is certainly goofy, but it's intentionally so. Part of that incarnation was that he outwardly appeared very goofy and unthreatenning. I'm also going to have to disagree with you about the 7th's umbrella; while I do think the question marks aren't great on the actual clothing, with the 7th being the worst offender in that department, the umbrella I feel works surprisingly well. Anyway, good video!
Also what was SO dumb was that they didn't put david tennant into jodie's outfit because it was too "feminine" blud david tennant has literally done DRAG MULTIPLE TIMES. also russel T davies is promoting gender equality n shit so why didn't he just put him in it??
Completely agree. I thought maybe it was a result of the Toymaker messing with things but it wasn’t ever mentioned, the Doctor can just spawn clothes now I guess
You should watch the commentary track for Four to Doomsday (second story of 5th Doctor). Janet Fielding (played companion Tegan) sums up the whole JN-T era with "never trust the aesthetic taste of a man in an Hawaiian shirt" ETA and then spends a good potion of the time just critiquing costumes visciously
You killed me at “4 is a fucking crack head” Controversial opinions. 3 is S tier I like the red question mark on the collar. I like 6’s rainbow ass outfit. 7 gives me “fun uncle” energy. 8 looks like Snape. (but yeah his outfit tight as hell) 9 looks like he listens to grunge music. 11 looks like a FUCKING NERD. 12 looks like he’s paying tribute to 3 and I love that. I like 13’s stupid hiking boots. And 15 is GOD tier and he’s got more than one look to him love him.
we have basically the same opinions, if maybe for different reasons, but i will say free my man cricket boy!!! those cream colours are a nice change from all the previous darker costumes, especially with a younger doctor since it gives him a softer, youthful look rather than a harsher, mature look. I do however hate the question mark motif too, that's some cornball shit. but out of all the classicwho outfits, i would say it goes (imo) 3, (8 if you count him), 4, 5, 1, 2, 6, and lastly 7th. with nuwho, personally I think it goes 12, 15, 11, 10, 9, 14, and then 13 because i really just don't think it's flattering at all, she looks like a little girl playing as a doctor. at least that's my rankings edit: i forgot the war doctor and honestly we should be counting fugitive too. i think war doctor goes before 9 and fugitive goes after 9.
No one talks about the problem with 14’s fit is his low waist pants! I’m sorry, but those kind of outfits do not look good with low waist pants! Just raise the waist a few inches, and I think the outfit actually would’ve looked good
"martha and bill deserve better" SO true. they're two of my favorite companions ever and bill especially is so unappreciated i agree with ten as an incarnation overall being in B or A but i think his black suit + bowtie + clean black converse is such a good outfit and on its own i'd put it up there with fourteen in S
I didn't think to add the tux because it didn't feel original enough, it's just a tux, yk? That's why I only stuck to the fits you can see them regularly wear. The tux just doesn't feel good on them I think. It's a weird thing to explain idk.
Thirteen is autistic representation with that outfit. The earrings are great and I really want them. But also I love that Fugitive Doctor mocks her pants. You forgot to mention Ruth. I think her outfit was great. You should tell me which companions have the best fits.
Ok so nobody’s gonna explain the celery from a lore standpoint? Ok so I guess I will. The doctor is allergic to certain gases and when those gases are present the celery turns purple and he eats it thus saving his life
The reason 14’s clothes are so tight is to reflect his completely deteriorated mental state. The reason his clothes regenerate with him is because Russell T. Davies thought the tabloids would get transphobic if he wore Jodie’s(almost comically unisex) outfit.
First point is cool, makes sense, I like it! Second point SUCKS but I understand. I just wish people weren't so hateful of each other. David's worn women's clothing before so this shouldn't have been an issue, but yeah unfortunately some people just can't help but complain about trans people simply existing. It's really sad.
@@JoviTheVA the thing is that 13’s costume barely even qualifies as “women’s clothing”, it’s very unisex, and I believe Jodie Whittaker got the idea for her Doctor outfit from an image of an androgynously dressed woman.
@@JoviTheVA u didn’t miss much, only thing good about her era was inculstion tyes f my spelling of companions Dan and the other one the old fellow who dose chase
Video was going well until you decided to start lying about the Thirteenth Doctor. Firstly, it's a blatant lie to say that she doesn't change her outfit. She does. You could have talked about the different coloured shirts, or the tuxedo variant from Spyfall, the waistcoat from The Haunting of Villa Diodati, the prison outfit from Revolution of the Daleks, the flashback/Time variant from Flux, the Legend of the Sea Devils outfit, the MasterDoctor multi Doctor outfit from The Power of the Doctor, or even at a stretch how she looked in Capaldi's outfit in her first episode. Plenty there. It's also incorrect that the show was dying and that they brought back Tennant to "save" it. Nobody with any scrap of credibility claimed this to be the case, nobody in control of Doctor Who or the BBC were concerned by any viewing figures or performance or anything like that (they had to state the contrary on numerous occasions). The reason Tennant was brought back was simply because of awkward timing. Russell T Davies was set on Ncuti Gatwa being the next Doctor, but he was extremely busy completing filming on Barbie and Sex Education, so he obviously couldn't lead the anniversary, and with Jodie Whittaker being pregnant, then having a newborn at the time the 60th was being filmed, it would be unreasonable to ask her to stay on. The only other viable option was bringing back another Doctor to avoid skipping the anniversary, and with Tennant and Tate both happy to return, it's no surprise Russell chose them to lead it. This idea that Doctor Who was dying was simply a fearmongering tactic deliberately fabricated by the sorts who've practically built careers on screaming at a camera every day over women and people of colour and the LGBTQ+ community and disabled people etc. And they're still spouting the same nonsensical lies 6 years later, even with new seasons filming, even with Disney funding, they've just become parodies of themselves. If they were right, Doctor Who would have been cancelled a long time ago, they cannot be trusted whatsoever. I can give you the benefit of a doubt, you said yourself you're more of a casual viewer rather than a diehard fan, so it would be unfair to expect you to know these things, it's understandable if you've picked up these deluded ramblings and accidentally taken them to be true, but nevertheless it is still harmful to be perpetuating them. And for the love of god, don't recommend that 5 hour embarrassment. It's nitpicky and dishonest as fuck.
