Kishotenketsu is used in most Japanese stories. I believe it's also used in Chinese and Korean ones as well. If you've ever watched a Japanese film or any anime ever, you've seen this structure. A relatively recent and famous example is the Korean film Parasite. It more or less maps to the Western 4-act structure, but with less emphasis on conflict during the second act and more emphasis on the midpoint.

That’s so interesting, cause I feel like Parasite is full of conflict! I’ll have to read more about the use of Kishotenketsu in that story, that’s fascinating.

The idea that Kishotenketsu is without conflict is a bit misleading. I'm no expert, but the way I understand it, it's a structure that doesn't focus on confrontation of an antagonistic force, and more on the protagonist adapting to and mastering their environment. That environment might be full of conflict, but the way the story is "solved" isn't necessarily by putting an end to it.

While I definitely understand that this was patreon-voted, I definitely have reservations about using AI considering that it steals from artists and plagiarizes work in order to function. NYT has an open lawsuit against it due to the issues with plagiarism. Writers (at the moment) don't have programs such as Nightshade or Glaze to poison AI data sets, and it's up to all of us to be aware of the issues surrounding it so that we can best support our fellow authors and artists. (As a note, my tone here is conversational/educational, I'm not trying to be aggressive or anything.)

AI is a gray area for sure & I don’t really know enough to speak on it, but thankfully ChatGPT just had to scour Google to answer this one haha. This will probably be my only AI-themed video!

“Can anyone tell me the structure of once upon a time in Hollywood?” I, um, well Leo I mean, but Brad, and the thing with the cult, oh but the end, and uh. Bruce Lee is a fake?
