Makes me wish the Netherlands would switch kit sponsor even more than I normally do. Imagine those Italian kits but orange with black stripes, and white with blue on one side and red on the other like a Dutch flag.
That's the history of Nike soccer. Before, companies would make multiple kits, especially during the major tournaments. Nike decided to be cheap and just recolor the same kit for every team they had a contract with. Eventually, every big company followed suit and here we are. I also miss when each country was represented by kit manufacturers from that country, Hummel, Diadora, Umbro, etc...
9:21 Fun fact, this shirt is inspired by the very famous Belgian graphic novel The Adventures of Tintin (I'm sure you've all heard of it) because that is his classic attire in the books. And as a Belgian i think it's a great nod to our culture !
It’s based on the tradition Portuguese tile artwork, I definitely like it personally however the red of the Portugal national team logo doesn’t blend in with the grey, I’m all for it however since it’s not overall boring when compared to the 2022 away kit
Germany's kits were great, but absolutely no effort for most of the teams, disgraceful creativity and copied and pasted from previous kits but just executed much worse
The only ones that were painfully bland were Turkish home and away shirts I'd say, the rest mostly looked unique, just not in a good way. And while I'm all for retro kits since when does "retro" mean "2006 World Cup"? Germany especially looks like a kit from their last home tournament with Italia 90 pattern slapped on the sleeves, and Spain is basically Brazilian shirt from Korea & Japan with their colour scheme. Italy on the other hand seems to be paying homage to the 90s and I appreciate that, for some reason this partern and the colours make me think of Roberto Baggio. Can't wait for Croatia's kits of they decide to go down the retro rule, those shirts from 98 were magnificent
I think the kits gain a bigger appreciation when the team performs good. You see it more and your happiness triggers when looking at it since its one of the main visual factors. For example I dislike the font of Argentina in 2022 but every time I see it I'm reminded of the joy it brought me when we won. On the contrary the 2014 away is very nice but since we lost the final wearing it we have a very bittersweet relationship with it
Vizeh, I am a long time viewer, subscriber, and soccer junkie. I am currently a senior at Texas Christian University and I used your video about the Super League as a source for my research paper. As the semester progresses forward, we are tasked with conducting an interview with a knowledgable source about your topic. My topic being: evaluating the economic impact of the proposed European Super League on the surrounding domestic soccer leagues. I think you are perfect source as an informed and match-going fan. Is there any chance I could borrow your time for 10 minutes for a quick interview? We can meet over zoom or discord. If a face to face interview is not possible, I could email you questions. Let me know if you’re available! Thanks, Adam Keever
Hello Adam! Sure would love to I’ll be free after my challenge from 16th onwards, tweet at me on Twitter @officialvizeh and I’ll get back to you (if I don’t respond keep spamming cause sometimes it doesn’t show me every notification)
Portugal away kit is my favorite, don’t know how the hell you think it’s a 3/10 it’s so unique and just looks cool. I also love the Portugal name on the back of the inside of the shirt. Spain away kit is the worse lol like you said it’s a goalkeeper shirt.
Those Italy kits are fire. Makes me wish the Netherlands would switch to Adidas kits. Imagine that Italy kit orange with black stripes, and a white away kit with blue on one side and red on the other like a Dutch flag.
For me as a Portuguese the away kit is the best I've seen in a while, finnaly a kit that represents Portugal, but is normal that foreigners don't really understand 100%
My two favorites are Italy home and Portugal away. Love that pattern on the portugal shirt, it has something special. But unfortunely im german and go with our home kit. Its not to bad tho, but i hate our away shirt. In my opinion, we had so nice away kits in red and black or green. Im also a proud owner of the 2014 away kit, my absolute favorite. ( 7:1 against Brazil )
The template for adidas this year seems really nice (simple in some), the nike away kits seem odd and out of place. Can't wait for the Euro, hope to see other great kits as well as great football
11:50 The Turkish kits have always been that specific design (as in the thick horizontal red stripe with the crescent moon and star) since the country’s independence, and anytime it has changed drastically, it has always seen backlash. Take for example the kits for Euro 2016. Those were hated on by the vast majority of people because of the spiderweb-like design. I believe that is the reason they will no longer make such drastic design changes to the kits. Because you cannot play on national values of sorts. In my opinion, they can make proper design choices and some have been made in the past like the Euro 2008 kits. Those were iconic. In general, the Turkish kits will always be simple with some minor changes here and there, but I do believe we need new ideas as the kits have become too repetitive lately
The Croatia shirt should have been included because my god did they manage to ruin such an iconic kit. The away kit is pretty usual sort of a downgrade, but the HomeKit is an absolute disaster. Nike literally turned our kit into what looks like an energy drink add.
Good luck on the challenge bro sounds like a crazy experience and it is even more insane some human bodies can endure such long distances of walking and running. Anyways good luck and great vids
Vizeh I absolutely love your content and have been a long time subscriber. I do however have some advise for you on the technical side. I am by no means an expert, so take this with a grain of salt, as I am just trying to give you unsolicited advise that may or may not help you. The portions of the video where it's only your voice are very low to the point where the listener/watcher has to turn up the volume significantly. What I would suggest is, in your editing software, bring up your voice track by 1 or 2 decibels, and giving it a quick listen before exporting. Again, everything else in your videos is class, and the sound is good too it's just low on the voice side and it's something that bugs me personally. Hope everything is going well for you Vizeh! Cheers.
The germany away kit is really nice I am a bit of a sucker for pink and purple kits 😅 although why is the england away kit purple? That makes zero sense to me
Hannah, exactly. England FA get £40m plus a year from Nike and some designer comes up with this? Geez, it's totally horrific. I always said Red shirts and socks, White shorts should be away kit like in 1966. Even worse than abysmal grey away kit they wore for Euro 1996.
Mate ngl I'm out of breath getting to the top of the stairs... so the fact you're doing 7 marathons in 7 days in 7 different countries is AMAZING! Best of luck :)
gl with ur challenge mate it seems like a real mental and physical battle i wish i could donate but i cant sorry mate wish you the best tho thank u for the great content you make👊
I feel like Nike kits either look ok or they are some of the ugliest things I've seen. Adidas has kinda mastered bringing back retro designs in a more modern format, but Nike feels like they just have no real direction with what they want to do. It's either the most basic kit(which usually look fine) or the weird patterns that look like they just threw paint onto a shirt. I miss the old Umbro kits tbh
Yeah agree. Umbro did some nice kits, just like Admiral in past. I also think more teams need to wear Diadora and Fila and Puma as well. Seeing ltaly wearing Adidas though looks weird.
Nike shirts are terrible. The England shirt is the best of the bunch, but no Nike shirt can compete with the Adidas shirts for me. Considering the price of modern football shirts, I think the least we should expect is unique designs, no templates. I miss Umbro and Under Armour shirts. They actually made an effort to justify the price.
Dutch leaked shirt actually looks alot better then I thought. I remember one with a weird almost tron-like blue line on the collar. That one looked like it belonged in a dumpster, but this one? Love black & orange combo, and having had to compare my navy blue shirts recently. I can confidently say that it probably won't make much of a difference from just black. So I kinda dig it Scrap that, glad it's navy blue & not pure black. Lot of the Dutch kits I like are moreso due to the white then the black, but it sometimes just enhances it so much. Excited to see them irl if these are real, though.
The Netherlands have not really had a good Nike kit since 2010 World Cup. Should have gone back to Black round collars and cuffs, and wear White or Black shorts, Orange socks. Away kit should be White shirts, Orange shorts, White socks like in 1974 and 1978 World Cups. Germany away is horrific for Adidas. Keep it simple and make it Black or Green with the stripes. England home shirt looks ok, collars should be round and navy like 50s kits. Away should be the old Red Shirts and socks, White shorts.
@@PeterAnderson-z4yI kinda agree, though you could possibly also do navy blue shorts for any kit, but might not be as good. Your away kit suggestion is pretty good, though. But I think integrating the Red White & Blue onto it in some way would also be neat.
@@somethingwithultra7231 I know the flag colours, but no Black on flag and the best Dutch kit was in 1974 and 1978 World Cups. The Blue came more prominent with the light Blue socks at Euro 2008. That away kit in 2006 World Cup was great too.
I agree.. BUT, those Italy kits are fire. Makes me wish the Netherlands would switch to Adidas kits. Imagine that Italy kit orange with black stripes, and a white away kit with blue on one side and red on the other like a Dutch flag.
Seems Nike took the fall here, gotta say Adidas just looks better with Germany, Belgium, Spain and Italy, none of Nike's shirt look even close to as good as Adidas
I’m quite surprised that Belgium were allowed to add gold to their kits, I thought you were only allowed to do that if you won a trophy, like Portugal made a gold kit for the 2018 World Cup since they won euro 2016 and France made a gold kit in 2022 since they won the 2018 World Cup
I think Nike is dumping so much money in the deals with these national teams that they have no money left for designers. I could have designed some of them and I wouldn't be proud of it...
ims Nike have really fumbled their football kits imo. I can't believe they actually decided to go back to the hideous total90 look from the early 2000s. England's kit for the Euros was so much cooler than wtv tf they wore at WC-2022. Ironic how these brands act like they care about the environment, yet they shell out 2/3 new kits every single year, for each & every team...
Ok vizeh, when you get back from the 7 marathons, it’s time to do a video on Saarbrücken. A team in the 3rd division of German football just knocked out Gladbach and are in the semi finals of the Dfb Pokal. They knocked out Bayern, Frankfurt, and now Mönchengladbach.
