Do you think Ranni the Witch and Melina your Finger Maiden are connected in some way?

In most souls games there is a duality of faith vs intelligence. Faith being connected to religion in some way and intelligence being connected to Academia. In Demon's Souls it was the faith magic vs sorcery. Same with Dark Souls. Faith was tied to Gwyn, while Intelligence/sorcery was tied to Seath and The Grand Archives In Bloodborne it was insight vs blood use. The Healing Church vs Byrgenwerth college In Elden Ring it is here again. Faith tied with Marika and Intelligence tied with Renella. Hence why when you go to Mirial at the church of vows you an learn both incantations and sorcery from him. Because Radagon was the link between the two. Ranni is meant to represent INT while Melina represents faith. They are meant to mirror echother

@BanditGames . It seems to be implied that Ranni and Melina are two independent halves of the same being or that Melina is created by Ranni. They both have the same goal of ending the golden order though with different missions with Melina repeatedly saying her mission to burn the tree was given to her by her mother. They both speak in a similar manner with a very similar voice and Ranni's closed eye and spectral face line up with Melina's closed eye and face perfectly. (Spoilers) The biggest clue being the ending Opposite to Ranni's in which you burn the world with the frenzied flame resulting in Melina swearing to hunt you down and kill you before opening her eye and revealing Ranni's blue eye.

So apparently Rannis ending got mistranslated to an insane degree rather than making touch sight sense impossible to determine, it was exposed to be that she would take the greater will and disentangle it’s influence from the world and take it past the stars and moon, so that it could not rob a person of these things on a whim for its own purposes (like what it did to Blaidd)

@@user-we1fk4ul5o Hah! Yeah, not just with this game. But whenever something is written with ambiguity, intentionally or otherwise, people always take one interpretation and run with it rather than consider all possible options and eliminate them accordingly once you get supporting or contradiction evidence later on. Even in this very video, I was not convinced that the definition of 'empyrean' was CAUSED by being born from both Marika and Radragon. There was a period there, not a comma, and then the dude pretends it was a comma the whole time. wut. Then there was a comma between the affliction part, and the 'as such'. Pretty sure there is a part where Ranni says she was selected by the two fingers as empyrian, selected, not born as, and by the two fingers, not Radragon/Marika as parents...which would be the selectors if all it took was them birthing someone together. I'm s till in my first playthru though, so I'm not fully decided on where I stand on all this, but so far, I do think lots of people are claiming to solve these Ranni-related mysteries and I'm sitting here thinking 'bwuh? That was a mystery?'.

The concept of the Empyreans having Shadows is so cool. I didn’t understand it at first, but they exist due to the Greater Will’s fear of its own creations. The Shadows are a fail-safe, a kill switch for Empyreans that step out of line. They’re loyal and sometimes amazing friends that are unable to defy the will of the Two Fingers no matter how hard they try. It’s freaky and downright depraved. Poor Blaidd, man.

Its mentioned that Godwyn the Golden was the favorite child of Marika. I feel like not many people have thought about that line, but I kept thinking that it must be important somehow. Then I came to the conclusion of this following theory, which I'm very confident is correct: Godwyn wasn't an Empyrean, and thus could not succeed Marika, but she would obviouly still want her favorite child to have great power. So, she plans to marry him to the primary candidate successor, Ranni. Marika wanted Godwyn to be Ranni's Elden Lord. So, to truly free herself from the machinations of both the Two Fingers and Marika, it was necessary for Ranni to have Godwyn killed.
@sootythunder3111
@sootythunder3111 2 года назад
I feel like we might be looking at the word “favorite” wrong, if it’s being looked at closer to Favored then some pieces begin to line up. We know that Marika was making alterations to the Elden ring for some time, we know that she was sending soldiers out to become tarnished, if she was anticipating them becoming tarnished it means that she was anticipating a stalemate between her rune bearing children, however maybe the reason she was anticipating this stalemate was because the favorite would not be there it’s highly suggested that Godwyn the golden was the strongest of the children. If that’s the case he might have been able to end the stalemate between the children and as a result the greater will would not become desperate enough for the tarnished. What I’m trying to get at is, I think the Black Knives might have been answering to Marika not Ranni, I think Ranni worked with Marika to kick off the shattering as a way for Ranni to avoid being put under the influence of the two finger, Ranni is freed and Marika gets her shattering as well as getting the empyrean replacement that the two fingers were grooming seemingly out of the picture (I say seemingly for reason later) If we assume during this time Miquella was imprisoned by mohg in the cocoon then that just leads Malenia as a viable possibility to replace Marika as an empyrean and son of a bitch look at that a bunch of black knives have sealed the only entrance to where Malenia resides trapping her Now I think Marika started to get wind of Rannis plan when she killed her two fingers , which after that you see some interesting things happen, first (to add to my speculation) to get to the two fingers that Ranni wants to kill she has to walk past a gaol with the black knives captain sealed in it which felt weird if Ranni commanded the black knives I would assume she would have freed such a powerful ally, second upon killing the two fingers the black knives start attacking her allies first they come to her tower and this is pure speculation but I think Blaidd is actually resisting the two fingers, and defending the tower from the black knives, if you look at the locations of the bodies and were they are respective to him and the entrance of the tower, Blaidd was an obstacle to them getting in. I think he was able to resist the two fingers but the Herculean task left him with only able to mentally process to attack anyone who gets near the tower, defend the tower. Which then leads to lji after learning of blaidds fate if you return to him you will find him dead surrounded by dead black knives. I don’t think Ranni would do this, but I do think Marika realizing Rannis goals aren’t to simply leaves becomes desperate to try and find her and her accomplishes and kill them
@sootythunder3111
@sootythunder3111 2 года назад
In regards to the Black knife captain in the gaol it should be noted that the nearby area is being guarded by a dragon who was previously guarding Ranni tower before you meet her (who then flees in mid fight) and the dragon drops a spell that says it swore an oath to serve Ranni, the area including the gaol is under Rannis control

@@sootythunder3111 Yes the black knife assassins don't work for Ranni, they are the Fingers assassins and work for the Greater Will. Furthermore, the black wolf mask near Selvius shows that an assassin was trying to disguise themselves as Blaidd
@Dizzykitty817
@Dizzykitty817 2 года назад
@@sootythunder3111 This lines up with what I was thinking, but I would like to point out Marika/Radagon's agency is questionable at the time of the game. They could be completely controlled by the greater will at this point. That means the Black knives now serve the greater will. I agree that the goal for the Night of black knives and the shattering was to "kill a god." Not a demi god. Marika instructed the Blacksmith to forge a weapon to "kill a god." Rykard became a snake in order to "devour the Gods." Ranni stole Destined Death that has the power to "kill the gods." On my first play through I assumed this was talking about the Demigods, but I think these various factions are rebelling against the outer gods, or just the greater will, specifically. There is also evidence that at the very least, Rykard and Ranni conspired together. There is an item you get from an invader from Farum Azula that explains that Ranni gave a blade enchanted with Death to Rykard as a contingency. The whole point of the Volcano Manor squad seems to revolve around stealing destined death again.
@lenajohnson6179
@lenajohnson6179 2 года назад
@@Dizzykitty817 Marika apparently GAVE Ranni the means to steal the cursemark of death as well... the Black Knives stuff seem to paint them as having served Ranni/Marika and only NOW are attempting to kill Ranni. This makes me think that during the Night of Black Knives they were indeed working WITH Ranni... So the idea of the Greater Will being in command of Marika's current 'husk' is a possible explanation for why they seem to have turned on Ranni... because all evidence points to Marika and Ranni working together toward a 'new age'

My theory of Melina is based on the theory that Ranni is the child/creation of Radagon and Radagon only. So If Radagon was able to create a child all by himself, why shouldn't Marika be able to do the same. So in that case creating Melina. Not only a child that mirrors Ranni in visuals and origin but also stats (int/faith) and plan (leading to an ending). While Ranni is planning to start of a new age, Melina is following what most people asume to be Marikas great plan, to get rid of the beast and the controll of the greater will. My guess is that Marika created Melina after she found out that kids with herself (Radagon) would be cursed, while Ranni (as a child of Radagon only) was not. So she did the same with Melina, not to take her place as a vessel but to take her place in Marikas great plan while Marika herself would be bound with Radagon inside the erdtree.

I don’t think Malenia and Miquella’s afflictions are a product of “incest” as some people have suggested. By that logic, all of the Empyreans should have afflictions. I think their conditions are actually connected to the fire giants. The description of the Giant’s Red Braid explains that Radagon hated his red hair and suggests that it was a “curse of their kind.” By “their kind”, I can only assume it’s referring to the fire giants. Perhaps in the wake of Radagon’s war with the fire giants, Radagon was afflicted with some sort of ailment or “curse” that changed his hair color. Perhaps Melenia’s scarlet rot and Miquella’s eternal infancy are a part of Radagon’s “curse” as well.

@samuraispartan7000
@samuraispartan7000 2 года назад
@@RandoLePerson Are the offspring of asexual beings truly incestuous? I don’t think so. Let me explain… First, I don’t think we have any solid proof that Radagon “separated” from Marika, did the thing, and had Malenia and Miquella the old-fashioned way. There is no official art of Radagon and Marika separated and standing side by side. It’s always one or the other. In the final boss fight, the broken body of Marika turns into Radagon. If they were truly “separate” parts of the same whole, Radagon would not need to assume control over Marika’s body. It’s far more likely that they are split personas than separate beings. This convinces me that Radagon did not breed with Marika the way many have assumed. If Radagon could use the amber egg to birth children without a mother (which is most likely how Ranni came into being), he very likely could have “birthed” Malenia and Miquella in the same or similar fashion. Perhaps there is a second amber egg we don’t know about. But in advancing this notion, you might ask “Well, the lore says that Radagon returned to Marika after Godfrey became the first Tarnished. Doesn’t that prove they were separate?” Not necessarily. If Godfrey was privy to Marika’s plot to usurp the Greater Will, Marika could have turned into Radagon, left the capital in Godfrey’s charge, and spread false rumors that he was “sent” to fight the Carian nobles on Marika’s behalf, and returned to the capital as planned. Radagon/Marika’s plans for the Carian royal family are not entirely clear, but there’s a strong likelihood that he/she intended to use them against the Greater Will. He/she eventually decided that seducing Rennalla was easier than conquering the realm and opted to be her consort until his/her planned return to the capital. In other words, Marika was never really at the capital during that time. The Two Fingers likely caught wind of this, found out that Godfrey was running things on Marika’s behalf while she was playing husband to Renalla, banished him from the Lands Between, forced Radagon/Marika to return, and decided to maintain the lie Radagon was a separate being to maintain order in the realm.

@@burneden I have a lot of different ideas, but as an initial matter, I don’t think we can write off the possibility that Renalla’s kids were affected by this “curse” as well. Radahn grew throughout the duration of his life and was strangely comparable to the giants in both size and appearance. Radahn’s size and the red hair of the Radagon bloodline led me to believe that Radagon was either a giant or a half-giant that betrayed his own kind. In light of what we now know, this is pretty unlikely, but this “curse” could neatly explain why Radagon and his kids shared many of their attributes. Since Ranni physically died before the events of the game, we don’t know if she had any curse. But of course, the “curse” idea is just one explanation. There’s also a possibility that Melania and Miquella’s afflictions represent the influence of rival Outer Gods. Mohg, a servant of the “Formless Mother” abducted Miquella in hopes of becoming his consort and the master of a “new dynasty.” It seems that the Greater Will and the Outer Gods need Empyrean host bodies to amass and maintain power. Melania’s Scarlet Rot might be the result of the Formless Mother’s influence, or another unnamed Outer God.

In the english script, Ranni states that her age will be that of the chill night, and that she wishes to make the certainties of sight, touch, faith and emotion become impossibilities. However in the Japanese script, Ranni states that she wishes to take the chill night away, she doesn't say that she wishes to take away emotions and sensations, but that she wants to take the order away with her into space. She believes that the world is better off if the order that people live within is not something physical and tangible that can be seen, touched and believed in, so she will leave the world with it, making her order and herself things that can not be seen and worshipped, essentially swearing to not intervene in the Lands Between as its god like Marika did."

Ranni and Melina were originally the same person, called Renna, a final gift from Radagon to Rennala, but born of one God. Their split is probably due to the incomplete mark of death and her soul was torn in two and went to two separate locations, Melina, a Finger Maiden, and Ranni, stored in a doll. I agree that the alternate suggestion for the meaning of Empyrean is not correct, for much the reason you state. To read it otherwise is to break the rules of English. Unless it is a very bad translation, I think we know Empyreans are from one god. Mothers can be mothers without giving birth. Lots of mothers and daughters exist without biological relationships and that's an accepted meaning. Ranni doesn't need to be related to Renalla to call her mother. I think it's far more likely that Ranni isn't a biological daughter of Renalla and Radogan than for us to have misunderstood the meaning of Empyrean.
@liuzhaoqi2003

I think this is some sort of genetic inheritance thing, because the twins are born form the pure GOD blood, there for they are both Empyrean. As of one Empyrean mate with others, they could born as a Empyrean or simply not. Thats why Ranni is so different to her siblings aka Radahn and Rhykard, because she won the “genetic lottery” and born as a Empyrean. I think the same happend for Marika and Godfrey, thier fist born son Godwyn “the Golden” is a Empyrean, and very different to the abomination like siblings Morgott and Mohg. And the fact Godwyn got so much attention from Marika, it get me the impression that Godwyn is way different than the other siblings. And Morgott and Mohg both has the theme of "not worthy" or "not meet the expectations". Morgott said he can never be the lord or someting the like, and I think Mohg's obsession with the Miquella also could interpreted as the longing of the older brotherly love. You born in to the same family but some of your brother just way better than you, and when that "Golden" child dead prematurely, you want to fill that hole what ever you can. So you stolen the closest thing. Also this explained why Ranni and Godwyn's death are tide together, they are both Empyrean. As the order of death demand one soul and one body, maybe Ranni know that, so she engraved the half death marker on her self and sent the black knife assassin to kill and engraved the other half of maker on Godwyn to cheat the order of death, so she can shake off the influence of the the greater will, also not become the next vessel.

@@kscott2655 Godwyn was Empyrean thing just a theory to tide up Ranni‘s death with him(Why she choose him), he could have not been, is a minor detail. Also the "genetic lottery" with the "jealousy of siblings" is a common theme in those type fantasy, also in the A Song of Ice and Fire series by George R. R. Martin. And in the soulsborne series, the GODs never as simple as some mythical higer being, is allways some kind diffent race or just aliens with magic power. So it make sense that you need some sort of special "blood"/genes to be the vessel of the elden beast(chosen by the two fingers), also I think Empyrean is a word play on Empyreal, basicaly saying they are a race from the highest sky(outer space) AKA they are aliens, Empyrean could just mean the offspring of the aliens or have aliens DNA in them so they can become vessel of the “celestial being” elden beast. Also, clearly the Greater Will is some kind alien being or alien god IN SPACE... Remember the eternal city of Nokron "An ancient city punished for high treason against the Greater Will", in the city you will fight Astel, Naturalborn of the Void, "A malformed star born in the flightless void far away. Once destroyed an Eternal City and took away their sky. An falling star of ill omen." Astel is a variant of the latin word Astra (star), and Naturalborn of the Void basicaly saying is a being from the space(Void).

Regarding Ranni, it's very likely that since her birth was not the product of some unholy self fucking between marika and radagon, she didn't suffer any affliction at birth. "Miquella and Malenia are both the children of a single god. As such they are both Empyreans, but suffered afflictions from birth" The sentence structure is clear. The "children of a single god" statement ends the sentence. The "As such" indicates that the following sentence is related to the previous sentence and "are both Empyreans" and "but suffered afflictions from birth" are separated by a comma, which is done when both pieces of information are connected, otherwise you'd use a period. If the afflictions were not related to being born of a single god, the sentence might read; "Miquella and Malenia are both the children of a single god. As such they are both Empyreans. However they suffered afflictions from birth" We know that Marika wasn't afflicted by any such rot, or disease, and in fact was well loved and essentially seen as perfect. We know that the half-mortal children she had were essentially God-like humans, and it's only when her inbred children were born and rot entered the world, that powerful ones like Radahn who was noble, fell to madness. Marika had _two_ god parents, whereas all the non-Empyrean demi-gods we see are the children of a god and a mortal. Now, this all of course ties in with one of the questions raised in the video, how does one become a god in Elden Ring? If even Ragadon, who was himself literally just the god Marika, was not a god at first, then we know that there's more to it than simply divine heritage.
@metallisika2745

I thought so as well. Being born of gods means you are an Empyrean, being born of a god and a mortal means you're a demigod; being born of a single god (single entity being BOTH your parents) means you're an Empyrean, but suffer from afflictions.

Marika was not BORN a god. She was ascended by the Greater Will to become one. Her parents are speculated to be "Numen". Seeing as how she was an Empyrean, while being mortal, if were going by the lore that Marika was from a place called Numen/Numa? and was chosen by the The Greater Will to be a god. We should surmise that being an Empyrean doesn't not necessarily mean that you were born from a single God. The text for the Remembrance of Melania is most likely mistranslated very heavily as with many other texts and dialogues in the game. Such as Ranni's dialogue talking of her plans for the Lands between. The fact the meaning of Empyrean described in the remembrance conflicts with Marika and her origins before becoming Queen heavily suggests there is a mistranslation somewhere, most likely (as stated before) with The Remembrance of Melania.

I had a thought only women can be Empyreans as they will have to inherit Marika's seat as Queen, which would also need a consort to become one. Which both Ranni and Malenia fulfill. Now what about Miquella? Probably, he is an Empyrean only because he was 'developed' at the same time as Malenia (seeing how they are twins). I came to this thought because there are only 3 Empyrean, 2 of which are female while the male other is a twin of an Empyrean. Also, Mogh's plan of becoming Miquella's consort would connect to this conclusion.

I think the quote about the single god thing is kinda misunderstood. Marika is an Empyrean, and Radagon is Marika. So them having children means that their offspring being Empyrean is set in stone. Its not that they HAVE to be from a single god, its just that this scenario means that there's no way Malenia and Miquella WONT be Empyreans. Its an important distinction. Empyrean seems to be a trait sorta like DNA, so Ranni, being a child of Radagon and Renalla, despite Radahn not inheriting the Empyrean trait, Ranni herself could've. I'd love to have a discussion about this if you still disagree tho.

In this case I’m confused what empyrean even means. Does it just literally mean that you are cursed from birth in some way? I guess it just feels like the empyrean label should be more important than just a dna trait without any concrete effects, where as the other theory makes sense to me as it seems like being born from a single god is significant enough to deserve a label like empyrean. To me, empyrean even sounds like a label of nobility, like one that is only granted to those of the purest blood, though i guess that’s not a super concrete argument
@2402Stevo
@2402Stevo 2 года назад
@@arseniykorchevskiy1564 Empyreans seems to be a race preferred by the Greater Will chosen as the best vessel for the Elden Ring/Greater Will. Something about Empyreans seems to make them the best candidate to communicate closely to Outer Gods. So it could still be some genetic trait passed down from generation to generation. It seems that the likelihood of inheriting this trait is small and rare, which is why its so important to focus on that single god line. Almost all of Marika's offspring were from Empyreans laying with other humans. So the chance of this is smaller, but if a god with Empyrean blood fornicates with its literal clone, the chance of success is so much greater that the game states "well of COURSE they're Empyreans. They were born of an Empyrean banging her clone (of a single god)." It seems this is more likely than a whole lineage predicated on Empyreans making a genetic copy and fucking themselves. If that was the case, then Marika wouldn't have bothered to have children with anyone else rather than her own self. Another point is that both Miquella and Malennia are both heavily, heavily, _heavily_ inbred. Like more inbred than one could possibly be, and they both have debilitating defects about them both. One's body doesn't know how to age, and the other has Aids, but super saiyan levels. Sure, they could both just be "cursed" just because its a fantasy setting, but I think its simply because these are genetic defects from their upbringing. Nowhere was it stated that Marika suffered anything like this or any other Empyrean we know of. Seems like a whole lineage that cannot sustain itself if this is true, which makes it seem kinda unlikely. Also, Ranni seems to love her mother dearly. To spin it that shes not related to Renalla at all seems to just sully the sentiment.

Ranni's ending has a bunch of mistranslation that actually change what here ending was intended to be. In actuality Ranni simple wanted to separate the order from the people such that they could not physically see/touch it and thus the people of the land between would not act so radical in their faith of it. In fact, Ranni hoped that her order wouldn't be so strongly believed in like the golden order. Also when Ranni talks about the Chilled Night the correct translations seem to have it as Ranni referring to her Order in that they will be taking a long, lonely, and dark journey away from the people of the Land's Between. So in my opinion Ranni's ending is the ideal good ending. As for the Frenzy Flame ending it is lorewise one of the worst ending possible as Frenzy Flame is directly linked to chaos and thus you effectively ushered in an age of chaos for the Lands Between.

"Introduces herself as Renna for some reason" Renna is the name of her mentor, the Snow Witch. That's why the tower next to Ranni's Rise is Renna's Rise. Also, "born of a single god" doesn't have to mean a virgin birth. Ranni could have been born of a single god, Radagon, and someone else who is not a god, Rennala. Though I suppose that would make Radahn and Rykard Empyreans as well. I'm probably wrong, just putting it out there.

For the Empyrean talk. “They are both children of a single King. As such, they are both Princes, but suffered afflictions from birth.” It is possible for the sentence to say Empyreans are the children of TWO Gods. And these two Empyreans are born with afflictions because both those Gods are the same God. Empyreans seem to be beings with the potential to become a God. Miquella in his Cocoon as Mohgwyn attempts to turn him into a God. Milena said to be about to ascend into Godhood if her Rot flower blooms a third time (presumably second phase of the fight). One God, one mortal = Demigod. Two Gods = Empyrean One God = Empyrean with affliction.

The theory about ranni finding out about runes and plotting with a faction that are not possibly related to her is weird. If you join both runes they allow life after death, mwaning the undead are part of the cycle. Since they don't go back to the erdtree they can't make the minor erdtrees grow and the undead become a problem for the golden order and the greater will. Since marika is involved with the black knives (but the black knives work for the greater will as well, one killed a lot of finger readers and is located in the queen's chambers) and she feels devastated after godwyn dies, we can assume that marika was plotting against the golden order, got found out and when ranni wanted to off herserlf with no other goal in mind, the greater will would be left with no empyrean to succeed marika and with no way of growing his erdtrees anymore. So he killed godwyn as to punish marika and to split the 2 runes to stop ranni from creating such rune. The greater will can't kill marika since there is no other empyrean at the moment an still needs her, but godwyn is her most beloved son.

Great video!!I watched another with someone saying they translated the english version wrong with what Ranni says a few times, like at the end. It makes it seem like she is doing something evil but the translation is off, she wants to give back free will to people. I only saw the video touched on it briefly but that was really interesting to me. I've been trying to find a video that goes more in depth on that aspect.

My main theory was that with Marika getting tired of the Greater Will, she orchestrated things like the Black Knives, Ranni stealing the Death Rune, etc. My assumptions is derived from the following: 1. Ranni and Godwyn both died at the same time, and because they died at the same time that the cursemark was broken in half. From this, my understanding is, if only one were to die, e.g. Ranni, her body AND soul will perish. But since Ranni and Godwyn died at the same time, the cursemark split, so Ranni's body died and Godwyn's soul died. 2. Marika was working with the Black Knives. I thought the Black Knives was working with the Two Fingers, since they BK had Ranni's cohorts killed at the end of Ranni's questline. With that in mind, Marika should also have some power over the Black Knives. At least, some faction of the BK loyal to Marika rather than the Two Fingers. Apparently, the Two Fingers had confessors so there was no need for the Black Knives. 3. Ranni stole the rune of death. The rune of death is guarded by Maliketh. Maliketh was betrayed by Marika. In what order should this be considered? The ambiguity of it all lead me to believe that Marika had Ranni stole the rune of death. Maliketh failed to protect the rune of death, so was punished to starve for death. Hence the betrayal in the Maliketh remembrance description. But Maliketh doesn't seem to be aware of this. He appears to only be aware of the "punishment" of hunger Marika cursed him with. This is only going on the dialogue at the end of Maliketh's questline. ... 4. Ranni imbued the rune of death to the knives so she can kill herself to release her soul from her body. How does she know for a fact that this will be the outcome? How does she know this won't kill both her soul and her body? This lead me to the assumption that Marika told Ranni what to do. I.E. to have two demigods die at the same time so Ranni's body dies but her soul survives. This in turn, will cause the other demigod's soul to die, but their body to continue living. I also think Marika deliberately chose Godwyn to be the other demigod. Marika is fairly selfish and, if Godwyn is the "golden" boy he really was, an excellent fighter as seen from his defeat of Fortissax, but also very devout to the Two Fingers, then Godwyn might be a problem if left alive. This also gives Marika kind of like a coverup reason to eventually break the Elden Ring, as in "She is so wrought with grief and disillusionment of the Two Fingers to allow the death of her favourite child in such a horrible manner she broke the elden ring". ... 5. Why did Marika tell and work with Ranni in the first place? Well, Marika realised Ranni's disdain for the Two Fingers. So much so that she would willing kill herself, or at least part of herself, to escape the Two Fingers. Hence forth, Marika saw the potential in Ranni in carrying out a plan to be done with the Two Fingers so Marika worked wwith Ranni This is also the reason why I assumed that Marika kinda wanted Ranni to succeed in her Age of Stars

@Kronos_88
@Kronos_88 2 года назад
@@HavocHounds1988 That would be the most logical assumption but there's so very little known about why and how and when. Same for the Two Fingers, since there's so many of them just dead. Are they simply created by the Greater Will in some way, with the Three Fingers just being a byproduct/twin-existence/accidental creation? That seems to be a very common theme in the game, two characters that are extremely closely linked but having different perspectives/motives. Radagon and Marika, Morgott and Mohg, Malenia and Miquella, Ranni and Melina, Two Fingers and Three Fingers, D. and his brother, etc. They're all extremely close to each other, in one way or another, yet they walk different paths.

If you cast a specific spell in front of a statue in the capital, a message appears on the ground that says "Marika is Radagon". So Ranni split herself into two people, like Radagon/Marika. That's why she's got a ghost face that is joined with her at the eye. Betting the closed eye matches with her other half, Melina, and the mark on Melina's eye may be the other part of the death mark and she split the mark between two bodies in order to cheat the death effect.

I think that cut Marika dialogue from Melina is something that was patched in to order, or occur more easily at least.
