Right. Idk why they are taking such a community approach if they never listen to the community. Idk what kind of deadlines or people they are working with but they either need to choose to operate like a corporation that just doesn’t interact with the community OR if they do interact with the community, actually listen to what’s being suggested and takes a more thoughtful approach instead of saying “i don’t know” or “it’s not happening, sorry :)”
Keep in mind that the community event and answers are not coming from the devs that are doing the hard work, but from creative directors, community managers and product owners, whose job is to prioritize and tell developers what to do. They want feedback to see how aligned their priorities are. As a developer, you have some degree of saying on the matter, but you can't really say "no" without a proper reason, yet, all the hate goes towards them, because people have no clue of IT department structure. Their backlog of tasks could be full for the next months, even years, so I can see where this "we can't promise" and "in a couple of years" is coming from. What I'm saying is that the issue is coming from few levels above the devs and we should aim at the proper place - the idea of feedback is to take action, not just hear it!
I was thinking this the whole time. BHVR managed to push away the biggest advocate for the game who is pretty much is a big reason why I still stay somewhat interested. Shame
It's a weird situation for me. I've got only around a few hundred hours and generally go against highly experienced killers when survivor queueing. This means the average killer in my games use pop/pain res/eruption or other gen regression perks that are common in experienced killers. However for new players or less experienced players I can see that starting out with an even more limited set of perks, especially jolt, will be a huge impact on the overall balancing and level of fun they will experience. It really does seem BHVR are trying to draw out the progression as much as possible before they review the fact that without events or BP boosters the progression system is a faulty one at best. It's tedious to play the game for hundreds of hours and barely have a full page of perks. I don't blame anyone who leaves the community since these changes have been implemented.
I gave up a while ago. It's painfully obvious that this game is designed by sadists who either enjoy the pain of the community or don't care maybe both. So much could be done to make the game more enjoyable for all and not making the most optimum strategies the ones where you have to literally be a jerk. The worst part is, this game attracts and RETAINS a lot of horrible people because of that and people who get slighted by someone who tunneled them and use that as justification to be a jerk to as many people as possible on both sides, which then causes MORE people to be jerks. Whereas decent people leave and move on. As for SWF vs. solos. Well tome challenges are a big part of the reason this is an issue. Something else I'd do away with. Many survivor tome challenges basically read 'throw the game until you do this random objective that may not help progress the game'. With SWF you can work with your team to help you and synergize to make that easier, in solo your team mates can all be doing 'cleanse totems' challenge. The fact they don't understand this and argue what they did makes it painfully obvious they don't understand their own game at all. For hook suicides. Simple. Reward people for playing the game more, hook suicides within 5 minutes with nobody else dead break this chain. Not just bloodpoints either. Don't pull out the punish stick. Otz said a few things here that are accurate. There's a lot of good/workable ideas here.
Otz isn’t even mad… he’s disappointed, it hurts me to see him like this, it also hurts me to see the devs perk up and engangingly answer questions about skins or something that makes them more money but then any question asked about actually making the game better you get a dry ass response
Haha its so true. This game went downhill massively a couple of years ago when they realised people liked buying expensive skins and customising their character as much as they do playing the actual game. It's a skin/item storefront with a game attached now.
@@ben_dixon The tragic part is that if they leaned fully into skins and out of paywalling gameplay content, it would be fine for them to prioritize skins. The problem is them doing both and going "Eh the fanbase has enough sunk-cost-fallacy they won't leave anyway" One of the big things that sparked this disappointment was their god awful response to the fact that new players lost the stranger things perks as common perks and how that made the game health worse overall and they essentially just said 'lol new players can kick rocks' Ntm even as someone who has 2k+ hours in a couple games, I think it's completely insane to be calling 100+ hour players 'new' players, yet that's how they're treated in the free progression curve. I've spent what, 19k Iri shards over ~115h having started about a month ago? That figure including the 20M redeem code iri. It's just insane that I have like 3 Shrine perks, one additional Killer, and one body cosmetic for Huntress (Yeah, that one may not be iri efficient but damned if it's not worth at least liking how you look on your main). So up to 2 more characters if I had spent all of it solely on character unlocks. It's batshit crazy. And the hilarious thing is that if they made skins I liked, and they didn't have this disgusting paytowin model (And yes, despite their placatory measures with the Nurse being permanently prescribed top tier by principle, and the absolutely awful system that is Shrine so that people can say bUt tEcHnIcAlLy even as the reddit threads documenting people waiting for specific perks for years on end to show up in there pile up, the game is certainly pay to win), then I would buy the skins just to support them. As it is, I've paid up front for the game, and with the game in its current state I feel like buying anything in it would be actively supporting some of the worst development principles in gaming, so I typically avoid it. (The only exception for me was getting Pig because I've wanted to play the silly bad meme killer for ages before even getting the game, and we also know that even if BHVR fixes its model for original killers, they're unlikely to ever have the ability to change how licensed killers are monetized)
@@nudgarrobot3043 The Nurse scapegoat of: Its F2P so were not P2W has been debunked, the shrine being an excuse has also been debunked I fully stand whit you. The survivor side doesn't have a "Nurse." You need to pay up on alot of survivors whit good perks like decisive etc etc. This entire game has been turned into a god damn circus. I would see no difference if the employees wear clown make-up or not on the next stream.
@@meesmahieu7503 ...Debunked how, exactly? Like, no shade, I literally don't see how either of these things could possibly be 'debunked' outside of BHVR completely reworking the Shrine into an actually good system, and Nurse not being the best killer in the game for a significant period of time. But since neither of those things have happened I don't know what you're talking about with that. And for sure I'm def not justifying surv side just because the freely accessible perks are much better than the killer sided ones, I just think it's a calculated move on their part to make Survivor at least mildly approachable perkwise for incentivizing SWFs to bring new friends in to fill slots and not be useless, while generally affording garbage to the non-paying,
Otz saying "Oh when I cover new games I'm not as knowledgeable and it's not as entertaining" meanwhile I binge every single one of his variety streams cuz they're immensely fun and enjoyable. And I'm willing to bet other peeps are like this as well.
@@halcritic648 true, but also you can't play the one game for how much years he've done it, maybe it's time to try something different, maybe it would stick
@@halcritic648 I personally found his Obra Dinn vid phenomenal. His channel is in the dbd algorithm so putting out smth different is very awkward for it. But he SHOULD cuz they're bangers
Guys let's keep the comments respectful towards everyone. I don't want other content creators or the developers belittled in any way. I do wish Fog Whisperers had a larger and earlier role in trying to help with PTBs / upcoming features but alas, our impact is limited.
@@notOtzdarvahonestly, and i say this with all respect deserved to those in said program, i do feel its sadly partly true that fog whisperer program is just PR. However i dont mean this as a disrespect towards the creators, at all, honestly, but rather it feels absolutely awful cause it feels like beloved and absolutely wonderful creators who have put their sweat and tears into creating this space as it exists today are getting exploited and taken advantage of for whats pretty much free PR, and they are left alone to deal with the consequences when the news they bring to their community are less than stellar. Again, i do not wish to sound disrespectful here, honestly. And also as an aside, thank you otz for being such a god damn beacon of light for the community. Heres to hope stuff gets better, genuinely never expected the state of things would ever get to the point you would sound defeated like this.. Also PS: honestly i do kinda hope you play some other games for the channel as a "main" thing, even if for a bit, i love your long form content for the absolute amount of work you put into it, and i would love to see it translate ot other games
@@skyethemin4922 Being a fog whisperer seems completely pointless, the only pro is that you get your stream highlighted on steam every now and then, other than that you're supposed to criticize less, say less, do less. IDK. Seems like a complete scam to be more obedient.
@@neyaneya5554 Being a fog whisper is like: Bhvr: Who are you again? Otz: I’m otzdarva, a fog whisper *Holds up a badge with fog the whisperer icon on it* Bhvr: Is that supposed to mean anything?
Going to miss your videos where you point out problems and offer solutions about this game but it is completely understandable to not want to put up with the strange community backlash and to simultaneously feel like you are not heard by the actual developers. Much love❤️
@@Thealvita I hope bhvr will learn from this and actually do something with the cool game they have instead of just coasting off of their current success
the "look forward to it in the next YEARS" part killed me lol. that straight up KILLED me harder than a tunneling nurse wiith basekit noed and 50 blinks
I feel like the devs are so lost in the sauce that they've completely lost touch. Claiming that the UI that is too restrictive to add basic functionality and will take years to change, without a shred of self awareness, is absolutely baffling to me. They struck gold with popular horror franchises and are now safe to basically rest on their laurels and maintain the status quo, so they've just stopped caring about creating a better game.
Lmao, devs dont care about killer players, they only care about money, that's why survivors are the power role and will keep being that. They create false statistics to fill their narrative of a balanced game, they want to bring new players by making baby survivors get a easier time, completely ignoring that they're buffing the stronger ones, specially in SWF, forcing killers to play the way survivors dont like and nerfing to the ground the killers that can win without depending on survivors making mistakes.
@@HexFemboy I think they're not even safe sitting on their Laurels. If they do keep taking L after L eventually everyone will know this game as the shitty asymmetrical game with a bunch of licenses. I think there's only so many new players that will buy this game before they recognize it sucks and this game's reputation will plummet.
As a developer, if they have a shit code base, it is going to be difficult to change and add all that. BUT FUCKING YEARS? WHAT THE FUCK? It's really disappointing having games like Overwatch where you can literally go play custom modded games while searching for a game and DBD just recently added the ability to do other stuff while searching. and still half assed at that, can't even choose a damn challenge. I think it's safe to say that we're getting GTA 6 well before DBD gets custom gamemode games like Overwatch or Fortnite, if ever. Or anything as ambitious.
I don't know why these answers surprise people. I remember BHVR publically stating that they had no intention of creating colorblind options in the game until the media got a hold of the story and almost IMMEDIATELY they shifted course and put them in. If they don't believe that a decision will directly get them more customers or stop players from leaving, they won't do it.
Behavior doesn’t deserve Otz. I’m glad you’re cutting back on DBD content. and I hope this will give them a sign to actually do something about their game. (they won’t)
Dude, thank you for this video. I’ve honestly been depressed about the state of DbD and this just confirms what I’ve been feeling. The devs just want to milk this game until it’s dry and dead. They don’t want to make any meaningful changes or add anything. They want it to just stay the way it is. To me, Behavior seems like they’re throwing a tempter tantrum because they’re “stuck” with DbD. Every other game they’ve tried to make has flopped, and they’re “stuck” with DbD because it would be insane to not milk this for all it’s worth. The studio seems jaded and, IMO, are acting like emotional teenagers not getting what they want. I look at other older games that are still going, like Warframe, and how the devs act on live streams and they’re so excited and constantly putting in new stuff including mission types, which are essentially game modes to play in. Behavior treats this game and its community like unwanted, necessary evils. It’s just kinda gross. Same thing with something like Call of Duty. Constantly adding things, constantly adding content and game modes. Then you start up DbD and it’s like, CRUSTY. I’m sorry @Otzdarva. I can see your disappointment when talking about this topic and I share the sentiment. I will always watch your content though, and follow your content whatever form it takes. I’ve been loving the variety of games you’ve been playing on stream! ❤ Thanks again for this video. Peace and love.
Digital Extremes' player-focused approach to Warframe is 100x better than BHVR's approach to DBD. I've moved on to playing Warframe and this AMA has soured any hopes I had for the near future of DBD.
i share this sentiment i rarely play anymore, Otz is the sole reason im even in the loop anymore with DbD because the game has just become this masochism simulator if i play alone so i'd rather watch someone who knows how to play than ruin my own day with sub par performance due to solo survivor RNG
To me IDGAF what you post but I commented as I watch my favorite RU-vidr. Too bad no one gives two shits if you play or not. Clown mentality. If you dont play don't tell us as no one gives two fucks Idiot.
The fact that me not ever playing DBD, and that you made me watch all of your videos goes to show the incredibile amount of charisma you have. I remember following you back in the old days of DS2 videos. Love whatever content you are gonna do because it's gonna be YOU making it.
Right on! BHVR really needs to redeem themselves somehow from that GOD AWFUL QnA.. REALLY good questions getting answered with non direct, open ended answers is truly a sign of lack of ambition. Not sure what they are ploting but it doesn't look nice.
I wholeheartedly believe a big part of DBD would not exist without this man, even having not played the game consistently in years his videos on the problems and different issues of the game are so captivating. It's weird because I couldn't imagine any other game besides DBD being so volatile and having so many inconsistencies that talking crap about the game is its own genre.
Don't blame Otz guys. The devs treat him like trash, and the community blames him for everything because of how great his videos are. Otz just is just tired of it, and I think he should branch out to other games. I hope people will finally give you the respect you deserve
in his streams he's been talking about branching out to other games (and is slowly starting to do so) and trying to detach from dbd. id go to his streams and watch them tho for more info since i dont wanna put words in his mouth or anything
@@empiyrr2133 The worst part is that some of them just don't like him / or other people in general so they look for things to try and get more people to hate them. They could hate him because he has a girlfriend, because he has a pet, because hes a streamer, because hes a guy, because he's spanish ( im pretty sure, he's spanish, but i don't remember specifically), it could be any petty reason, but now they have some ammo that they can use to try and get more people to hate him. Regardless if it's legit or not. Those kinds of people know as well that the reason they hate him would make them look like clowns, so they try and find the littlest petty reason to try and justify it. Hell, they probably don't even care about dbd and it's issues, this is just how some people in society act and behave unfortunately. This is why I think OPs Post is pointless, trying to tell people like these to not go around and spread rumors / blame will result in almost no gain, it might change 1 or 2 peoples point of view, but nothing note worthy.
Q: Do you like the color red? A: Possibly in a couple years who knows! Nerf the Pig?! Pretty good job so far! Thats the end of the Q&A thank you for coming!
A: So unfortunately the colour red is actually a tough point in the game at the moment, due to the existence of the decimated Borgo and how killers, and their red stain blend into the ground and surroundings. Therefore, we have decided to make the pig's outfit bright lime.
Years ago you were the sole person that inspired me to start streaming and to start playing Dead by Daylight in general, I'm a killer main because of you lol. I've since gone back and watched all of your Dark Souls content and I always watch new content you put out (Darkest Dungeon, Texas Chainsaw, Evil Dead, Dark Souls 2,) I just wanted to say that your content always makes my day and that I and a large portion of the community will always watch you play whatever makes you happy. ❤
I second this. Been playing DBD since launch but personally took a massive step back these last 12 months and haven't missed it at all. I still watch and love Otz and watch for him, not DBD.
Hey, Otz! Hopefully you read this. I’m a hobbyist game developer. The things that you were talking about to make the comp scene more accessible and easier to set up and survivor perks visible in lobby are NOT hard to do. Granted, I haven’t touched that cursed thing called multiplayer game development yet, but still: 1. For the replay system all they would have to do is to record the position and rotation of the characters and their bones (I could explain the bones as the things that you control animations with) at x frequency. Do it all server side to not have latency issues. They probably have something to check player position to prevent speed hacking, if so all they have to do is to just store that position. They already have the basis for this. One person could do this in a couple of days, at most a week to iron out major bugs. There is probably a better way to do this, that would look better and not occupy that much space, but this at least it would be SOMETHING until they implement a better one. 2. As for the add-on rarity it would be just like you said, basically a checkbox, in fact you could easily make it so that you can select specific add-ons of any rarity. All you have to do is just to grey them out like when you ran out of them or like those offerings you can’t use. Like in the UI you make every perk selectable and you store their state in a file. It’s literally: addon_A = true addon_B = true addon_C = false etc. Again, they partially already implemented this with unselectable add-ons/ offerings. 3. For the perks it’s almost the same, but when some one selects a perk that can only be used x amount of times, once it has been selected x amount of times, you disable it. That simple. Of course they would have to make something so survivors can’t select their perks all at once. Like having only one survivor picking the perks for x seconds then, switching to the next survivor. Honestly, probably designing the UI for it would probably take longer than the actual system for these two. 4. Showing the perks and add-ons of survivors is already there in the end game. They could literally take that and put it in the lobby screen in the last 5 seconds in which you can’t change your perks, perhaps under the icons write their names so you don’t confuse some perks with similar icons. As much as I hate to say this, they are not the indie studio they once were. They’ve tasted the money and they got addicted. These are fairly easy and fast to implement, it would be a couple of months with the most thorough testing, other than maybe the replay, which you might want to test more. Instead, we get skins, because that is where the money is, but they fail to realize that a good comp scene and quality of life changes that make the game less frustrating makes players stay and new ones join meaning more potential skin and DLC buyers.
I’m sure a lot of the community would rather see you in a good mood playing whatever you want rather than just play DBD for the sake of the community. We all love you Otz, we will support you in anything you venture out to do
I honestly feel like he might be happier playing identity v. Similar to dbd, survivors have abilities and aren't just meat bags, and there's a lot of things built into the game to help solo queue survivors be able to work together. Although game isn't perfect... at least the match are more interesting to play (especially considering the fact that there's multiple gamemodes)
@@soIzec the game has crazy balancing issues and if he does I am gonna expect another 1h rant about how annoying Priestess is ( I didnt play the game in a long time but I just lost faith )

@n1ckrath actually same. Played the game since 2019 with 2 different accounts and I finally unisnatalled right before the chucky update, not even that brought me back, because xenomorph was so boring
i uninstalled immediately when BHVR's response to everyone hating the most barren god awful not fun for either side hellscape that is RPD was just to make it two maps and barely change it this plus BHVR dividing the playerbase and making solo queue torture with crossplay survivors just killed any fun i had with the game
In a different note, I’m so ready for more Variety Otz. I know it only rarely does well in the Algorithm, but at the same time, you’re adding more variety content into your algorithm with each upload of the type. At some point that whole ordeal has to even itself out, right? Eventually the variety content will do just as well? I’ll keep my fingers crossed 🤞
@@halcritic648 This video is doing about average as far as his recent vids are concerned, which is good! It's also still a Dead by Daylight video, which is the primary content he produces. Even if the focus isn't gameplay, the algorithm rewards consistency. Take a seat and listen. His Slay the Spire video - the most recent video on his channel - is sitting at 48k views after 2 days. This video has nearly five times as many views with only one extra day of exposure. Most of his other truly variety content fluctuates infrequently between being on the good-to-high-end of views, while the rest sit in abject view-poverty. That's just how the stupid YT algorithm works. Things that aren't consistent don't get pushed to viewers unless they ring the bell or are actively interested in Otz over his gameplay, and while you may be thinking "Most of Otz's viewers are like that!", the unfortunate truth is that they aren't. Very few content creators, if any, have a fanbase so dedicated that any video they produce will do similarly well. After a certain number of viewers it stops being as punishing, but you still see dips in views and audiences because that's how people work. If they see content they don't want to watch, they just won't watch it. Otz is a lovely, clever, wholesome person. Unfortunately, Otz is only at most *half* of the content in a given video. The other half is all gameplay. When you build an audience over several years of content and your focus is on one game in particular, consciously or not the audience starts to seek that content out. When the content isn't there, even if Otz is still the person posting, the audience may just not have enough interest in the variety content to support it. I'm not saying this is impossible, because you me and anyone could point at a very successful variety content creator and that would be a valid point. However, it takes a dedicated effort to do variety in a way that you can retain your audience, and for the first long while you may not be doing half as well as your normal content would. That makes it hard to financially sustain variety content unless you catch lightning in a bottle or have a large enough audience that it ultimately doesn't matter. I want so badly for Otz's variety content to succeed in a way that makes it feasible, I just don't know if the whole audience will be down for Slay the Spire, or Darkest Dungeon 2, or Dark Souls, or Elden Ring, or any of that content for it to be sustainable in the foreseeable future. I've still got my fingers, toes, and knees crossed that they *do* do well, but don't pretend like this video is indicative of anything deviating from the norm.
This is a sad video, man. It's sad watching someone who's tried all the time to help the devs make a better game coming to the realization that it doesn't matter. I hope BHVR will understand the damage they are making to the community with this. Anyways, whatever you decide to do with you channel, Otz, I will always be there.
Otz is literally a Fog Whisperer too, supposedly a person who the devs see as a model DBD streamer. If they refuse to listen to him, what hope do the rest of us have?
Y'all are overreacting, the game has improved A LOT - does this excuse their responses? No - but don't just enter this doom and gloom attitude as if the game is doing horribly
For real. A better option is to stop doing these Q and A's because every response is a nothingburger. That, and they pick and choose the worst types of questions and refuse to answer any of them anyways. Not having a Q and A is better than "yeah, we thought about it, but maybe in the next few years" "it's not a priority" and "we hear your concerns but ..."
The slay the spire content has been so incredibly fun to do with the chat. I hate seeing your zest for the game be sucked away but i can certainly understand. I hope you find success regardless of what you jump into otz
You are a wonderful person Otz, I play DBD because of you, I always try to be a reasonable person and help everyone I know in this game because it would be unfair for me not to share all the knowledge you shared with us first. Thank you very much, from the bottom of my heart. Hugs from Brazil❤
It was never about the DBD for me, I just love how engaging you are! It really improves my day to watch you with whatever you play. Looking forward to future ventures!
Thank you Otz for speaking on these things. DBD is slowly losing its passion. How much longer can its most loyal players keep supporting when even they get no real responses to concerning questions.
I honestly see two paths for dbd's future regarding this: 1. Dbd slowly loses players as the community's concerns are not met and more and more players just leave and the game turns into a cash grab trying to milk the most loyal players 2. Something major changes at BHV and this game magically gets a massive revival, getting content updates with more substantial and frequent balance changes and QoL changes. I'm leaning more towards the first option happening with how this Q&A went, which is a real shame
Players are gonna start losing that passion that the devs already have if they keep failing to address issues that have been in the game since it's inception.
it's just another corporation that only wants money , why would you ever think the developers actually care about their game? that's not how it works otz...i know it's sad but that's the reality , they don't care and give lame excuses for something that can EASILY be made in under 1 week by a decent developer...but hei it's impossible for them it takes 3 years to do 1 day work
What, if, in 2025, when GTA 6 get released, you can recreate DBD there in a roleplay server?! Would that work?! Only game and killer mechanics. Nothing else. @@enderminion9639
That General Perk thing actually kinda pisses me off, because the insinuation that new Killers won't need Gen Regression perks implies that they're perfectly fine with your experience being terrible at higher ranks until you grind the game out or pony up the dough. If a friend of mine were to get into the game, even if they play custom games and get good enough to be high MMR, they're just fucked in actual matchmaking because they didn't spend another $20 on perks :/
I bought the game around Tome 8/ Pinhead release. It was base game with Trickster. And I remember my build was Starstruck, NOED, Iron Grip and Tinkerer. And then I started the grind for Legion because Discordance and Iron Maiden. By the time I grinded up for Hag for Ruin, Ruin was nerfed to its current day iterant. I def missed out on some perks because I grinded to get them
Not only that, the grace period for a new player is 10-20 games, and you're thrown to the wolves. I remember when I started that's how many games it took until I started seeing rank 1 survivors and swfs all running unbreakable/DS with dead hard for distance. I started during the 5th anniversary and these 3 perks were at their absolute strongest. The new player experience is BRUTAL. These memories have been forever burned into my mind. Was seeing rank 1s every other game and I had under 50 hours and was a bronze 3 killer. That's insane to me and it shows by their comments here on it. Not saying I was losing every game, I was winning in these situations from time to time, but it was such a disgusting sweatfest and I was just learning still.
They NEED better base game perks for both sides. They have so many bad and niche perks that are not used and or do nothing. Also mikes answers were baffling 😂
All the base perks are so bad compared to most paid ones. This game is literally pay2win, then once mmr hits you need some skill. But before that, slap on bunch of broken perks and gen rush the killer or loop him forever.
They literally just reduced the cost of all OG characters from 9K shards to 4500. This still encourages the fun of grinding, but significantly cuts down on the time of acquiring new original killers for their perks. Did everyone forget this announcement, including Otz? lmao
It's amaizing how many people in comments are no longer playing DbD (or play with long breaks) yet watch every Otz's video. I havent played for 3 months yet i saw every upload, thank you Otz for making entertaining videos (even though the game is massively flawed and sometimes borderline unfun)
It’s really sad actually. Dbd is a game with such insane potential, a TON of people still play this game after all these years and it only has ONE single gamemode, imagine all the crazy things the devs could pull out to bring in more people and even older players back.
The fact that this video was only released a half hour ago and its generating so much buzz already should be hope that this is the gut punch the devs need
They will be unaware of this video's existance. At this point it's obvious there aren't people scouting the community, and popular content creators from ideas. They seem to actively brush them off even when they give feedback.
I can’t properly express how happy I am that you’re dialing back the amount of effort you will be putting into future DBD content, considering how much of it is completely ignored by BHVR. I know this isn’t where you wanted to end up, but I’m glad that you’re branching out into other games. Here’s to the search, for the next obsession! 🎉🎉
true, I doubt Otz assumes he has earned the attention of the devs. That said, he actually DOES deserve their attention at this point, considering he seems to put more critical thought into the game than the devs do lmao.@@iced_latteZ
@@enbybunny9940 ain't he a fog whisperer as well? If even that doesn't get at the very least the devs' attention on issues he mentions, I don't know what will :v
Thanks a lot for how much content you do and even more for how high its and your quality as a person is. Really appreciate your work and completely get the sentiment. I’m sure a lot of people still will watch you even if you branch away from making this much of dbd content exclusively. Take care!
Love you Otz, I dont even play DBD but watch your channel religiously because of the care and passion you put in your content. Make content that makes you happy and it will make people happy :)
It’s really unfortunate that Otz seems to have more passion for this game than the Devs actually do. It’s even more unfortunate that the lack of effort on the Devs part has made Otz and many others feel disheartened in their efforts to improve the game. DBD seems to be always going One Step Forward and then One Step Back; never really making any progress.🙁
Otz seems to forget that learning killers still have access to good perks like NOED, sloppy, and iron grasp until they unlock new characters for 4500 shards each since BHVR reduced the price of OG characters. His passion is being irrational.
@@JakeobE NOED only work on endgame and can be totally useless, sloppy is good but not enough on his own and iron grasp is dogshit and didn't do anything
Otz needs to leave this cesspit of a game and go find a new game to main. People fail to realize that this game will never be balanced. Bhvr makes money by releasing broken perks and killers only to then nerf them when the next one comes around. People dont want to except this but dbd will always be a fundamental garbage and terribly designed game On PURPOSE. so they can sell more shit. Not to mention the devs have ZERO idea how to make a game. Like dbd is the perfect example of what happens when you focus more on hiring for diversity and not hiring people who are actually fit for the job.
Shame that you're done doing content with suggestions, I enjoyed your passion towards the ideas and wishes from yourself and the community. Truly a shame that the devs rarely take the suggestions and if they do, some folk start blaming you for it. Hope you have a good time with future content, we'll be waiting to see more of your amazing work! ^^
Hey Otz, I completely agree with you. They add more killers and perks, making the game harder to play and learn. But they don't do anything to make the game easier or interesting for new players and veterans. Killers are forced to play a certain way or bring certain perks (which are already locked behind more money and grind). Survivors are forced to play in a team, otherwise the game is not enjoyable and it still is. The fact that they balance the game by looking at stats and change things that break the game in a completely different part of the code is mindblowing. They don't know how to work on their own game. I personally still like DBD, I want it to improve. Seeing you lose hope for it is really upsetting. I love what you do and I know that many other people live for your content. You are hitting 1 Million, both on RU-vid and Twitch very soon. I hope that you can appreciate all the good things DBD has given you and that you get enough love from people around you 💙
it's so sad that even league of legends managed to add better tutorials, better bots for training, easier times for players to learn the game. When even League, the game that almost managed to kill itself by only tending to e sport, managed to improve their new player experience, then you know dbd fucked up.
Honestly, good for you Otz for scaling back your content that you feel frustrated with! It’s awful knowing that the work you put your heart and soul into falls on deaf ears to the one group that matters. Do what is best for your sanity and mental health. Amazing content either way!
Otz you are big enough now where I truly believe you can split a lot more of your time on other games and still succeed. I’ve been an avid viewer of your streams for many years now and I feel like while I of course cannot speak for you, you have seemed less happy playing for some time now. Which is completely understandable as I don’t know how you manage it and the team’s comments here are icing on the cake. Wish you the best whichever direction you take and will be watching regardless, much love.
Otz, A. Power to you for giving yourself the break from trying to help the devs when they won't help themselves, it's a shame, but there's not much you can do. B. Play whatever you want mate, even if you suck, I'll be there. I'm not someone to watch super long streams or binge watch an entire VOD, but I remember seeing your VOD on RE Village and IMMEDIATELY sat down to watch THE ENTIRE thing in one sitting (I had not seen RE Village content at all, so it was my first viewing too). I love seeing what shenanigans you're up to, so keep at it however you want to do it :D
I'm really excited for Otz' content moving forward. I feel he has so much potential as a variety content creator and seeing him branching out a bit is very exciting.
Honestly, totally understandable. Having watched you play Darkest Dungeon, Hitman and Slay the Spire was so refreshing and so incredibly nice! No matter what I am happy to be here and watch you Otz!
"Our team has thought extensively about this topic. We are not going to do it because it isn't a priority or a real issue like you think it is. Thanks for joining us for the Q&A! See you in 3 years when we buff Trapper's trap pickup speed by 15% and nerf the Twins' Toy Sword, and other over-performing addons."
I get that "the devs don't play the game!" is a common criticism in any community, but I've never played a game where it's more blatantly clear that the developers genuinely don't play or understand how the game works at a high level. I don't know how anyone who's played this game for more than a few hours thinks that nerfing Nemesis' only good addon while leaving all of Blight's untouched is a good balance decision.
Hes been tilted multiple days now, man just needs a solid vacation. Tuned in multiple times to recent streams just to see him being upset and quiet and chat in emote only. Love the other content though, like Slay the spire.
It's a shame to see you so frustrated about something but honestly I fully understand where you are coming from, a lot of similar frustrations caused me to stop playing Rainbow Six Siege. In the end though, I and I'd assume many others keep coming back video after video not for watching DBD but for watching Otzdarva. Just keep doing what you love and trying what you want to try out. Much love from a RU-vid dweller!
Just wanted to add to the support for different games/content. Your Return to the Obra Dinn video is one of my favourites and I will happily support the branching out
I can't imagine having a content creator as amazing and thoughtful (in every way) as Otz and completely brushing him off like this. I started DBD long ago, quit almost immediately for years, did that two more times, and thought it all Otz was the most wholesome and engaging voice around the entire game. It's utterly disappointing to see BHVR not appreciate Otz the way we do, even if they do have laurels to rest on (out of sheer luck). Hopefully the next asym game to earn Otz' interest appreciates it, because the genre needs more competition.
Im very sad to hear that the "balancing videos" are going to stop because i really liked them and to see how much impact a perk/addon really had, but i also understand your frustraiton about the devs thus your decition
Otz the only reason I'm into DbD is because of your content, you bring so much to this community and I'm excited to see whatever you do moving forward.
I love your content, I know it's scary to switch from a game that brought you into the spotlight, however people stuck around because you are a genuine person who is entertaining and kind. I believe that no matter what you play, you will have many of use watching and enjoying the ride. Thank you for all of your positivity and content through the years.
I feel like the entire "data" for solo queue players was this. Solo queue players die more than full teams, therefore solo queue players dont work with teammates. They completely misread the data there.
They've been misreading the data literally forever. Remember a few year's back when the guy with the electric shock hair, lead gameplay director or whatever...remember he admitted he doesn't play the game, or doesn't solo queue ever or something?
They misread the data so often there was that infamous stream where they mentioned old OOO didnt show up as a problem on their data due to users of it dying the normal rate.
The worst part of the QnA is that they do it on reddit, meaning the devs can CLEARLY SEE what people do and do not want And then they just don't really use that information I think they may have pushed the priority of a Myers rework due to the last QnA they did before this one, but that's about it
I'm glad that you are going to lay off of the streak challenges. DBD can be crazy stressful by itself. I would get sad seeing you get stressed by a win streak as well as some not-so-good twitch chatters. You have been (and still are) such an optimistic yet grounded figure in the DBD community. The challenge to communicate the feelings of the community to the developers is immense. You can only hit your head against a wall for so long ❤ The time and effort you have put into measuring and analyzing DBD is very much loved by us. You are a great person, and many will enjoy your company no matter what game you play or activity you do!
Totally understand why the content is changing. Still sad to see it go. I really enjoyed listening to your technical breakdowns of certain add-ons or perks and suggestions or critiques of various aspects of the game. Always helped me see the more in-depth side to DBD and they're some of the videos I watch the most.
I’m really sorry you’re feeling so discouraged Otz. This QnA was really disappointing but please know that I still love your content and will support you no matter what 💙
This video should’ve been called “This is something we’ve been thinking about…” -BHVR Cause that’s all these “answers” are Stuff they they are THINKING about And if they do want to act on it they say it’ll take them years. But when it comes to stuff like skins, cosmetics, dlcs, they are quick to give legitimate answer. It just gives off the impression that BHVR’s only concern is the monetary gain they obtain from players making purchases around the game
-Question about a mechanic in the game Behaviour : We are aware blablabla no details right now blablabla maybe in 15 years -Question about cosmetics Behaviour : A skin for feng? Of course my good sir, right away, it'll be available next week!
Man, the only content that frequently release are either killers or skins. It's been this way for ages. The stuff the game actually NEEDS and has needed for a long time are basic map changes, reworks and new stuff on the maps besides JUST pallets. The fact they made breakable walls ad thing and now all those walls do is jsut allow for really strong windows and loops instead of being made to open up new paths and allow killers to make the tactical decision to open up new faster paths to get to survivors at the cost allowing the same survivors more escape routes to possibly stronger chase areas is a sign of that. Hell, they haven't added ANY new items to the survivors side...well...ever. It's jsut perks and it's only perks because perks jam the shrine of secrets from money locked characters perks showing up. Doors, windows, map hazards, new survivor items, laterial ways to help fix gens - like picking up spawned pieces that increase gen repair instnatly or something - and ESPECIALLY actually interesting offering choices. Like a offering choice that spawns 2 zombies on the map or really...anything fitting for the killer side would be great. But nah. Here's another 10 buck skin for legion.
hey otz :) i originally discovered your channel because i was new to dbd many years ago and wanted to learn things about the game, but i stayed and watched your content not only because of that but also because youre the most kind and humble creator in the youtube and twitch space, and i love the vibes in your videos. i (and i think many others) will still be watching your content regardless of what you do, so dont worry and keep going strong
Honestly, I am very scared when Otz says he will not do suggestion for balancing again I have been in some communities like Overwatch, Genshin, Apex and Valorant Losing someone like Otz is a death sentence He is a godsend to this community, which the community takes for granted I GUARANTEE you, if Otz made Videos like that for Valorant or Apex, you would see 10 Videos about him, how he defined a community every year. I am sorry you feel that way Otz, if you want to change content, I will be supporting you
You deserve to chase your happiness man. You’re seriously one of the best CC’s I’ve ever come across, and I know your content will thrive when you’re doing what you love. That’s been clear for years.
as someone who doesn’t play dbd and know you from your ds2 days (via your interaction in dist’s chat) i’m excited to see you branch out to more games. i love your darkest dungeon playthroughs and it was awesome getting to watch you play elden ring for the first time (although i wish it was on stream because there were points i wanted to scream things to you)
We'll follow you wherever you go otz, you've got people that enjoy what you do, even if you aren't the most knowledgeable at the thing in that moment. Keep your head up king your crowns falling
@lovequinn3030 Honestly, the game and the devs were already insufferable. Difference is that now, the antidote to that poison is gone. Otz isn't going to give feedback or solutions or inform the devs about what's wrong with their game. And I'm incredibly glad for him, because it can be so emotionally and mentally exhausting to have your feedback and solutions completely ignored, right to your face. And to be hopeful and optimistic for years. I think this would be a huge weight off Otz's shoulders. I'm happy he's looking out for himself and separating himself from the devs. 💜
Otz, i really appreciate you being honest with us about how you are going to branch out into other games because of the frustration and admitting that the content might not be the same. To be honest i love watching you play new games (and i hope others do too) because i find you really enjoy the learning curve of new games and just the breaks from dbd so keep it up
I'll miss your informative videos dissecting issues :( But I totally understand your decision. It's sad that all the effort and passion you put into these videos addressing all the issues with the games are so unforgiving and only give you backlash from the community that you were actually doing all the work for. For all that it's worth: I really appreciated all the thought and work that went into those videos and I'll keep supporting you!
That AMA was abysmal, especially after an enormous game-breaking bug managed to find its way back into the game. I don't blame you at all for backing off on this kind of content. The state of DBD is exhausting. I loved watching you play other games like Killer Frequency, Armored Core, and Hitman, so I'm excited to see what else you've got in store!
I could not support this decision more. Just like in any relationship, when the other ignores your efforts, you're justified in not wasting your time. But I do think your vids do help someone times. Even if it doesn't feel like it. Behavior does listen sometimes and I'm sure you're a big part of that
very excited to see some new content, love what you do and I'm also very frustrated with the movement (or lacktherof) in this game, and even moreso the community as of late. The Slay the Spire / Darkest Dungeon stuff has been really fun ! Hope to see more cool stuff in the future.
I loved when Otz played Killer Frequency. It was very entertaining and way more chill. I got to sit back, grabbed a drink and enjoyed a fun game played by a fun streamer. DBD lost that, i really wouldn't miss it
Wow, the devs really exceeded my expectations!! They defeated Otz so hard that he's gonna drift away from DbD (he's not gonna leave, but I wouldn't be surprised to see less DbD content). I wasn't really expecting this, Otz was your best content creator but you dissapointed him even though he wasn't really expecting much, just WOW.
Otz you've been a legend in this Community for quite some time, we will follow you to whatever new adventure you start next, we're here for you and your content man, keep up the fantastic videos!
I am so happy you covered this Otz, I have been on and off with DBD for about 6 7 months, I try the new chapter for a day or a couple of days and then uninstall. I feel like I lost the ambition to do good in the game and I cannot enjoy it at all as before not to mention that it got frustrating as hell to play. Its less fun and I do hope one day the spark returns...
I'm sure I'm not alone in saying that I watch the content for you and your personality and not just dbd. You have incredible knowledge about dbd, which I have always appreciated both when I was an absolute beginner and when I improved my skill level, but that isn't all there is to your content. You've got a good head on your shoulders and I love your sense of humor. As somebody who just quit dbd a few weeks ago over frustrations like this (and more), I totally understand. Much love!
