(Think why no rajput married her in Bundelkhand) Bajirao mentioned her as Mastani in the letters whenever he mentioned her whereas he always mentioned his wife as Kashibai or Peshwinbai in all correspondence. (bai denotes respect) There is not a single incidence in history where Bajirao took Mastani with him anywhere. ( Yes, Mastani has not faught even a single war. All those stories are fictional) Bajirao wrote many letters to his wife but there is not a single letter written to Mastani by him. Mastani had 1 child in almost 10 years but his neglected wife (as shown in fictional lovestory) got 3 children after Mastani's arrival. ( One child died as an infant in 1731. Immidiately after that they lost another child Ramchandra who was 6 years old. Raghav was born in 1733 and Janardan was born in 1735.) Bajirao did not give his legacy to Samsher. He got jagir of Banda, that was part of Bundelkhand and nothing from vast Maratha kingdom. Why? Agar Bajirao chahte to Samsherko Zansi de sakte the bcoz Zansi came from Chhatrasal but he did not give even Zansi to Samsher. (Remember it was Bajirao who made Holkar and Ranoji Shinde subhedars of south and north Malwa. He appointed Govindpant Bundele as the administrator of Zansi and Raghuji Bhosle of Khandesh. So think now, why? This is history. Bajirao did not do anything to free Mastani on his own in last 4 months, which was easily possible for him. If she was his wife, he should have freed her. Mastani was a mistress, not a wife. He was not at all sick as shown in film. He fell sick only 3 days before his death when he got fever on 25th april 1740. What did Mastani get? Peshwa's wife was eligible for revenue of only 2 villages? History is totally different. Mastani Bajiraope thopi gayi thi. It was an unusual political alliance. Chhatrasalne Bajiraoko apni betiko saupa tha and he paid compensation of 5 lakh rupees in gold for that. Bajiraone wo jimmedari nibhai hai. He has not done anything extraordinary for Mastani other than providing living for her n her son. The lovestory is written in Marathi literature. Mastani was not Bajirao's wife can be proven by letter written by Shahu maharaj and a chit written by Mastani herself to Nanasaheb in which she assured that she would behave as per his instructions and would come and sleep in that part of house where other women slept. ( So that she remained under watch) Do you think Peshwa's wife would do this?

In short i can only tell u that the film director did considerable research before making the movie, including getting statements from Bajirao's family descendants. It wasn't about who agreed or disagreed to what Bajirao did, it was about what happened. If not everyone in his family accepted to view her as a spouse, Bajirao DID view her as a spouse. The movie is showing a highly romanticized love story from both sides (Kashi and Mastani), in reality his marriages were mostly based on respect and, yet he was always far and busy with the states' affairs, he DID care for Mastani and tried to protect her from the turmoil that her presence created in his household.

First look there is a deference between the Hindu and Muslims religion. Priyanka grew up knowing that her husband would only love her because of her Hindu religion. Imagine the pain she felt when her husband betrayed her. And mastani grew up in a Muslim religion which aloud a man to have more than one wife. In the end Priyanka was the victim in this love story which ever way you look at it. If it were in ancient Asia then it would be justified.

Either it be dasharsth or lord krishna, it was not considered wrong during that period. The difference was that draupathi could marry 5 which is not acceptable in Islam as men and women have different status. One should know where to draw boundary. Finally, it doesn't mean that I don't symbothize with the character portrayed by Priyanka but still I understand the boundaries.

Instead it was forced by the mother on him which he was 'Nibhaoing' for the sake of the fact that Kashi was also innocent like Bajirao. Kashi indeed was a great women though for the sacrifice she made for Peshwa and future of peshwai. I will rate Kashi Bai as the strongest and most noble character of the story even above Peshwa himself but try to understand things on a broader perspective and you will realise that Peshwa was a victim aswell though Kashi was probably more so...
