Ranvir and Giovanni Jive to Candyman ✨ Week 8 Semi-final ✨ BBC Strictly 2020 

Can we take a moment to appreciate Giovanni in that sailor outfit🤤 couldn’t take my eyes off him

Felt a bit restricted and bland to be honest, you could tell she wasn’t as confident and was out of her comfort zone.

Ugh this is such a shame. For me Ranvir needed to show that she could cope with some of the latin dances and unfortunately she hasn’t done that for me tonight. Her weight was FAR too far back, if she pushed her weight forward and moved up onto the balls of her feet, not only would the dance have looked less laboured but we would have got some much lovelier retraction in the kicks and flicks. A real shame but for me this just was not up to the standard that i expect from a dance in the semifinal. 5/10 On the opposite hand, Ranvir’s confidence is what this dance really did show. This is a completely different human being from the ranvir of the launch show or even week 4 during cha-cha. I truly hope this has given her the confidence to believe in herself in whatever else she goes on to do in her career.

I actually really liked and enjoyed this! It's nice seeing her perform so confidently and having fun at the same time. Giovanni's totally right, from where she was at the start to now, it's astounding. Of course it wasn't technically great but somehow it doesn't seem to matter. And I have to say, I really like how supportive and nurturing a partner he is, it really shows with all of the people he's paired with, he handles those relationships so well.

It's so strange to see her not doing a ballroom dance, but she looked like she was enjoying herself in this dance and I always enjoy seeing her on the dance floor💖💖

This sounds a bit mean but I feel she was found out here. Herself and Gio have been given a very generous run of dances that worked for her and him compared to others and here is where we say the weakness in the Latin over the ballroom. It wasn't awful but it was not good either

I felt like she probably wouldn’t be good in the jive that’s why they kept giving her slower, romantic-type dances. She does have a good ballroom frame though.

This was not Ranvirs strongest dance but she has come so far from the first week and improved so so much! Hope she makes it through to the final!

Sadly, it was the weakest dance of the night. Although Ranvir did play the part, meaning that she showed the flirty and cheeky character of the jive, she had quite a lot of technical issues. Her chasses were a tad heavy and the were lacking the pendulum hip action. In addition, her kicks could have been much, much sharper and they were lacking the retraction of the knees. This dance totally didn't suit her at all. The only positive things I can say regarding this jive were Ranvir's musicality, her incredible partnership with Giovanni and her the right attitude and characterization she showed (even though, it was visible that she wasn't confident about this dance). My score: sadly, a 5.

I am scared! I don't want her to get eliminated or even be in the bottom two. It wasn't her best but she still deserves to be in the finale.Yhe jive has been a struggle for a lot of the celebs this season as well.

Gio knows what he’s doing though. A paired back waltz to show her skills and plenty of distractions in the jive to take away from the dance that was challenging for her. If she is in the dance off she’ll go through on the waltz. Can we take a moment to appreciate Gio in a sailor’s outfit though?

Nope. Sorry Ranvir but... not good. You've been hiding in ballroom, you weren't even eased into the latin, let alone jive.... sorry but this wasn't good. 5

It was really off beat!! Choreograph to the beat, should have been double time but it was slow

If she’d had Latin dances more, and less ballroom, she’d have left the competition earlier. She’s fortunate to have had so many ballroom dances, as that clearly her strong suit. But every Latin she’s done has been reserved and awkward and difficult to watch. I’m glad Jaime got through, because even though he’s not the best technical dancer, he can dance well enough in BOTH categories.

Usually love her but this was lacklustered and laboured, just when she needed a big performance. This could be her very last dance maybe?

Awful Jive. Her kicks and flicks were so weak and laboured, like no effort was put into them. It was just bland to watch from start to finish. Her Waltz was great, but this was terrible.

Oh Ranvir! No!! I hate to say this but this was weaker than her Week 1 performance and I wasn't a fan of it. The execution felt weak imo. There wasn't an ounce of sharpness at all and in jive you need to be sharp in the execution. However, I don't entirely blame them for the downfall. The band slowed the original pace of the song by A LOT and in my opinion, it disappointed the performance. I hated to say this but they might be in the danceoff, but I really dont want them to go home. They have proved me wrong since week two after I said Gio would not get far. I hope they make it! *6*

If you could see what Giovanni said when talking to Claudia 😍🥰 They are smitten and I don’t blame them 😍to be honest I have watched it a few times and it gets better the more you watch it!! Maybe a 6/7 not a five as always from Craig 😠

It was not her best to be fair. She was marked harshly for technique, which was right, but Bill Bailey's Tango had no technique either and he gets 8s. Guess who the judges want in the final.

you know what? she looked a lot better yesterday in the rehearsal run through so i think craig slating their waltz (the dance she was confident she’d do well in) knocked her confidence and took a toll in her jive. i’m actually fuming especially against craig because he clearly had it in for her last night. they put ranvir and gio in the death-slot 2 WEEKS IN A ROW like what the actual hell

I felt horrible when the couple got a low score - especially a 5! I really hope they get to the finals because I strongly believe they have potential! Loved the Waltz! Please vote for them! :)

What is the point in entering a dance competition with already exceptional dancers from the start this is a very unfair advantage and really not what Strictly "Was" about 🧐 You have got my Votes Ranvir and Giovanna 👍

This is why Ranvir had to go you have to be able to adapt with versatility you cannot coast your way to the final solely on your ballroom.

Ok. She gave it her all. Ranvir is good at ballroom if not amazing. But... when it comes to lively Latin dances she struggles. 6

See, now this is the thing, compare this to maisie's jive. Who's better, imo, maisie. THIS is when you can see a true comparison of dancing ability. Having them dance all different styles is not basis for fair competition. I liked the old days, half did ballroom, half did a Latin. Makes much more sense than this set up.

She didn’t do well there, her kicks should have been higher with more tenacity!

A little bit heavy, and maybe stompy because of Ranvir’s feet action. The choreography was a well done, but it was not her dance. 7

Should of been couples choice, which would of done 100x better and she's the only one that hasn't done one.

We can’t lose these two now!! I know it wasn’t a perfect jive but she gave it her best shot But we know she can do better and that’s why we need her in the final. She’s much better than Jamie aswell

Ok this was not good at all. I don't know how everyone saw a confident girl in this dance I thought she looked very uncomfortable and timid. Hip action was great on the stage and acting but oh dear when we got in to the Jive. It was very slow and basic, no bounce whatsoever and her retraction wasn't really there. Such a shame as her Waltz was great. She can do Ballroom but not Latin, she just isn't an all rounder sadly. This fell flat but great partnership and she had good toe heal swivel, also pretty nice kicks and flicks. It wasn't all bad but for the Semi finals this was poor. The good thing is if she is in the dance off she will do her Waltz and nail it, that's the beauty of getting one dance that doesn't suit you. Hence why they felt safe to give her Latin. *6/10*

7 This was undermarked! It was fun and exciting, ranvirs hip was yet again very good, her kicks were loose though at times and could do with being more sharper, although craig has undermarked a lot of her routines e.g. jive waltz and argentine

When I heard the music and saw the colour theme it made me think of Faye and Giovanni's Jive to Reet Petit in 2018 I hoped that Ranvir's jive would be just as high energy as Faye's was but sadly not. I feel sorry for Ranvir being picked on like that but the jive is hard

shes done the same slow style week after week, last week was just 2 big spins, and judges say your amazing, overated . glad she went , she wasnt that good . jamie deserved to go to final, he has danced so many different styles not just slow slow bloody slow ..

She’s definitely a ballroom Queen but having watched this a second time it wasn’t THAT bad. I feel she has done too many ballroom dances very similar to each other in recent weeks which is not her fault so it was nice to see something different. She is such a breath of fresh air and I have really warmed to Giovanni this series- he’s been lovely.

UNPOPULAR OPINION & SPOILER ALERT: Ranvir was plain sailing through with one ballroom dance after another. The moment she was given her 2nd dance out of hold - she crumbled. I’m glad Jamie got through over her because although technically not perfect, he’s more versatile and overall a better dancer - although Ranvir’s ballroom was some of the best we’ve seen on strictly.

Although she is beautiful at the ballroom dances I’m sorry to say but she can’t do the Latin. She’s been given ballroom dance after ballroom dance which is totally unfair on the other contestants! If you can’t do both, you shouldn’t make it to the final 🤨

Giovannis good at covering up the fact she was struggling with the amount of content which drifts away from it

Am I the only one who felt that was incredibly short? I’m always a sucker for a swing style jive, though I have to admit she lost steam pretty quickly in it. It wasn’t one of her stand out routines sadly. (6)

Personally, I think people who are good at most dances should be in the final such as Maisie and hrvy. I think it will be between ranvir and bill who will be going home tonight sadly.💞

She was very tight, her weight was very back and her kicks were very weak. 4

Choice of music didn't help. Jive ideally requires a quicker tempo which made the dance look laboured. I will say that Jive took me the longest to master and Ranvir is still learning.
