I feel this song in particular deeply. I have an autoimmune disease, lupus. My best friend has lyme disease. I'm familiar with the depression and mental illness it can cause. I'm 64 and I've been deep diving on ren for about a week now. He is absolutely amazing.
That's a damn nice comment right there. I'm 48 and I doubt Ren or anyone else could ever become thee "artist of my lifetime". That phrase is a little too odd and singular (?) for me personally. But I do understand that sentiment. He has certainly bowled me over. Respect.

Chinchilla is FIERCE and she's popping out hot tracks like they're pop-tarts... Sam Tompkins "Lose it all" is just amazing... and Ren? Ren is a once in a lifetime artist and i don't say that lightly. You have no idea the rabbit hole and the amazing music this man creates. Singer, rapper, producer, songwriter, poet, bard, self taught on the guitar and other instruments, independent.... 💙💙💙

Ren has written and read the sory of his 8 year nightmare with getting a diagnosis and treatment for Lyme disease. Thise Chapters can be found on his other channel Renmakes stuff. .Yoy done have to react to them but yoy coyld lusten to them. Ren wanted to a story of hope for those who are still in the dark and missing from life due to chronic illness. He is fulfilling a promise he made when he was trying to break free. Ren is such an inspiration. He is music.
Ren was treated for psychosis (being given meds which did more harm than good) which was actually caused by undiagnosed Lyme disease, which wreaked havoc on his mind and body. He's since been going through stem cell transplants, which has helped him.

Ren is a relatable voice for everyone dancing in the darkness as he eloquently, with all the authenticity of someone who is painfully familiar with it, lets us know that we are not alone and inspires us to keep dancing. And in doing so, Ren has literally saved lives with his art. I see that you have already checked out Sick Boi and Troubles so I will just add a suggestion to check out one of my personal favourites that doesn’t get nearly as much attention as it deserves: Crutch feat. Bibi. It’s an older song from before Ren was finally correctly diagnosed with Lyme disease and was written after a breakdown following multiple emergency trips to the hospital. It is heart wrenching and stunning. And a little help to guide you on your journey: While I’m sure plenty of people will tell you to react to the trilogy of tales in the correct order, it is often overlooked that there are a few other songs best done in order of release (though doesn’t have to be in one sitting): Freckled Angels -> Suic!de -> For Joe. Ren is so good. Believe it or not, he was in a slight diss battle with King Dotta where Knox Hill was in as well. Knox beat Dotta but Ren finished him. In a good way. You should check it out.
Ren's by far the most talented musician I've been introduced to in the last 30 years. He's a really admirable man, too. Excellent, excellent reaction! I've been sharing Ren songs with my sister, who is a therapist. One of the modalities she uses is music therapy, and recently she told me that she's been sharing Ren with some of her clients, especially one who is suffering from Lyme disease, like Ren. We both grew up in a pretty dysfunctional family, on the "wrong side of the tracks," and had a lot of issues ourselves. So Ren has definitely resonated with us! Thanks for the reaction, and subbed! 🤠

I can't remember what the disease is that he has but he spent a large portion of his life being misdiagnosed and it cause him a lot of pain. The dude has a really cool story. Which is cool because he's a great lyrical storyteller.
He is a beast on his Fender Telecaster, bass, acoustic, classic and piano and has a beautiful voice that can do any genre. Besides the story telling that is. 😊
Lyme disease. Spelled correctly. Bitten by a TIC. A very nasty and poisen insect that give you infection and with no treatment you can slowly die. It attacks every part of you inside, even the brain.
I love what he does in this, the cynical and negative side has a response to everything, and it’s so true to what we all go through. Trying to reason why he still needs him, and how he provides a service, giving him perspective, but then saying “you are nothing and cant get acknowledged”. It’s just a beautiful piece

People see themselves in it and they see the familiar struggles that they have some experience of, but everyone sees something different. What you shared in your reaction leads me to believe that you have often acted as your brother's keeper even outside of the group home sitch. Thank you for that too. There are a lot of hardened hearts in this world and bless you for feeling it. The black mirror sometimes takes on different shapes of mental illness and sometimes mental health. People sometimes see their own demons in the struggle and might claim it is about addictions. People see different aspects in it, because what it's really all about is the human condition as a whole. Great reaction and analysis, my own background was 16 years in psych emergency and emergency room (Psych Evals) as an MFT. So I really appreciate watching and listening to someone who has applicable knowledge, but also like myself if dealing with similar struggles, both physically and mentally. Great job! I'm 66 and living with chronic pain. Hearing him say "Complete the Goal" had an impact on me as well. My 91 year old mother with dementia lives with me and some days are very difficult. It's easy to lose who we are and we can't let our illness or pain define us.
Loved your reaction! I LOVED the symbolism of the lights flickering. I have always thought the flickering is to show when Ren's "shadow" is present. So at the end when he is standing and wooing and the lights are going crazy, I interpreted it as the shadow and the self are finally one to show that we can befriend our shadow to move forward in life.

I usually cry to this song because of Ren’s messages, but this time, it was your words at the end that made me release tears, and not in a bad way. Just hearing that getting the mail is a victory if you’re in bed (which is exactly what I did just before you said that!), and the incremental steps to other little (but oh-so-very-big victories) is so validating to hear. ❤

Great reaction. Ren's mad talented and has a lot of deep, intelligent, emotional things to say. His catalog, however, is quite diverse, and he has a lot of fun, silly songs too. You would probably enjoy his recent release, "Troubles." Great track, and he just released a live acoustic version as well. Both are great. My favorites this week are "Illest of Our Time," "Murderer," "Ocean," and "Seven Sins." Edit: just saw your Troubles vid, i thought you'd get it. Ren is an all around genre bending artist. He did put out an album of Rap songs but previously it was a lot of pop/ska. Amazing cover song mash up with his old band is I Shot the Sheriff/Road To Zion/ Hip Hop outside preformance but with Ren in THE RED SUSPENDERS 🔥, Back on 74, Fred Again Mash Up, Nas cover and Struggles. Sorry you went through that. The field is challenging rewarding and stressful. I love it. But you can get burnout. Not from the clients. They're awesome once you get used to their personality or personalities.. it's the office and government who gets involved and make it all about money and not helping or misdiagnosed them ON PURPOSE. My integrity meant more than example some one with Bi polar they want me to diagnose as Borderline. Because more funding and money for the company. I can go on for days about the BS I dealt with...after 6 years I was done

1:12 I don't know the musical terms to communicate what I hear with the bass note and plucking rise and fall, so I'll just say the initial melody (?) is a very old and traditional standard that you can catch in almost all music from different cultures. It's basic structure and format is one of many core principles from which to expound upon. It's not Eminem: It is music. Edit: Sorry, I forgot to say how much I am loving your whole individual approach to your reactions. I'm always for the bar breakdowns, but your amiable style is refreshingly nice. I don't get F bombed every other word. :)
