The zappa troll is almost in every elvis Video and always write the same crap about elvis, he need attention, he probably write down the questions and answers to present them here, i laugh my ass off, hahahaha 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣
Not to hurt feelings but the music of today the majority is pure trash. Music that glorifys the gang bang lifestyle - which never leads to positive results. Elvis is pure magic - pure talent - pure charisma - no auto tune or gimmicks -- multi generational
That's right. elvis was a true musical genius unknown to many in the world. many musicians and artists who met elvis personally later said that elvis was very creative and a musical genius. and it was all natural. elvis didn't need music lessons or dance lessons etc. everything was given to him by nature.
You know your history? I think that's wonderful. Keep researching these fabulous interesting subject. I think there's don't quote me but I read there approximately are 400 books about him.
GET BACK is a famous Beatles tune. What made people see Elvis as corny was all the damn corny impersonators, but Seeing Elvis live was a magnificent evening you never forgot.
Elvis was the most gorgeous man that ever walked the planet. He was born in a 1 room shack of a house his dad built with money he borrowed from his boss on January 8, 1935 in Tupelo, Mississippi. That's how dirt poor they were. He was one half of identical twins; the other boy - Jesse Garon - was stillborn. They were so poor, that Jesse Garon was buried in a shoebox in an unmarked grave. At Graceland they have a plaque with his name on it in his memory. He always got along with the black community and learned a lot about music from his friends of color. Also, according to the one drop rule, Elvis would not be considered white, since he has Cherokee ancestors on both the Smith (his mother) and the Presley (his father) sides of the family. His paternal grandfather was not happy that his two sons, Elvis' father Vernon and his brother Vester, married two sisters, Gladys and Clettes who were known to have Cherokee blood in their family tree. But he was in denial about the Cherokee blood in his own family tree. As a child, Elvis already had many friends in the black community at the time his family was one of 4 "white" families that lived in the predominantly black neighborhood The Hill, just across from Shake Rag. His childhood friend Sam Bell said that some of the (black) kids in that neighborhood had lighter skin than Elvis (ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-LrFCyNMvZWk.html). One of Elvis' bodyguards once said that he thought it was a miracle Elvis got into Humes High School in Memphis, because it was "lily white". Elvis wanted to be more open about his Native ancestry, but his manager "colonel" Tom Parker (real name Andreas van Kuijk) was against it because he was afraid it might cost Elvis fans (and himself money). They did have Elvis play characters in his movies though where he had Native American blood (Flaming Star, G.I. Blues, Stay Away Joe). Once Elvis had his own (apprentice) job learning to be an electrician, he saved up his money and bought his clothes in the same style that many of his friends of color wore. He was called a (forgive me, just stating facts here) "n-lover" and got beaten up several times too. Later, when he was an established star, he would not perform at places where the members of color of his back-up band/orchestra weren't allowed.
Elvis, bought all his clothes at Laskey's on Beal Street, where BB King, Fats Domino, James Brown and, all his colored friends bought theirs, he never bought his clothes anywhere else, all through his life after moving to Memphis when he turned 14!
(I thought it was a 2-room shack that his dad built in Tupelo. Yeah - lap of luxury, right? 😉 Of course it doesn't matter; Jesus Christ was born in a smelly manger; a stable.)
@@TakersMissy, yes, it was a two room shack. You come in from the front porch into a big bedroom, through a narrow doorway into a large kitchen and out the back door. I went there a couple of years ago.
I have to say this too about Elvis . He saw no racial boundaries . He employed many people of color and in the Deep South they were treated differently in years past. Elvis wasn’t having it . It was treat them right or we don’t perform . He was a social justice warrior ahead of his time and did the right thing
Elvis was once asked "Elvis, how do you react when fans trash your property?". To which he answered "oh well, they bought it for me, so they can trash it". LOLOLOL what a great answer. I'd imagine that grace, is part of why many still remember him. 😎🥃
@thelittlemrs because he didn't say that. He actually said "I don't care if they rip the shirt off my back, they paid for it". They were tearing his clothes off him back then He never mentioned trashing his property!
What he was saying is that he dated her big "older" sister but she did him wrong. So now he's gonna try her little sister in the hopes she won't do what her big sister done. Hence the lyric " little sister don'tcha do what your big sister done!
Not only was he a phenomenal entertainer with a voice that is unmatched. He was the most generous person. He would literally hand out Televisions and cars to strangers. He was so humble. Grew up dirt poor...served in the military and never ever once forgot his roots.
The most feeling singer who could portray those feelings through his voice. I wish to God he had lived a full life. He had so much to show the music world
Elvis was a true musical genius. No matter the song, and he gets knocked for doing covers (as if people don't sing covers today) but Elvis could get more out of any song he sang than OG artist. After Paul Simon heard Elvis ' sing Bridge Over Troubled Water, he literally said he wouldn't sing again because Elvis had taken Simon's song to another level not even Simon ever conceived and Elvis was less about lyrics and more about producing and arrangement. He would not stop recording until he got the sound right. That man operated on a level no one else could and his voice is so unique that professional vocalists and musician literally put him in own category of singing. In fact, Elvis was so much about sound that he would purposefully sing off key and to him, music was limitless. Elvis could actually go from big Gospel to a soft ballad, an operatic style, and yodel. Elvis means more to music than people realize because he influenced the biggest names in music and created how every artist now performs.
Amen! Even MJ copied some his moves, like going up on his toes. No other singer was moving on stage. They all stood still, even groups. Imo, having back up dancers also came from him. Once he danced then others did, and of course had to keep building on the performance. He may not have written, but noone was at that time. Songs were written by the likes of Mel Torme, Burt Bacharach and Carol King. Many do write today, but Jlo, Celine and Beyonce dont write their own stuff. We have Sia, LP and multiple 'ghost writers' for that, and it doesnt mean theyre less talented... some are writers, singers, musicians. Its also said that Elvis cant be auto tuned. He had 'almost' perfect pitch and could sing 3 1/2 octaves in one note. If a note is off key then Autotune picks the next best one. Autotuning Elvis would make it sound off key. Elvis was a natural producer. He didnt write but he rearranged it to suit his style and in my opinion, he made it better. He had the perfect tone and buttery smooth transition between hooks. I might be wrong, but i think he was the first to 'sample' or aka mash up songs, too. He was just endlessly talented and sometimes all i can do is ache. ❤️🩹🕺👑❤️🔥
@@karencarlos3942 Everyone who makes music or made it after Elvis, has felt the influence of Elvis Presley despite them not knowing, realizing it, or denying it. Yes, I feel he should get credit for back up dancers because of Jailhouse Rock. The titular song number was choreographed by Elvis and the first use of back up dancers (to my knowledge) is the first music video even though that's not what Elvis was doing but that's such a great example and beautiful metaphor for the genius of Elvis. Elvis was doing things no one was doing at the time. He was so far ahead of his times, I argue that Elvis is still ahead of the times & just waiting for us to realize it, so things like Jailhouse Rock laying out a formula, aesthetic, and concept of telling the story of the song with artist and back up dancers all dancing to the song on a set including actors & props telling the song's story is a music video. Elvis just used what he had at the time so it was a scene in a movie but to this day.... that's studied as the first and one of the best. Elvis' skill was on a level that no one else could comprehend.
If I was a singer I wouldn't want elvis to cover my song...my version would then suck. He could sing anything..he even laughed in tune..crazy..miss him 💙💙💙
@@user-gz9jp3fj2d Me either but on the other hand, it would be the ultimate recognition. Bob Dylan's career highlight was Elvis signing his song and to know that the greatest singer of all time likes your song so much that he wants to sing it. What would be better than that!
I was lucky to see Elvis in concert 4xs, 3xs in 1974 and once in 76' and I wouldn't trade those experiences for anything. When he walked out on stage you could feel his presence like a bolt of lightning!
In the song he had a date with the big sister, she left in the middle of the movie with another guy, now he's dating the big sister's little sister and he is saying don't do the same thing she did.
That's thing about Elvis, after you start paying attention to him... you'll pay attention forever. Also, his catalog is over six hundred songs and while they call him The King of Rock N Roll now but that was what his peers called him because of his command of the stage.
He sings a medley of Little Sister/ Get Back, I Was The One, Love Me, Are You Lonesome Tonight - yet the song title on the clip said Words and he didn't even sing that song x Just remember he was using wired mics, no auto-tune, no dancers, no pyrotechnics just raw talent x
He went from his song to a Beatles song. It's a Medley. Trying to get to you and If I can Dream from his 68 comeback special. Jailhouse Rock video. You can't go wrong with Elvis. Love him forever
ELVIS sang to everyone in the room. My mom and entire family absolutely loved Elvis. My mom was only 2 years older than him and she considered him family. We followed his life and loved every new record when it came out. You said something that is so true. As a teen in the 60's music was everything. We had live teen bands that played in different town halls. Every Friday and Saturday night we would get dressed up to go dancing. My daughter loves salsa and used to dance to it , but the passion we had back then isn't present in the same way. I enjoyed your reaction. Thanks from a soon to be single soon to be 70 year old woman who loves to dance and listen to music..
That was Elvis revisiting some of his older hits. He wasn’t interested in stagnation, but he respected his fans and appreciated that they loved the old stuff.
I am a big Elvis fan but when he said that he was actually saying it to a fan in the audience. I thought it was cruel, not to mention that it ruined a beautiful song "Are You Lonesome Tonight". That fan might have come from the other side of the world to hear him sing, and he gets insulted? I think when Elvis fans paid to see Elvis, they wanted to hear him sing from the bottom of his heart, not to ruin a beautiful song like that. I guess he was high when he did it.
@@saphireblue3563 Elvis was always cutting up and changing lyrics to get a rise out of the crowd. It was part of his shows. He said in an interview that he fed off of the crowds and knew when to turn it up. His concerts were meant to be entertaining and not taken serious like other acts. He said in 1956 that "people wanna be entertained and not hear a song as it sounds on record. If that were the case they could just stay at home and put the record on and save their money".
@@mikem957 Well I will always love Elvis but I think he was wrong about that. I think the first reason fans loved Elvis was that he sang with such deep feeling, way down deep in his soul. I know if I had paid good money to see him, I would have been sorely disappointed when he ruined beautiful songs by laughing in the middle of them, etc especially if you were looking forward to hearing him sing something beautiful like "Are You Lonesome Tonight" and he trashed it like that. No one was going to see a comedian. They were going to see the greatest singer in the world. That is just my feeling.
Elvis was everything. People from all over the world, would come to see him because he didn’t go to other countries. Go see the movie, before it leaves the theaters.
Polo, you are my favorite reactor. You have kind eyes and your intellect shows through. Music brings us all together. Love Elvis. Good and kind man. He was special.
To get a real feel for the power of his voice, listen to If I Can Dream. This was Elvis goofing around, which gives you one part of his personality, but other songs will tell you how he could pull you in vocally. In The Ghetto, Suspicious Minds. His love songs are a whole other thing❤❤
A very nice and respectful reaction so thanks to you. The Baz Luhrmann Elvis movie is currently doing great business and I note from a multitude of comments from younger folk that they are blown away by the film and see how Elvis was so talented, influential, and charismatic.
@@lindaware8188 Much as I sympathise with your comment, and as an AVID fan for over 55 years, have everything of note, I will not see the film as I know too much. I am however delighted that Baz has introduced a whole new generation to Elvis which no previous 'biopic' has achieved. I am not a film director or such but he knows the market, did his homework, used his experience, resulting in current takings of $270 million and that is the name of the game.
@@gorse9030 I understand. It concerns me, that what is viewed , is seen as truth rather than a fictional presentation, made for $$$$$. Only my opinion, but I have heard too many, taking this film, as a documentary. If this film, actually encouraged finding out, who Elvis truly was and the huge contribution he has made, then I am for it, however, I have not seen that happening. Something I really enjoy and encourage, would be the young people , who are reviewing his music, for the first time . I love the reactions, especially, when they had no idea, how fantastic he was.
@@lindaware8188 Again I sympathise and concur with a lot of your points. If I had made the movie, I guess I would (having not seen it but on comments I have seen), done it differently and more to the true facts, but I am certain my version would not have got the millions through the cinema doors like Baz has achieved. The vast majority of cinemagoers will go back to their own favourite artists and genre, but I definitely think there will be a small percentage that will go down the rabbit hole of Elvis music, and a larger percentage will now play his music NOW AND THEN, which they had not done previously, and have a greater respect for his enormous talent. That's all fine by me and the best a fan can hope for on an artist who passed away 45 years ago.
Unlike performers today Elvis always had fun on stage. Even when he would forget the lyrics you gotta check out the whole Aloha from Hawaii concert. All the proceeds were donated to charity and they raised over 200k $ a huge sum in 1975.
Even though his voice was tired in this live Elvis had phenomenal range and clarity. He loved to sing gospel. And his band and back up singers were extroidinary. His voice, sex appeal, and commanding presence were undeniable. The summation is - Elvis, The King.
You need to check out "If I Can Dream" and "In The Ghetti" by Elvis. "If I Can Dream" is a tribute to MLK that he performed for his 1968 special a few eeks after MLK was assassinated.
Great reaction Polo. 😄 Elvis was so naturally funny. He changed some lyrics as he went along, but unlike so many songs today, he was never vulgar. His was a family show. Parents and kids attended. Fantastic performance.👍🥇
Elvis was doing a medley of 2 songs. He was cool and all of the guys wanted to be Elvis and the girls loved him. He was so good looking absolutely beautiful!
@@keirgazelle2451 NO blasphemy at all intended... BUT I LOVE THIS! (WE KNOW GOD has a great sense of humor or he wouldn't have given all of us our own)
@Susan May I grew up going to the Elvis movies and buying his records as his songs came out on the records years ago. When a singer combined more than one song, that was what we called it back in the 1960's.
Elvis has many sides! All of them are equally amazing! Keep reacting to the King & I am sure your appreciation will continue grow & grow! Great reaction! Thanks 🎸❤🕺😇🎶🎵
and here is another side. Elvis started using drugs in the army back in 1958. Check this out In 1970 Elvis writes to President Nixon (the I am not a crook guy) and offers his services to help combat illicit drug use in the USA. Elvis mentioned that he knew a lot about drugs and was accepted by the hippies. He said he could go right into a group of young people or hippies and be accepted which he felt could be helpful to him in his drug drive. Nixon and Elvis exchanged pleasantries and agreed that “those who use drugs are in the vanguard of American protest.” In 1977 Elvis dies of drug overdose and drug abuse. Putting Elvis in charge of speaking on narcotic abuse is like leaving Dracula in charge of the blood bank. Hypocrisy: What is an example of hypocrisy? People who tell you not to eat candy while they chomp away on candy all day.
Be careful the zappa troll is almost in every elvis Video and always write the same one_sided rubbish about elvis, he probably write down the questions and answers to present them here , to get attention, hahahaha
Mom took me when I was 6! 1973 and I still remember it to this day. Mostly the ladies screaming, lol. I was very fortunate to see him live. So good to see others appreciating him still. My mom cried the day he died.
I was 11 years old living in South America when I first heard of Elvis Presley! We were mesnerized! For the young people who do not know much about Elvis, check out the new movie Elvis! Austin Butler did a terrific job portraying one of the best performers that has ever lived!
@@bwana-ma-coo-bah425 It id an opinion held by most sane people….I see you’re still trolling Elvis reaction channels….you definitely need professional help.
The male background singers are J.D. Sumner and The Stamps. J.D. is the one with the low voice you can hear throughout the songs. If I remember correctly he was at one point in the Guiness Book of World records for having the lowest voice. We went to see them in concert once and we sat toward the back.... his voice was so low the seats were vibrating at times. Very down to Earth man.
He was so funny!!! Love his raw talent! He touches my soul ALWAYS! I really like your background. The thing is...there is very few talent that can sing without auto-tunes anymore. IMO Plus Elvis was fine as hell LOL!
Among so many other qualities Elvis was one of the best live performers ever. He could turn the most mundane thing into a magical moment for all to enjoy. He was THAT good!
Please react to Elvis on stage in Las Vegas singing Suspicious Minds that will blow your mind, now that’s a performance. After all he will always be the greatest entertainer that ever lived and the most beautiful man ever.More Elvis please 🙏 his first love is Gospel great reaction Love from Denise in Yorkshire England 👑👑👑🕺🏻🕺🏻🕺🏻🎸🎸🎸👏👏😘
Very rare to see Elvis sitting down. Lol He needed to rest. He had so much charisma and he loved his fans! I subbed, and gonna request couple songs to see different sides of him. Suspicious Minds 1970 live in Vegas 68 Comeback Special in black leather sitting down Heartbreak Hotel/Trying to Get to You & in white suit If I can Dream 1972 Bridge over Trouble Water & How Great Thou Art I Washed My Hands in Muddy Water. Elvis's first love was gospel and rhythm & blues. He grew up very poor & when he got his break he bought his parents Graceland. He was very humble and a generous heart that never forget where he came from. Suggest short documentary Elvis...King of Kindness or A Generous Heart only 14 min...A lot of his generosity was never recognized. Thank u...TCB ⚡👑🌹
I'm a huge Elvis fan, but I've never seen this clip. Thank You!! I also LOVE that he infused the Beatles 'Get Back"!! And - I always enjoy your reactions. 72 in Louisiana
Speaking as an old musician, they didn’t work months or years to get the songs down, they didn’t have the luxury of that kind of time. They had to learn fast. They were just that good.
Unless it was a 'message' song....its really not about the lyrics. It's about everything else he brought that no one else has been able to. Keep watching and I guarantee you'll get Elvis and why he's still The Goat...yeah I said THE GOAT. PEACE!
Deep dive into Elvis -- you'd love the vegas years. You'll learn that the stereotypes of Elvis were just as cruel and untrue as any other stereotype. There is great stuff Elvis did from '69 right up to his death in '77.
