So I moved down to Medellín Colombia a little over 4 yrs ago. I have always thought poor Elvis he cant go anywhere in the world bcz he's so recognizable. Well here they really haven't been turned on to him. So I gladly always say you need to see the king. Afterwards all the ladies are so turned on! It's funny and I get to see people initial reaction to the best entertainer the world has ever seen. Every single time I show it the expression on the all the ladies faces is priceless!

Clarify; it wasn’t Elvis’ music. Elvis’ never wrote a song. Other people wrote for him once he was a huge success. When he was starting off he just performed blues songs black artists wrote, with a country twang.

I saw Elvis live in 1972. He laughed a lot at the "showbiz" part of his act. He did NOT take himself seriously, he laughed as though he were laughing with the audience and the show. He also let the audience take pictures. The audience he drew was the most mixed type of people I have ever seen. EVERYBODY went to see Elvis.

@freddysnip6257
@freddysnip6257 3 года назад
@@guytansbariva2295 Hey could barely play an instrument? First of all, his voice was his instrument! And second, He could play the guitar (rhythym) Obviously you never saw the '68 comeback special, where he played the guitar on several songs, and even did an outstanding job during Baby What you want me to do. Just listen to his first Sun recordings, and there you can here he was an accomplished rhythym player. And yes he used his guitar as a prop too on stage during the concert years, and was part of his act! He didn't know how to read music, but neither did Jimi Hendrix, that says nothing at all. Elvis had enough musical knowledge to work with his musicians in the studio and stage alike! He also did play the piano very well. He also did play the bass part on Baby I don't care in 1957, since Bill Black who was used to a stand up bass, couldn't handle the Fender bass, so Elvis played that part. I'm reading these arguments over and over again, and mosly by people who base their facts on assumptions and general opinions. And even if he couldn't play an instrument at all, Elvis would still have been a great entertainer. Please note that even James Burton stated that Elvis had a sense of rhythym on guitar, that only few people have. Glen Hardin his piano player stated that Elvis could play the piano, but was not a virtuoso.

@@guytansbariva2295 I agree on drugs as in prescribed meds in excessive doses, and he was manipulated in some ways yes, but he had the choice to say no. As far as drinking alcohol, many people claimed he did, I don't know where that comes from, but he wasn't a drinker.

@guytansbariva2295 3 года назад
@@freddysnip6257 Ok, so he didn't drink, big deal. Southern boy raised by his Momma, makes sense. ELVIS could sing any song with conviction. He believed in every song he sang. He took it deep in his soul and every emotion he ever felt came out immersed in the lyrics. You listening to to them felt his heartbreak, excitement, passion as your very own. So you feel connected on a spiritual level. YOU experience the emotion he conveyed. You can do that because he believed his song. A song is a Dream and all Elvis' dreams came true. How can you not love him for that? Elvis was fascinated by power but had so much respect for Authority. He has Blatant Sensuality, but could be a shy Momma's boy. These multiple aspects of his personality seemed to enhance his immage, account for the way his appeal bridge cultural, economic, generational gaps all over the world. Women could lust after him or want to mother him or be his little sister. He was macho enough for young studs to admire, but was devoutly religious & believed in family values. In a strange way Elvis had became everyman. There was always a part of him that struck a responsive cord in the listener - as if he had became a part of you, or you of him.

I'm glad people are appreciating the absolute talent Elvis surrounded himself with on stage. The band and vocalists needed to be on par, and able to keep up with Elvis' impulsive performances. No doubt Elvis would have needed to tone down the physicality of his act as he got older, if we hadn't lost him so soon, but he could keep an audience enthralled just with his voice. Such range, and absolutely divine vibrato. The host brought up one thing that I think surprised her, and that was the fun that Elvis had on stage. When he flashed his killer smile his whole face would light up. The man loved what he did, and the audience got caught up in that. We still get caught up in it, watching these films and videos decades later.
