Literally everyone had a beef with BTS rappers trying to discredit them because they became idols. But let's be honest, they buried their haters with both talent and success. They did have a beef with a rapper named B-Free who called them out on a live radio program for becoming idols calling them girls because of the stage make up and outfits and said they were no longer hip hop.laughed and made fun or them. RM and Suga just took it then responded with these. Later, after BTSs mega success B-Free came groveling back with an apology but when BTS didn't respond he acted like an asshole again. Honestly, they know their worth and talent. They even said their would be no more Cyphers after 4 because they no longer acknowledge the haters.

Actually they were beefing with a specific guy called Bfree (underground rapper who's career never went anywhere) the reference "go back to hawaii" in cypher pt 2 is a direct jab at him bc i believe he lived in Hawaii for a time. Supreme Boi was a trainee at Bighit with the boys from BTS so he was in consideration to be in the group for a while, but eventually became a part of the in-house producer team. he runs with some pretty foul people tho, so you won't see army talk about him a lot and not favourably (several guys in his tight-knit underground crew have been convicted of sexual assault, rape and other violent offenses)

Like what you guys were saying at the end of the video, what I love about BTS rapline is how different they are. They're all straight fire 🔥🔥🔥 but in different ways. For me, it's impossible to have a favorite! RM and Suga were both in the underground rap scene in Korea before joining BigHit (now Hybe Labels) but J-hope was a street dancer and he learned rap whole training to be in BTS. I'm sure you'll get plenty of comments about cypher part 2, but they definitely had beef with a rapper who disrespected them to their face on radio. They are amazing!! These are mostly my opinions so I could be wrong: I would like to mention that as you react to the cyphers you will notice that Jhope changes his style a little. That is because he didn’t have any experience with rapping before joining BTS so he was finding his own style and getting better throughout the Cyphers. In my opinion Suga was also getting better throughout the Cyphers. He already good, but in my opinion he started getting a little better throughout the years. Also on Cypher 2 we believe it to be for a rapper that disrespected Suga and RM for leaving underground to be in BTS. Telling them that they couldn’t resist the temptation of money, saying they were girls for wearing making up, and stuff in front of their faces. So in my opinion I believe Jhope kind of let Suga and RM do their thing because he wasn’t really apart of that conversation because he wasn’t an underground rappers. He was angry though because it is his brothers. This is my opinion though so it could be wrong. In my opinion I like Cypher 3-4 the best. Side note: in my opinion, you should look up dooslet translations as well for the Cyphers. For some of the lines it gives some explanations and Korean references. I love them all - I think RM kind of has the best technique and wordplay but Suga has so much passion in the delivery that I always gravitate toward him. The cyphers are a result of criticism. Suga/RM were rapping in the underground in South Korea before joining BTS. After they debuted in an idol group they got a lot of criticism for ‘betraying hip-hop’ from their peers. Because the rapline didn’t fit the expected physical attractiveness of kpop idols either, they got hate from fans of other idol groups too. There’s a difference between a kpop rapper and a rapper in South Korea. Most kpop rappers are just given lines and they just ‘talk fast.’ They don’t write their lines (it’s kind of a thing where if you can’t sing well in a kpop group they make you a ‘rapper’). So Suga, RM, and J-Hope were quite different bc they weren’t really kpop rappers - they write their lines and don’t just talk fast - they understand the beginning of hip-hop and where it came from - they understand rap as a craft and a skill, not just talking fast. They’re legitimate rappers who just happen to be in a kpop group, rather than kpop idols who can’t sing and are told they’re ‘rappers’ now but don’t know anything about what rap is or means. They were doing something very different from what’s normal or expected, and whenever you try something new you get hate :/

For what I remember, BTS (different members) love one piece, haikyuu, bnha and naruto, they did a funny karaoke where they sang one of the naruto intros, it was pretty iconic. I'm sure they watch other stuff and read manga, but that's what I remember they've mentioned in the past.

In the cypher series they are actually responding to their haters from the « underground rap » that looked down on then for becoming an idol group. Meaning even tho we are idols at this moment we can still outrap you and kill your career. Also j-hope became a rapper after joining BTS unlike suga and RM, he was actually a dancer.
