Rapid-Fire Skin Review: Inkshadow 

I'm surprised they didn't add belvelth to this skinline, I feel like she would be a perfect fit for it

5:13 God, that animation of Aurelion using his tail as an inkbrush is such a nice touch to an already rad skin. I'm a huge sucker for ink/paint aesthetics in general, and the ability effects of this skin line are super effective at getting that across!

I really think that Illaoi would be a perfect fit for this line, both with the entire tattoo esthetic, but also due to the interesting look her tentacles could have, as well as the ink trail and debris they would leave when slamming.

Honestly I just love the aesthetic of Inkshadow, definitely like it a lot more than previous MSI's Conqueror skins. The visual effects are amazing, they gave it to (mostly) good champions, Master YI's voiceover is great, just all around really nice. Plus Yasuo's onion hair being a paintbrush was funny enough to me for me to get the skin.

ok but this skinline has some of my favorite splash arts of recent years, especially Aurelion's

I feel like Sylas, illaoi, and Camille would have been nice additions to this skin line Sylas - could have had cool ink effects with his passive and let’s face it Sylas deserves better skins then the ones he has rn Illaoi - could have had her tentacles look like gooey blobs of ink smashing down on enemies as well as her e Camille - would have fit perfectly with the ink theme because of her legs, they could have acted as brushes/pens, could also make her w look like a broad stroke of ink

I really like the Aurelion Sol skin, but it feels more like a worldbreaker skin than anything else. Fine by me, I loved that skin line

I feel like ink-themed skins would look amazing if they included thick, black outlines and a "ink"-sketchy aesthetic in the same way the fright night skins had that pencil/pen sketchiness, but it's unfair of me to judge a skin line by what I'd imagined it would be.

I really like the thematic, it kinda feels like the vibe the Lunar Beast skins tried to go for but executed waaaay better imo. I'm definitely picking up Sol's he's my favorite of the bunch. Voli is a close second

I feel like Kai'sa is very out of place in this skinline, but that aside it's a solid concept. Nothing too flashy and I really like the Ink VFX!

I personally feel like they could go a little more 'in' on the INK aspect. like make the splash arts and colours more drawing-like and monochrome with a little colourful highlights, make the particle effects look more like ink splashes that won't be covered by these standard ass colourful ones that we got. i dunno I have pretty much the same vibe towards most of recent league skins - like they have a great idea, but it's like they're chickening out to go all in on the idea to make them really stand out and interesting

The mask issue with Yone is the same complaint with Renata. It’s such a cool deign feature but they always skip out on it.

It’s so weird that they couldn’t do more with the Udyr concept. Like the derpy old version got a god tier looking skin in spirit guard udyr but a decade later, we’ve still not topped it?

I feel like them giving Kai'Sa a skin in this line, they SHOULD add a skin for Kassadin in it as well, because the theme would work AMAZING WITH IT. Q = big ol' Splorp of ink, make the enemy champ look inky for the channel interupt, W = well. ink sword wrist thing, and make a good splash and drip ink while the move is active or even make it a futuristic tattoo needle or a "traditional" needle from some indigenous peoples history, E = Ink splash, R = An Inky portal warp with a color change based on how many times he's stacked the ability. And his LORE = He "disappeared" because he tried to harness the powers of the ink by instead stealing them, and sacrificing Kai'sa's life as a stand in for his own so he doesn't die to the curse, but it goes horribly wrong, putting him somewhere between the real world and the "ink-death/curse realm" making him the Bad dad in contrast of the Good dad he was designed to be. I think it would be an amazing legendary skin concept and really give Kass a truly good skin that isn't really old now.

Honestly I love this aesthetic so much Riot could milk it giving it to every single champion and I wouldn’t complain, I really hate they just grabbed the most popular champions ever for the first wave but I am looking forward to more cool stuff from this skinline (Ink shadow poppy riot please I beg I know it doesn’t make any sense but it would be so cool PLEASE)

Inkshadow and Empyren are some of the best new skin lines since spirit blossom honestly

I think that this is a cool concept that we saw bits of in some of the blood moon skins. I like the more diverse colors used here though

I cannot express how disappointed I am that Nilah didn't get a skin from this skin line. I think ink whips would be a really cool ascetic for her.

Honestly, I think Zed would have been perfect for this skinline. Imagine his shadows being made out of ink. Maybe in blue in contrast to his normal color scheme.

Personally, Inkshadow isntantly became one of my favourite Skin Lines in League, i just really love the Aesthetic and the animations on yi especially are soooo good.

To be frank. I almost immidiately forgot this skinline existed. I was randomly reminded when for some reason rito released a theme... I look at those splashes and barely can tell champions again even though I've seen them with titles before.

I think my favorite part about the Asol skin is that his mouth looks like, more ravenous, it looks like he’s been brutally devouring bodies where the blood is on the outer edge of the mouth, so it fits into the devouring portion of the bio well

Im such a sucker for tattoos you can do so much with character story telling with just the design of tattoos...so youd think Id be in love with this skin line. Unfortunately I am just not, I dont know if I can really place my finger on it, the champs for the moat part are good fits, aesthetically they are cohesive enough, and the lore is actually an interesting idea to build the rest of the theoretical universe off right? Honestly I think it comes down to pet peeves, the tattoos themselves dont tell me anything, sure theres meaning behind it but usually when someone gets tattooed with lines its usually a word or a rune or something that can be tranlated and I think that is currently lacking in these skins. Maybe they'll add a language or something added to the skins as a retcon but until then I think these skins are always gonna sit a little off for me.... They look fuckin badass tho.

The previous MSI thematic didn't look bad but it needed something more to keep up in quality.

While I didn't like Asol's Crown. This was an instant buy for me. The aesthetic reminds me so much of Okami, with the E looking like the final boss, Yami. Also, the ink brush tail. Its been 17 years since the game came out. Capcom please, I can't. PLEASE.

Everything about Inkshadow is awesome to me. Though I personally wish that Zed was in here. Sure the name is pretty obvious but the thematic of using tattoo based and give/get powers is already present in Zed's lore. The whole skinline feels like "let's take one champ's lore and paste it on five others." 9/10 I'm very biased for edgier things.

Not gonna lie: Mundo would've shined pretty well in this skinline now that you mention it, especially as one of the antagonists. The last serious mundo skin was in 2 BC.

Riot not being able to hide behind "visual clarity" anymore is a win

I would like Riot do more skins like this one of Volibear. Skins for animal champions changing the animal (Other exampels could be Warwick hyena). Imagine a skin for Rengar where he is a black panther or a tiger

Nillah would fit this skinline theme perfectly. You sacrifice something in order to get power. But yeah we had to give it to the champ who has 11 or 12 lost the count skins another missed opportunity in my book.

I feel like I would have swapped a few characters for ones that need more skin love, for example Viego would have been a great fit IMO(also the dude has 4 skins but half of them are legacy vaulted WTF?). Overall it's a nice looking skinline and I'm glad they are doing more unique themes now.

I envisioned "Inkshadow" as like, creatures made of ink and I kind of wish I had been correct, or at least that the spirits were made of ink. Then we could have had Inkshadow Zac as a blob of ink

I couldn't pick one, I wanted to try and get the skins from the orbvs but orbs SUCK so I got Asol. Honestly I love his particle effects, I don't mind the sounds too much, I love that they made his hair and tail look like brushes, at the end of the day a great skin line.

with a skinline themed arround inks and tattoos, i dont know why i kinda expected jhin to be there.

I think that its a good new take for an esports skin line, since it barely relates to esports if you didnt know it was one. Of course, there are my usual gripes. Yasou Skin. Kai'sa Skin. Yi Skin. about half the skin line is champs who have too many skins. Asol doesn't really do it for me, but I think base Asol is still cooler than any of his skins. Space Dragon. How do you top that? Udyr is pretty bland, not even really making good use of his own tattoos and ultimately looking pretty bland. Volibear also doesn't really do much for me, but I have to agree that his skins are pretty undesirable since they just do the thing that volibear already did but with 'zazz' or something I dont know. But turning him into a tiger doesn't really sit well with me, but thats probably just me. Yone is alright, but yone has fairly consistently gotten skins since his release (not lux consistently but often enough) and I think that there were a lot more characters that would have made better use of this skinline than 3 sword dudes and fucking KAISA AGAIN. Also the prestige looks like KDA Yasuo and I hate the KDA skins so so so much, so its very unappealing.

Personally think they all look great, except maybe udyr, i do feel like udyr's feels a little uninspired (many of his skins change his model with each stance), the rest though, very nice, kinda biased because the ink particle and sound effects just look so cool.

I started to play Yasuo because of his new skin. I absolutely adore it. Not just the prestige version (daddy.. sorry) but also the based version are so well-done and now I kinda enjoy playing him support :) (thats just a joke. or was it?)

these are good, I feel like a cutsy-er character would also fit in this universe.

this honestly is the one time i don't really like a new skinline most are very excited about... something for me either doesn't feel right, is missing or both on each of them and the fact i can't even tell what it is, is upsetting me more than seeing kaisa getting yet another skin

I've rarely been this dissapointed in a skin-line. Yes, the skins look good, but they could have done sooo much more with the concept. Where is the Calligraphy theme? Samurai are famous for their Calligraphy. Why are there no ink bottles, no pens, no brushes. For a skinline based around ink there is barely any of it present. We could have had Yorick with a giant brush, painting his Ghouls into existence. Nilah dancing in a whirlpool of black ink. Kayn fighting to not be overcome by the primal power in his Tattoos, Zed literally summoning Ink shadows. And if you really want to go for the tribal Tattoo aesthetic, where is Lee Sin, Olaf, Aatrox? I would have loved an Oni-inspired Olaf skin. For one of the most interesting skin-concepts in recent years, they did barely anything original with it.

I like them a lot but I wish there was more of its own continuity, the Master Yi skin looks like it got their powers from Volibear instead of Asol. But that’s just me.

The fact that volibear in his splash art makes him look like rengar's "guardian of the sands" really doesn't do well for me. The skin itself is alright, but it made me think it was suppose to be another rengar skin.

I have a tiny problem with asol skin. I think his crown reminds me of the Worldbreaker skinline and I'm not really a fan of it but his spell effects are so good.
