3 years since I last commented but still listening to the Verve on the daily, I've got a weird feeling they might get together again for some gigs in a couple of years Last time i said that they actually did, went on tour, Glastonbury and released a new album. We can dream.
This footage is now 30 years old and I still love the band. The first 3 albums are wonderful, but there is a special place in my heart for early Verve.
It is currently 2021 and I only have 15 albums on my iPhone that I've marked as "Top Albums". 3 of them are from The Verve: The Northern Soul, A Storm in Heaven, and Urban Hymns. So yeah, I think their music is timeless!
Julia H. Yeah they do... how come nobody really rocks long hair anymore? like in the 70s all bands looked great with long hair... young people grow stupid beards these days but look terrible....
I love it when bands as brilliant as The Verve put the town they're from on the map. A town the world never knew existed or if you live in the UK don't give a toss about. They turn their humdrum towns into Meccas. The fans visits being tantamount to a pilgrimage. Same goes for The Cure who put Crawley on the map. It's funny to think amongst the socially housed, inbred, anti-social, feral scallys of Wigan there are The Verve fans from all over the world seeking new or expanded meaning about their self, others, nature or a higher good through their experience leading to a personal transformation just by visiting the local chippie the lads commonly frequented, buying battered sausage, chips and mushy peas no doubt. 😁
I'm from California and I literally made a pilgrimage to Wigan for this exact reason. And yes, I remember visiting a pie shop to get a Poole's pastie where my local friend saw Richard go once, haha. You hit the nail on the head, my friend, it was an incredible experience.
Yeah... I spotted that from the clock above the tiled fireplace & the orange walls... The TV's got a picture of an American flag on it too, hasn't it....
Richard Ashcroft's flat - that he got kicked out of when he owed his landlord thousands in rent! The girl on The Verve EP photo was his ex girlfriend too - who left him when they were recording Northern Soul.
The little kid with the LA Raiders wooly hat/beanie... Remember people wearing the black & white LA Raider jackets back in the early nineties... They're now called the Oakland Raiders
Producer: “right so we’re doing this piece about a band & we’re gonna film them twatting about in Manchester. Where should we take ‘em?” Everyone (in unison): “THE FUCKIN ARNDALE CENTRE!”
@@MrDazw72 It's in good nick for a VHS recording mate, did you clean it up? Don't suppose you've got any from the chart show when they used to featured on that? Saturday mornings 11.00am lol, still remember.
yet his tongue has been firmly lodged up the gallagher brothers bottoms for 25 years + Fookin great band and greater music, never has a band name fit so n not so well. they were, are, and always will be the real deal. come on dickie u love mancs
Thay were around before and got known first but sayung that richards head got a bit stuck up his own head.. Thats why they fell out.. Ashcroft saying his heroes let him down selling out.. He done the same but its hard not too probably
I’ve been searching it for like 10 years. I’m not even sure which show it’s from, it’s possibly the John Peel radio version which just sounds mixed a little differently but it could be an entirely different performance
I hate it when bands try and write off their obvious influences in this case Jim Morison and The Doors. It’s not that the dude is trying to look just like him or anything.. posers the lot
@@DDubya82 Well, that clears that one up then, doesn't it ?.. What town is it in or, close to, please mate ?.. West Lancashire is quite a big area... I mean, I could just Google it, it would be quicker like.... 👍🏻🙏🏻👌🏻😎
