While some Metro Detroiters were excited to see the city reveal the new Detroit Gateway sign, others were disappointed, thinking it would have been bigger or more eye-catching.
These people some acting like they happy wit it LMAO but come on that sht on the bill for 180 mil and one mil was enough to do 8 of them you know what I mean you know where most the money allocated to all that went
They might as well said it gonna cost 180 MIL then just spend the 5k I'm surprised they weren't like that they getting more and more corrupt and in our face about it on the daily and I'm serious
The higher one of their own kids or the local school to help craft things. Are they pay some family member and they get referral kickback. Detroit has always been that way. Sometimes I think detroit rhymes with betray. 😅 Hip hop.
Cause then they wouldn't be able to steal as much they'd have to spend money on all that so they went vanilla so they can pocket 99 percent of all that
I can’t believe people are acting like it’s OK. The only time Detroit is putting money into its city is when there are eyes going to be watching the city. and then they don’t even do a good job trying to make the city look better.
A bolder font (thicker letters but not necessarily larger) and a brighter color would have made a huge difference. Its not bad but the designer could have done much better with his choice.
They need to just take it down already. A dollar tree sign yeah basically. Sans Serif temu lookin sign. if zero effort was a sign. This will do. Put it right there.
First they may see the huge Uniroyal tire if they're on I-94, its been a Detroit landmark for decades. ❤ Then to clinch it off they see the big Detroit sign. It's all good 👍
They need to work on removing it, not installing lights. Like I get it the city doesn’t have a lot of money, but at that rate don’t do it in the first place or get some corporation to sponsor it. The sign you get when sign company says times new Roman is too complicated.
When I first saw a video of this sign I held my reservation about it now that I’ve heard OTHER DETROIT'S weigh in many are having the same thoughts as me TOO SMALL rather puny I expected something on a MORE GRAND SCALE 😒 but it may look better at night when the lights are illuminating it .
Things like this just give citizens and even larger disconnect from their government. $400,000 is a life-changing monumental amount of money that most people in this area will never see in their savings account at one time. Citizens are riddled with issues such as bad traffic and public infrastructure; so when they see something like this get created it just destroys the hope that our government will put OUR money in the right place. I understand public art budgets have no correlation with infrastructure budgets. But most people don’t understand this; and at the end of the day, it is insulting when cars tires are getting blown up constantly via potholes and we cant even focus our finances on that.
Gmac Cash is awesome! He has so many hits. Potholes is a good one. Mosquitoes too! Mayor Duggan needs to make him the official rapper of Detroit and put him on the payroll. Looks pretty cool approaching it on the freeway.
They should have staggered the sign differently. If you drive in the way the video showed you see the T before the D, like you’re reading it right to left…
Hire artist to paint cool detroit inspired art on every freeway bridge. Have each bridge tell a story as you drive into the city, and as you drive out of the city.
For me, it's a mixed bag. I like the intent and I know we don't have big hills, but the sign could stand out more. That said, there's bigger issues to hash out than a sign.
First off, the locations they choose to place these signs is all wrong. If these are for visitors coming into the city from say the airport.... or even I-75 North, those are the two main locations that should have got signs. area where people are actually entering the city of Detroit.
