Sinéad had just lost her mother when she filmed the video so yes they were real tears . I was a child in Ireland 🇮🇪 when this song was released and she mesmerised us all . Sinéad was upcoming and I’d seen her video for Mandinka and it was cool but this was just beyond . Her name is pronounced Shinaide - Sinéad an Irish language name . Check out Thief of your heart , Troy , No Mans Woman , fire on Babylon , her Sean nós nua Album of old irish ☘️ songs is beautiful . Barróga mór as Éireann 🇮🇪 big hugs from Ireland. RIP Sinéad x
I think what she's saying is that now that her and her partner are no longer together she has all these freedoms, but without that partner, they are empty and meaningless to her. There's nothing she can fill the void with that can make up for having lost her person. going out, dating other people, picking a restaurant or movie without having to compromise.. all perks of being single, but she can't take any pleasure in these freedoms - they too have been rendered meaningless. I think the doctor bit is just a reiteration of this point - like telling someone dealing with depression to "just get over it" and enjoy life again.
this was the song that made her famous on MTV, back when they played music videos, but my favourite song by Sinéad is Mandinka. it gives me chills every time
She was a tortured soul, being abused by her mother. She took her anger out on the catholic church because of some bad priest behavior. Prince's song .
