This one was written and recorded in 1973 by B.W. Stevenson, a Dallas native. Stevenson had his career tragically cut short, dying from an infection after a heart valve surgery at age 38.
I don't think Brooks and Dunn made a bad song. You can just pull them up and start reacting and ever song will impress. They have serious love songs, working man songs, playful songs, life songs. Ronnie Dunn is one of the best vocalist ever
That being said, Kix Brooks can sing as well. Doesn't matter which one is at the mic, the song is still going to be the sort that aspiring country singers can only dream about. (And I'm not that big of a country fan.)
@@xScooterAZx Whether or not they wrote it, or were the first to release it, they did "make" this version of it. The original version has been well represented elsewhere in the comments.
Alabama would be so great. I'm In a Hurry and Don't Know Why, Roll On (Eighteen Wheeler), If You're Gonna Play in Texas (You Gotta Have a Fiddle in the Band), Song of the South, High Cotton, Angels Among Us
When Brooks & Dunn came out with their version, it had been about a decade since the original, and I kept thinking, "I know I've heard this song before, but when & by whom?" The original wasn't played much by then & I was little when it came out in early 70s, but that tune was still very familiar. I just recently learned that B. W. Stephenson also wrote "Shambala," which was later made a hit by Three Dog Night. I also just learned Stephenson was a Texan like myself. Small world. Both versions are wonderful.
You and your wife need to learn how to Texas two-step. This is the best song ever to dance to. Whenever he starts going up with that high voice, you are just spinning, spinning, spinning your wife. It’s awesome. You should try it, for sure!🔥🔥🔥
***80+ AWARDS*** As of 2024, country music duo Brooks & Dunn has won more than 80 awards, including: Academy of Country Music: 28 awards, including the record for most wins in the Vocal Duo of the Year category with 14 Country Music Association: 20 awards, including a record-setting 24 nominations for Vocal Duo of the Year Grammy Awards: 2 awards for Best Country Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocal American Music Awards: Favorite Country Band/Duo/Group in 2005 Cliffie Stone Icon Award: In 2019 There's today's history lesson kiddos.
That being said, make NO mistake, Kix Brooks can also sing. I'll keep the personal story to myself, but if you go to a concert, you'll hear them both. I'd love to see a reaction or two to some of the songs with Kix on the lead vocals.
As a clearly patriotic fella who loves your country you should listen to only in America by them. It’s another one of their great works. Their catalog is deep and worth the dive in.
Now you need to listen to this......Austin Brown & Tim Foust sing "My Maria" in the Backyard ... Austin and Tim are from Home Free. This is an amazing version!
Oklahomans have commanded the stage with amazing performances over the years including, Ronnie Dunn, Vince Gill, Toby Keith, Blake Shelton, Garth Brooks, Reba McEntire, Carrie Underwood, Joe Diffie, Woody Guthrie, Roy Clark, Gene Autry, Roger Miller, Bob Willis, and Kristen Chenoweth, just to name a few!
Brooks and Dunn dominated the country music scene for more than 20 years. They won 2 Grammys, Nineteen CMA awards and THIRTY ACM awards!!! They are still touring and are playing near me this summer.
Tim ~Foust~. It can be found on Austin Brown's channel. It's not a capella, but it's a fun version to check out, especially since Tim is a natural super bass and is singing high tenor while Austin, a high tenor, is singing the low tenor.
"My Maria" is a song co-written by B. W. Stevenson and Daniel Moore. - 1973, reached Number 1 in the pop charts, Brooks & Dunn won a Grammy for their cover. It was #1 in the Country Charts
I wonder have you heard of Martina McBride?? Another incredible powerhouse voice in country. Quite possibly the best, arguably. She has a few songs like Broken Wing, Independence Day, and I’m Gonna Love You Through It. I think you would absolutely freak out over her voice
Love this version, B.W. Stevensong was the original artist way back in '73 but Brooks and Dunn took it to another level. There's also another great cover by a couple of the fellas from Home Free (you reacted to their hit "Man of Constant Sorrow), singing in their back yard.
This was absolutely one of the most melodic songs I have ever heard. You were a blast to watch, so fun!!!!!!!!!!!! Ronnie Dunn's voice is amazing!!!!!! It was nothing bad as to why they split. They were just tired after so many years and both wanted to do some solo work. They did get back together at the urging of the record label and so they were back on. So nothing bad happened!!!!!!
I start my days with him...sometimes a cup of coffee ends up six hours because YT wants to show me more reactions...I should really be cleaning house by now at 11:21 am...I started this cup of coffee at 9am and have re-microwaved it twice. :)
Toby Keith "As Good As I Once Was" is great & shows his famous sense of humor. Please also do "Wayman's Song" that he wrote for his friend, basketball great & jazz artist, Wayman Tisdale. It's just so beautiful.
Unfortunately, "El Paso" is one heck of a depressing song. Marty Robbins does a fabulous job - you "feel" the lyrics. But man, oh man, there are no "My Maria" happy-dance vibes with that song...Whoa...
Hey hey hey you definitely need to watch the Toby Keith As good as I once was video! He was a great musician who recently just passed away! Such a fun video and great song!
If you want to here someone hold a note with amazing breath control. You have to check out Linda Ronstadt singing La Charredea and La Cigarra . Oh my gosh, it is unbelievable
There sooo man great songs by Brooks and Dunn. Lost and Found in a border town, rock my world (little counrty gir), Only in Americas, She's not the cheating kind, Play something country, Hillbilly Deluxe, Ain't nothing about you, etc etc.
Fellow co springsian (?) here, Brooks and Dunns Red Dirt Road is still one of my favorites too. And a few years ago they did a “reboot” of some of their hits. His version with Cody Johnson is worth a listen too
I loved being twirled around the dance floor doing the 2 step in my younger years… still wouldn’t mind going for a twirl today when I hear this song again.
Dude, you're gonna LOVE "Rock My World (Little Country Girl)". And you've just gotta check out "Honky Tonk Badonkadonk", by Trace Adkins. Lastly, you're gonna be blown away by "Ain't Goin' Down 'Til the Sin Comes Up" and "The Fever", by Garth Brooks. Both are serious uptempo bangers, that sound like Garth's straight-up rapping.
I'm just seeing this today.... it's my husband and my 25th Wedding Anniversary.. He always sings this to me when we hear it.. my full first name is Dana- Marie. He changes the words to songs.. get the jist❤❤❤❤❤❤
Yes, Toby Keith has so many great songs and videos! As Good As I Once Was is top tier!!! Also by Toby that you should check out: “How Do You Like Me Now”, “I Love This Bar”, “Red Solo Cup”, “I Wanna Talk About Me”, “Who’s Your Daddy”, “Beer for My Horses”
Love Brooks and Dunn!! They’re so good live too! My personal favorite after all of these bangers is Ain’t Nothing About You. Ronnie’s grit and growl when he sings is so good.
I love Brooks and Dunn. A couple members of Home Free did a cover of this. Tim Foust and Austin Brown did a fantastic job. Tim is the bass of the group but sings the high part in this. He has a 5 octave range. Really good song
I know what you mean about wanting to dance. This song just MAKES you wanna move, and sing along! Awesome song; great reaction. BTW - Good music knows no genre. Listen to what makes you feel something.
"You'd better hope my wife doesn't find it and be like 'Who's Maria...'" Like we all didn't just hear her say "I haven't heard this in a long time" in the background! 😂😂😂
Amazing singing try "When I Called Your Name", Vince Gill with Patty Loveless on harmony vocals. Magic! Need to do the studio version. There's not a live version with good audio or sound on You Tube.
Still waiting on Coward of the County by Kenny Rogers. Also you should really check out Watching You by Rodney Atkins. As a dad to young children you will love that song.
I love that Kix is riding that horse and doing amazing background vocals here..We all know Ronnie's amazing voice.. Don't ever forget ... It's Brooks and Dunn.. it's not just Ronnie Dunn.. Kix 's Brooks is great too
You make me laugh so hard! I love seeing you young guns discovering what some of us oldies have known for a long time -- BROOKS AND DUNN are one of the best duo's E V E R! I love how they use the drums and bass so heavily in their music. Good good dance music and their songs get stuck in your head. I've seen you react to them a few times.. YOU LIKE THEM!! LOL. Thanks for the reaction!
I just started checking your channel out. I love what you are doing. I'm a 66 year old recovering attorney and although my preferences in music have been country, blues, and rock and roll, I've always held an open mind towards other types. I've been playing catch-up on your reactions and I heard you mention while reacting to Stevie Ray Vaughan that when he and his guitar became one, you felt it was similar to when you start flowing with your lyrics. I liked that, and believe you are 100% correct. I'm not going to set here and tell you that I get all rap music, because I don't. But, in watching your videos with the same mindset you viewed SRV, I got it, and developed an appreciation for the composition, lyrics and style. Keep doing what you do, reactions and creating. You got a new fan. Oh, by the way, I enjoyed this video as well. I've seen Brooks and Dunn a few times over the years. Always great.
Best concert i ever went to was brooks and dunn..When I was 12 I was into green day,(and beastie boys) the album "dookie" just came out and I had no patience for country music, but we were at the state fair and my mom and sister wanted to go.. hands down the most fun concert I've been to
My band played this song almost every gig we did and I always felt bad for our keyboard player who had to sing it. Dont get me wrong, he Killed it but its So vocally challenging. And the back up vocals aint no joke either 😂. Anything we'd play from Brooks and Dunn would Always Kill!!! Great band!!
😂💃🎵 I LOVE this song and loved your reaction! Thanks, was having a blah day, this perked me right up! I can't help but dance to this tune! Was happy to see you dancing too! 💃🎵
