Our Dad lost his fight to cancer this summer and my daughter's about to go into her final year of secondary school next month. He fought a lot of demons and went through so much and yet was such a calm and constant presence when I was growing up even when I wasn't very lovable that he definitely influenced me in how I chose to raise mine and he was the zennest grandad ever. 💚It was my first birthday without him yesterday. Not gonna lie. Full on tears over here after that. I wish there was visiting hours too. :( x
This song hits hard in every Australian who knows who Michael Gudinski is, which is whom the song is written for. Ed wrote and then sung it at his memorial service in Melbourne in March this year. He mentored Ed during in his career.❤❤
This song is dedicated to Michael Gudinski, that was one of his music promoter but more important was a close and good friend of Ed... Kylie Minogue and James Burnes sang the backing vocals (they were Gudinski's friends too)... This song it's so touching, Ed ability to write simple things but so strong... It's so amazing 💜
My mom and I have shared a love of Ed Sheeran for a long time, now, and I had to text her to warn her about this song, cause she lost her mom last year, and it’s been really tough. I still haven’t been able to listen to it without crying, including your reaction 😬 I’m amazed how the lyrics speak with such specificity to such a universal experience.
There’s an official live version video of this song you should definitely check out. There’s a live choir doing the backing vocals and it’s in an old church with all the amazing acoustics those have.
Ed's vocals are impeccable here - would luv to see this performed in a harmonizing acapella with his good friend T Swift - also reminds me of a modern day country genre
Yeah, this one hurts a lot. My father-in-law passed to cancer around ten years ago, and it was only once he was gone that we started to notice odd things about my mother-in-law's behaviour, which progressively got worse as the years went by. After a long and laborious process of trying to persuade her to visit doctors -- which she steadfastly resisted for ages -- she was diagnosed with Alzheimers, and has been steadily deteriorating even more since then. With hindsight, we can see now that she was probably in the early stages of it while my father-in-law was still alive, and he just covered for her, hid it from everyone else and helped her through it as much as he could, even through his illness, as long as he was still physically able to. She's now reached the stage where she sometimes forgets he's gone, and rings us up in a panic because he's been 'out' for hours and hasn't come home yet. He was such a rock to the whole family, and yeah - if Heaven had visiting hours we'd probably be bothering him a lot. 😢
Please!!! Do Ed Sheeran, You Need Me, I Don't Need You recorded in the Live Room. Live room version gives you a look at his talent and was done all in one take, its a rap song he added on to since he was young. Ed performed in Jaime Foxx's club soon after coming to America, and ended up staying on Jaime's couch for a bit until getting settled. I think you would appreciate it!
"Photograph" made me cry when I first heard it, just like this one. Concept is different but the lyrics hit hard. Also, kinda getting the concept for future MVs for the album.
Mr. Third Ernest...I’m a veteran trying to figure out my way through some ptsd that I surprisingly didn’t get from the military...but from a broken family..my childhood. could you do Sean McConnell “if these walls could speak”? Please sir.
Nerd moment - but I could see AMV's of Naruto all over this track.... Sasuke / Itachi, Kakashi / His Dad, Naruto / His Dad (Even using Boruto footage). There's some heaviness to this track that could be nerded out in some anime's.
Nice video like always bro, it's amazing like always, Stray Kids dropped a song called Thunderous today if you'd like to check it out bro ! ⚡keep up the great work !!
