Agreed. A song doesn't have to be a banger to be a good song. I admit that I don't have any songs from Revival on my playlist because I am not crazy about the production. But the actual lyrics of the songs on it are fire as always with Em.

@Mark Hammond yeah but revival got characterized by the bad production song and that took away the attention needed on it at the time. I cannot believe that Eminem got trashed when he asked people if they still believe in him and asked them not to turn their backs on him. That must've been really sad...

Tbh, I vibe with a lot of the songs on Revival. Yeah, not the best in terms of production and flows (some were actually pretty good), but overall, it's a solid album, in terms of lyrics and his wordplay. He never fell off, it seems that Revival is an album that helped him developed the thoughts he had of his society between 2013 and 2017, which was between MMLP2 and Revival. And he put his thoughts in an album. Revival is also not my favourite Eminem album, but I still love listening to the songs on it and solid, and most of them are on my playlist. People need to understand that Eminem had stuff to say, but the production is all they care about? Wow.

Production quality just simply wasn't on point. Some songs were exceptions, but SO many had horrible beat choices and weird flows. Lyrically its a really solid album, beyond that, it had issues.

The reason is probably sonicly as in points of the song as a sound it sounds terrible where it hits thoughs notes to bend the rhyme scheme it sounded terrible but it happened lyrically thoughs were the most important parts

Eminem's songs are like missing Lego pieces in today's world. Hes got songs on parenting, dealing with relationships, depression etc. You may not like like it today, but some situation may arise which the song wold be a perfect fit for.

Perfectly put, man. Sometimes a song is just waiting for the perfect moment to resonate. Obviously these issues were just as big a problem when he released this song, but sometimes society isn't in the right frame of mind to listen. BLM is being taken much more seriously by more people and businesses now than when this song was released.

36:14 1. Some didnt like the many pop features 2. Some didnt like the rock beat 3. Some said they didnt like the production on the album 4. The racist whites & racist blacks didnt like untouchable; The racist blacks felt Em is white & shd not be talking about it, but if he doesnt they'll say he is a culture vulture, the racist whites didnt want to be made to feel guilty with what Em was saying & this was coming off the back of his BET cypher against trump, so a lot of them turned their backs on him. 5. Some stans didnt like that slim shady did not feature much on the album..... there was only 1 song of Em about cutting up bitches lolol..the song framed 6. Some didnt like that EM wasnt angry enough, they wanted the aggressive Eminem like the one on "the way I am" from his MMLP album from 2000 lol........................oh! the same people complained he was too angry on Kamikaze, they said he sounded bitter lololololol As for me i like the album.................every Em album cannot be 'The Marshall mathers LP'....Revival is a good album, i still listen to the album till today. My favourite songs on the album are ....Walk on water,..... believe, ......river.......untouchable......, the one with skylar grey, haha! i like some parts of.. heat ....not crazy about the rock beat but i understand it is a fun song,...............i like ...framed... and... offended,.... Arose.... &.... castle .....are too sad so i barely listen to them.

@@nishant2784 Please break down for me what and where the production was 'trash'. Because I've read that so often now and I don't know what they are talking about. What do they mean by that? The beat-choices? The samples? What exactly do they (in this case, you) mean by "the production"? Do you really think the people who produced the songs didn't know what they were doing? Do you think Skylar Grey doesn't know how to produce a song? Or Rick Rubin? - a-a-ah! RR might not be what you LIKE, but that's not a statement of his job-skills. So please give me real points as to where he failed. It's one thing to say "I don't like the way this sounded" - that is fine, that is personal opinion and you are very entitled to it. But saying something (a whole album at that) is 'trash' requires more insight into the workings of the music-production process and I would like to understand where they are coming from. So, since you apparently know so much about producing, enlighten me. Oh - and since there are multiple songs on that album,, it's fine if this will be a longer reply. Since you took so much time to reply to nearly everyone here how the production was so bad on the album.

They had a good intention of making it sound from a White's perspective but that doesn't change the fact that half the song is on trash production. Stop being a stan and you will understand. Or try listening to more hip hop artists other than Eminem. This is my opinion on untouchable. If you don't like it then disagree and move on. Don't waste your time.

Ever since Revival dropped, I knew this was a HUGE song, so deep and so true, unfortunately still to this day. I was so upset and shocked that no one paid attention to it back then the way they should have.. I loved your reaction and super wise words in the ending. Respect! On another note, I suggest you check out Believe, Walk on water and Bad husband off of Revival, promise you won't be disappointed :)

@@Othysss Agreed. To me there are two types of reactors. There are the ones who just listen to the song like your average person and react emotionally to what they are hearing. They are fun to watch. Then there are reactors who break down the bars and deconstruct the song for us like they are giving a class. They are educational to watch. The first type annoys me when they pretend to have never heard the song before. It just seems fake. The second type I couldn't care less if they had heard the song before because it allows them to do their job more effectively. Either Knox has heard these songs before or he just has a gifted ear. Either way, he usually catches things I have missed and I appreciate him pointing those things out.

29:50 I have to disagree with you here. "Pull yourself up by the bootstraps" is not the American dream. It is mocking the American dream, because it is PHYSICALLY IMPOSSIBLE to pull yourself up by your bootstraps. I think Eminem is smart enough to know this, and because even if the people he's talking about wanted to attempt this impossible feat, they don't have any fucking boots in the first place. So not only are they being told to do something that is impossible, they are being told to achieve the impossible with the aid of something they do not even have.

By the way I don’t know if you know this but like yourself Em has experienced racism against himself as well because (again like you) he used to live in primarily black neighbourhoods when he was young. Btw I love how the fact that you sometimes give us these concise history lessons (if needed) regarding a bar being said. I barely see any other reactors do that and I have got to commend you for that. Keep it up man you’re killing it!👊🏽 Oh and by the way, I don’t care that the video is 40 minutes. WOW! This is an incredible breakdown. I’ve watched you break down quite a few Em, Tom MacDonald, NF, etc… this one, I feel, takes it to a new level of social awareness and on your part knowledge. There’s just one thing I’ve heard a lot on RU-vid that ‘slavery doesn’t exist anymore.’ It does, they changed the name to trafficking but it didn’t change the condition… (bit of a throwback to George Carlin’s issues with language there, changing the name to hide the condition). Still, I have to say, while Em is second to none in his work, you’re awesome and definitely second to none in the breakdown of these bars. Bro, that was one of the most intellectual breakdown of this song I have seen. Your maturity on the issues really shines through, I can tell a lot about you from this one reaction alone. You may not know the struggle personally but you have empathy and an open mind of how and why things are. If more people came to the table with this attitude the divide between cultures would not be so wide. Racism is everywhere, and had been around for what seems like forever. Here in Australia, we to have over representation of people of colour in the prison system. Issues with black deaths in custody and even our own "I can't breathe" scenario. Couple of artists here got together, Briggs and Trials, to form A.B.Original. 'Always Black Original' but also play on words of Aboriginal as both men are indigenous. They released a self titled album 4-5 years ago and touch on a lot of topics faced by people of colour in Australia. From changing the date of Australia day, or Invasion day if your Aboriginal as this marks the start of the occupation by White man and the start of the genocide, slavery and mistreatment of first nations people here. To black deaths in custody and the disproportion of those in custody to start with. If your interested at all check out "2 black 2 strong" or "blaccout" either as a reaction or just as some casual listening. Im glad you and crypt had that "talk" about the cypher, or I may never have found your channel which I vibe with so well. Keep up the grind and much love and respect from downunder.

The funny thing about all the reactors and people doing the reviews on Revival songs is that Em called it. People just didn't want or wasn't able to understand what he was trying to say. Yes the beat selection could have been better, but I think the intent was that it was done on purpose so people could focus more on the messages of the album instead of just bobbing their heads to the beat. At the end of the day, even Walk on Water was an underrated song due to its self reflection. He was trying to explain how just because he was labeled the rap God, he is not calling himself God. He focused more on the words than the music. What he was hoping everyone else would do.
