This is a lullaby, a hymn normally our Mom makes every time she puts us to sleep. Remember our [1]MaPa normally just utter any sound tucking us in. Our Map is our [1]MaPa in this Life journey. Both used and present on this song. This is a masterpiece written by Pablo in collaboration with the rest of SB19. The release of the magical song was intended between the mother’s day and father’s day since the song is for them. This is a love letter to our parents. For some if not most, we barely tell our parents how we feel inside. This masterpiece will help us do another move to tell them how much we value and love them. In the song, “we will never get lost because we have the Mapa (Map)”. The map represent our parents. The things they taught us, the sacrifices, the advice they give and hardships. We will never get lost so long as we have the Map (Map). The Map that we can bring anywhere we go. The map that contains all the leanings and guidance our [1]MaPa gave us.

Honestly, this is why I'm always eager to see a rapper's reaction to SB19 songs - they almost always dissect the lyrics and get the message on their first watch/listen. Perhaps it's also because Pablo style of songwriting is from a rapper's POV?

"Mapa makes me think of map. Like we're outside trying to read a map. Hence, the wind." You were on point right from the start. 😆 You also caught "MaPa" from the title being the combination of Mama and Papa, but also is the filipino word for map. This was really satisfying to watch. 😆 Great reaction, Knox! It would be amazing if you could react to their other songs as well. More SB19 please! You won't be disappointed. Once you start following them it gets contagious. Most reactors set up a playlist. They can go hard, do Pop, Ballads and more. They even have solos that you'll need to explore. One comment though, they sing in both Tagalog, the Filipino language and English. Their lyrics are so inspiring so check for English subs. Most of their official MV'S have them. If they're auto generated just turn the subs off since they won't work. Hope to see more!

New to your channel! I'm pleasantly surprised that you immediately caught the wordplay! The third meaning of MAPA is "mata" (eyes, for Mama) and "paa" (feet, for Papa). As a rapper, you might be interested to know that SB19 are absolute beast rappers. The rap line (3 of the 5 members) have very distinct but equally topnotch rapping styles. Pablo has a lot of rasp and grit in his voice, is very quick, and can be an absolute animal when he gets carried away. Josh does melodic rapping with a lot of expression, sometimes a bit flirty, but he can definitely go hard too. Ken raps with a deep, dark, velvety voice. Their new song, Gento, showcases all these styles really well. But as you discovered, they're also great vocalists. They also write and produce/co-produce their songs, are great dancers who can choreograph their own dances, and are absolute monsters live. I hope you'll start exploring their discography because there's so much to discover! 3 of the 5 members have solo acts: Pablo's La Luna; Felip's Palayo, Bulan and Complex Album; Josh's Wild Tonight and Pakiusap Lang. J-Hope of BTS wrote a solo song "Mama" in 2016, thanking his mom for all her efforts to support him (Hey Mama, now you can lean on me) . In 2015 Jin of BTS released a cover of the song "Mom", also dedicated to the songwriter's mom. Suga of BTS wrote songs about his life that included his parents' tribulations (Amygdala). What I love about Mapa is the multiple play on the title and the poetry of the lyrics as well as the great vocals.

"MAPA" word play: mapa - in english MAP ( diagram of a place) Ma' Pa' - short terminology for "Mama & Papa" (Mother & Father) Our parents are like our guide or map through life.

There's an additional layer that most non-Tagalog speakers would miss. The Mother (Ma) is equated to eyes (Mata) to be the constant in an ever changing world when we try to make sense of it all, and the father (Pa) is equated to feet (Paa) to keep moving us forward when we're so bogged down we're crawling.

As an INTERNATIONAL fan I believe SB19 is Ppop …I don’t want to offend anyone either but KPOP fans are too TOXIC for me so I only listen to Independent artists from S. Korea and I experienced sadly 😢some racial discrimination in way too many comments. SB19 Multi-awarded group/artists. Most of their songs are self-produced, or directed by the members and choreograph and written by themselves. They made the hit song 'MAPA' and many more. They are the first Filipino and Southeast Asian act to be nominated in Billboard Music Awards for the Top Social Artist category. Bagged multiple awards from MYX, WISH and moreee. They are bunch of humorous, relatable peeps with humble beginning and is still filled with humility and pride in their roots. They are not called PPOP kings for nothing. Hope you get to listen to more of their songs like their recent release GENTO which is a double word play too for "gold" and "like this". I'm a Filipino but I don't listen to this song ever. This my first time listening to this song. This made me cry. Recently I lost my Grandfather, he was my father figure. He taught me everything I know about life. I told him before he die "ako na tay. Ako na ang bahala sa kanila. Wag ka na mag alala". He squeezed my hand and he died 2 days after that.
