He host events that include so many walks of life, we had 41 people here for a RU-vid event that included people from many races, religions, gender, and political views across the spectrum. He can have a core value and belief for himself and still be sympathetic or understanding to someone else’s. We don’t have to always take a hard line on every single issue. That’s how we get so divided. 6 years ago, I didn’t know if my neighbor was right or left or what their stance was on many issues, just new they were my neighbor, friendly and we got along and enjoyed talking occasionally. Now it feels like we have to carry a politics resume before we can decide if we like someone or not.

How do you figure? He’s done 5-6 political songs (not all in a row) and he continues to consistently hit the charts. Tom was gaining a lot of steam before ever releasing these tracks. They just put him over the top because the majority of Americans can relate to the current events as well as most of the topics that Tom writes about. It’s been amazing watching Tom MacDonald grow over the last 12 months!

I don't think it is necessarily the case that the numbers drop dramatically when he ventures away from politics anymore - it definitely was the case but in the last year he has had quite a few non-political songs that have done very well. Sober, Bad News, No Response, I hate hip hop, I don't care and Best Rapper Ever were all above, at or around 10m views and they weren't politically motivated. Bad News and No Response in particular are almost as high view count as his best political songs. His best performing songs like People so stupid, Whiteboy and Politically Incorrect were politically focused but it isn't like they are massively different. I would say that his political songs are still his best performing songs on average (Though he has had some busts) but he has enough of a loyal fan base to do well even with other songs by now.

Yea. I like Tom. I dont agree with EVERYTHING he says, but he is talented and has good points. BUT he used to call out both sides of the political spectrum. But he noticed that when he leaned right, he started getting noticed more. It's clear that some people are ONLY fans because of his political views. He's seems to be pandering for views. He wasn't like that in the beginning and its disappointing..

@@bobthedopeman7327 I think this is the issue, because there used to be a point where it was clear-cut and down the middle so you could remain impartial, but now it seems like a lot of what he says is to get people either on his side or against it and it leads to a lot of the comments and reactions being either people who strongly disagree with his very right-leaning statements or people who strongly agree with these views and become devoted fans. This then leads into one side being attacked for criticising what he has to say or the other being labelled for agreeing with some of what he has to say and the issue is this is where a lot of the toxicity and hate comes from. It used to be respect *all* people and their opinions including the ones stereotyped as cis white males, now it's like that's a shadow of his message when he starts do stuff like criticise people of different genders calling their pronouns retarded or going bluntly against gun control and anti-abortion in a way that just seems like it's meant to get people riled up with no significant reasons for the arguement And it just all seems like a ploy to play up to an algorithm of views and numbers
