As you know Queen did all kinds of genres of music, Brian could play anything, he and Freddie's voice were capable of going were no other bands could. Great reaction to a beautiful beautiful song.
It's amazing that you commented saying; "What if Brian May was that great that he mate a guitar sound like a synthesiser?" That is quite LITERALLY what he was known for. The band's first six albums had to have a disclaimer that stated that there were no synthesisers used on the albums. This was because Brian had built his own guitar called The Red Special and it had such a unique tone that no one had heard before, and so when Queen were all innovating the multitrack recording methods by adding multiple layers of vocal harmonies that built the classic Queen sound, Brian May did the same for his guitar and made it sound like a 50 guitar symphony. He was one of the first to do guitar lead harmonies that you'd find later in Iron Maiden and Metallica, except he did it all himself. People heard this and thought there were synthesisers being used but it was all guitar. As for this song, it was released on the band's last album before Freddie Mercury's death in 1991. That being said, this isn't as innovative as some of the band's earlier works, but what it does show is how masterful Brian May was at writing memorable solos. He never failed to provide fantastic solos that were all unique and classic. Even soft songs that might have not needed a solo were ultimately blessed to have this sudden guitar magic burst out of nowhere, for example in These Are The Days Of Our Lives. His solos are simply legendary. They combine the flavourful simplicity of David Gilmour with the rocking innovation of Jimmy Page and the technical virtuosity of Eddie Van Halen. And I'm not just saying this stuff out of my ass. In addition to the guitar harmonies, Brian also did the tapping technique before Eddie Van Halen, though of course not to the same level, it was still quite flavourful. Brian May perhaps has the greatest guitar tone in music and has the most consistent catalogue of solos of any guitarist. This is definitely a great start to the tournament and he definitely gets my vote, even though I consider some others to be greater, Brian needs some well deserved love.
@@Godspeed1756 getting up early sucks!! Getting my car serviced for some safety recalls. They said it would take 2 hours 😩 Glad you’re doing well! Enjoy your weekend 😊
Brighton Rock is a must , stone cold crazy ( regarded as the birth song of speed metal ) , ogre battle or dead on time next .. Brian May is a guitar genius and so underrated .
This masterpiece was released 1991. Freddie was coming to the park end of his short life. This song didn’t focus on the last days of Queen with Freddie but focuses on the magic that is love and it’s everlasting impressions on us
The Innuendo album was created during the period of 1987 to 1990 when Freddy Mercury was seriously ill. I don't think this track could have been created in the 1970s. My favorite band and yes I do think Brian May was the greatest guitarist. No doubt this, as with most of his guitar work, was done on his "Red" guitar, which he built himself, with his fathers help when he was a young boy. He makes some awesome music with that guitar. Freddy Mercury once said that Brian could create an entire orchestra with his guitar. Personally I didn't think "Bijou" was one of his best performances. The band spent this entire period in the studio, just to keep Freddy busy because his one desire was to keep creating music for as long as he could. While Innuendo turned out to be a good album, their earlier work, especially if you find a piece done in the 70s. They were dynamite on stage!
Brian May was not the best technical guitarist. He was not the best shredder. But no one touched the volume of amazing riffs, licks and solo's that Brian May produced. This song was on their second last album which was recorded in 89~90 and released in early '91 just before Freddie's death in November of that year. The sounds that the Red Special could create was second to none. Their final album Made in Heaven was released after Freddie's passing.
Brian May has the best lead guitar tone of all time period. It is full, round, smooth, has amazing sustain and harmonic overtones, and is the most recognizable tones of all time.
Brian built his own guitar, named the Red Special, with his father while he was still in college. He made it from and old fireplace someone was throwing out, an old oak table, and bits and pieces from his mother’s knitting box. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-IIVbUJnoduQ.html It has a completely unique sound and when coupled with the Deacy Amp (made by John Deacon, Queen’s bassist who had a degree in electrical engineering) Brian could make the most amazing sounds, he could even make sounds like a human voice. Check out Get Down Make Love, you’ll see what I mean. I think that while technically he might not be the best, my vote goes to David Gilmour, but Brian came up with some amazing riffs and you can always tell the beautiful sound of his Red Special. I think Bijou is amazing, as is the entire Innuendo album. Especially Freddie’s vocals, which defy belief they are from a man close to dying.
BIJOU means a small priceless ornament or gem.💎 The lyric in the middle was written by Freddie then Brian worked out the solo around Freddie’s vocals. In my opinion, I think it’s Freddie talking to Brian “spend the rest of our lives with each other .. The rest of our days like two lovers”. But then again Freddie could be referring to the Queen family, too! Brian was quite devastated when Freddie & his father both died around the same time period. Brian bought his mum a Budget Bird as a gift during the grieving. The bird was named BIJOU. 🎼💎🎼
In the early days of Queen they were wrongly accused of using synthesizer, but it was Brian's guitar. Queen started putting no synthesizer used on their albums. Later in their career is when they used it.
George Harrison wrote a song called While my Guitar Gently Weeps. I always think Brian’s guitar is weeping in this song. I vote for Brian because he is the only Astrophysicist who is also a rock star, and also because he built his own guitar. No other guitar players have those credentials
bijou is a french word meaning jewel. Means something is very important to you. It's like the guitar is crying. I don't know if it was for Jim or for the public… it was for Freddy like a goodbye because at this time, he knew he was ill. You have ti see the live version in Ukraine. Queen + Paul Rogers. Thank you for the reaction
Brian May is known as a great guitarist, but, to me, he's STILL underrated. The only other person I've ever seen who was able to make his guitar sing and cry like Brian is Gary Moore. And Gary is ALSO underrated. Just check out a LIVE version of "Still Got the Blues Over You".
Beautiful!!!♥️♥️ More Queen please. May I suggest Queen Brighton Rock, also used in the movie Baby Driver. Also great guitar work by Brian. Much bless to you guys.
On the contrary, they they purposely make music that doesn’t sound like something from a prior song. They always reinvented themselves . They did all Genres and some you never heard of.
Bohemian Rhapsody is 100% Progressive Rock! It's just a lot more popular than most Prog songs and is a bit heavier than most at the time. It really bridged the gap between the over complex noodly Prog of Yes, ELP, and Genesis, into the heavier arena-filling epics of Rush, Meat Loaf, and Kansas. Then Punk came along to ruin everything.
guys its actually BiJOU pronounced BEEJEW. What does Bijou mean in English? 1 : a small dainty usually ornamental piece of delicate workmanship : jewel. 2 : something delicate, elegant, or highly prized.
Well how Freddie wanted to do this song he wanted too make the song inside out so Brian an his guitar playing represents the vocals while the 4 short bars that Freddie did would act like a metaphoric guitar solo.
This is not the best representation of Brian May's talents EDIT - just because it is so quirky. One thing that makes him stand out is that you know it is him and his guitar the second you hear it.
I’ve got two you should check out. Orange Goblin with “Beginners Guide to Suicide”, and The Atomic Bitchwax with “Shitkicker”. Get back on that stoner rock since you did Kyuss.
Dear Trash Talkers, please react to at least one of these, they are all very interesting and progressive-as-hell bands (Opeth you already reacted to, but there's never enough Opeth:): Haken: 'The darkest light' or 'Pareidolia' Leprous: 'The Price' or 'The sky is red' Pain of Salvation: 'Reasons' or 'Panther' Opeth: 'The grand conjuration' or 'Porcelain heart' Rishloo: 'Diamond eyes' or ' The great rain beatle' thank you!
To be absolutely pompus, this series should be for the 2nd best guitarist of all time because the Number 1 spot goes to Jimi Hendrix. Or maybe call it The Best Guitarist Since Jimi Hendrix. haha keep on rockin in the free world boys! Devildriver - The Mountain Unearth - Endless
Only issue I have is that you picked a song from early 90s to represent Brian May, who's supposed to represent 70s. Brighton Rock would have been a better representation. Other than the guitar work, it seems more like a ballad. Great guitar work nonetheless.
