An old trick i would do when I couldn’t get oil to flow on a raptor was to blow on each oil line in the engine. Or go up to the oil return pipe on the top of the oil tank and blow on it and see if the air can flow. Also there is a seal in the clutch cover, and If it doesn’t seal properly it’ll have enough pressure to pump it up to the filter but not all the way up. Id pop the cover off and check it out. Other than that you know it runs so you are 95% done, even if the oil screen inside the engine is dirty, it should still scavenge and pump throughout, its a dual pump system so maybe the scavenger side of the pump is not functioning properly. Its only a guess but it could also be the stator cover, both covers have oil seals that like to crap out. Best of luck!
I will have to try it out. Really dont want to have to it back apart if I dont have to. It pumped before I tore it apart. Im thinking when I made the rookie mistake and used black permatex cause I didnt want to wait for shipping on a new seal but wound up getting a gasket set anyways. Now I learned the hard way and wont ever do that again. Haha
Also on the fourms they explain in detail how to clean that screen inside the engine, I believe you just need a piece of wire and you gently scrap the gunk and pull it out, its time consuming but it beats splitting the cases
No need to even have it running and chancing engine damage. Just pull the top cam cover and pour a small amount of oil into the top side for some lube. Disconnect the ignition coil from spark plug so no start. Crack the return line from motor while cranking. Then crack it at the top of the tank then just leave the oil cap off and crank a few seconds. If not then it's simply just u got shit blocking a line or oil port or the oil pump is ceased. Probably ceased pump
Very carefully pressurize the oil tank with compressed air not exceeding more than 3 lbs of air pressure in the tank make sure it has oil in it loosen the bango screw in the cam plug and crank the engine it should build oil psi fairly quick
Yes, we got it all figured out. The oil pump was seized up. Had to clean the whole oil system and the pickup screen. Has good oil flow now. Now we have other issues of pressure in the coolant system. my belief is the cheap cylinder I was sent is cracked somewhere causing combustion gas to get into the coolant system.
Tank had no oil in it. It's been a while since I messed with it. There is a screw in the top end that you can back out and it should seep oil. If not then there is an oil flow issue
Cant say that I would recommend doing that but to each their own. With the amount of stuff I cleaned off the screens I am glad they were there. If any of that debris got any further into the motor it would have been bad.
Did u ever figure it out? I just did a rebuilt "swap" bottom end to everything else and went to start it and no oil and the oil tank still had the 2 qrts I added.
Yes. There were a few problems actually. The major of them all is the oil pump locked up. But the reason was because of debris in the motor. I did another video on how I fixed it. The screen in the oil tank was plugged and the screen on the sump was plugged. Once I cleaned those and replaced the oil pump I had oil flow again.
