omg...I seem to think im a great backyard mechanic and I just got schooled by a teenager...watched this video and my parkbrake was cracked...I zip tied it together and my raptor now rips...thx lil man...you just upped a 45 yr old...keep the vids comin...im gonna subscribe...
hey bro, thanks for the video... i just put new bars, and lots of front end parts and took that piece off, well getting it all back together it would not rev... took off carbs, and read the manual. Nothing, pushed that button in on the parking brake and works fine.... life saver man thanks!!!!
I honestly don't give a ratsass if you call it a bike. My group has guys and girls that ride both two and four wheels. Oregon sand, Nevada sand, and Oregon mud/dirt. We ride seriously. We pretty much call all of em 'bikes'. "bike" = "ride" in our camp. I owe you a BUNCH, suzukiman. My limiter cable has been broken off by the previous owner so it wouldn't do this. but we were recently riding in a storm and got some junk in the end of the cable. Blew some air in it, cleaned it out, and BINGO. Works perfectly. Saved me a whole afternoon fighting with the carbs.
to everyone that didnt know what the problem was another way to fix it is to cut the wire by the connecter an add a wire from the battery to the connecter it will stop your revers light from coming on an wont bog out on you when your riding its a green an white wire that is attached to a white connecter i watched this video it works for so long then you most repeat it everytime it happens if you follow the way i said to do it u will not have a problem with your quad ever again
Well my favorite bike did not run this weekend. Spoiled my weekend would not stop spitting. Did a complete tuneup, nothing. I just about gave up. Anyway had three other quads for the weekend. Came home started to look at youtube videos tried like four other ones and nothing. Saw your video went loosened bolt pushed the piece you mentioned up and tightened bolt down and guess what? Fu#$%^ quad started up and was purring like a kitten (champ). Your a genius. How old are you? Outstanding video!!!!!
I had same issue with my 660 haha but I changed my whole lever out on left side. Disconnected the cord completely.. and it runs better than ever.. on top of that. I have racing components inside my motor, and just changed them in and it was running shit, so then checked online saw this and got an idea went and checked and it worked thnx
Highly suggest not taking off the rev limiter cable. I took mine off and got into 4th gear and blew my engine. That cable is super important. People say Take it off it'll run perfect... nah def not
Maybe now i wont have to take the carbs off mine tommorrow. I hope that works for it man. I really dont feel like pulling the carbs off lol only if i have to. It starts up within the first turn over, like it always has, idles perfect doesnt miss or anything, as soon as you move the choke or the throttle, it starts making that god awefull popping like you were talking about like its mot getting enough fuel. Fuck i really hope it works. Thanks bro
Yeah sooo. I have a Raptor 660 myself, and the thing is really weird. The thing is a pain in the ass to start. But when I eventually get it to start, I let it idle for a minute or two. It idles perfectly and everything. I start riding it and I am only able to give it half throttle without any problems. But when I go over half throttle it instantly falls on its face, it sputters, and it backfires. I was just riding it and everytime I rev it the reverse light comes on and when it goes back to idle, then the reverse light comes off and the thing jumps to a lower RPM. Like.... how do I fix this?
660's were not built for raceing, hence the parking brake, the reverse, the high center of gravity. They were built for riders that want a sport quad with reverse, for trail riders and the like, the stock suspention is ok, but not even close to the 450 quads. Sure you can set it up for racing but yould be better off on a stock 450r of any brand!!
thanks bud im gonna give that a try i bypassed the rev sensor so i thought it fried the sensor but im gonna try that parking brake trick first before i dub with the sensor or the cdi box
this happend to me, except i was on the trails with no tools. i cut the wires off and figures out that if they dont touch it wont have a rev limit and if they do touch, it will have the limit
I have a 2006 raptor 350, starts and runs fine for a short period, then bogs, idles, but i go to give throttle and it bogs or stalls out, any ideas other than the parking brake? I just torn it all apart, cleaned carb, checked wiring, and new battery, i need help i jus invested alot of money on this machine
Urgh I don't have a parking brake on mine. Mine is doing the perfect idle and dies out when revved. I literally cleaned the carb out and it was working perfect until I removed the airbox and reinstalled it. But the airbox is completely installed perfectly again. But now it won't stay on when giving throttle.
hey dude my bike is doing the same but i dnt have my lil nub anymore and it runs fine or ran fine,,,now it dose it agin,,, if i turn off the tank and let it run it will still back fire untill the fuel goes down then it will rev fine agin any ideas ???
My raptor runs and starts fine but when I'm going up a hill and I give it a quarter throttle it kinda floods out almost and then it will randomly clear up and go like a bat out of hell... Anyone else have this problem?
