Fun Fact: This clock uses a modified movement by the German brand of Petersen! The Fontenay Fontenoy clock company only added a second chime option, and an exposed flywheel to the movement
Very beautiful case and chimes! I know some French clock plays Westminster and strikes bim-bam on the hour! That’s like combining my Urgos Westminster chimes German box regulator and Gustav Becker’s Trio-gong together!
The clock sounds great :D I'm happy that you could restore it and that it didn't have any serious problems ( the fast chiming meaning a major issue). The hour strike is really nice as well. I didn't know this clock uses a modified movement :0 I've also never heard of the Petersen clock company before, so I'll do some research later. Another wonderful addition to your collection :)
Thank you so much! I took a big risk with this clock, but since all I had to do was tighten the loose flywheel and adjust the hammers it paid off! There's very little known about the Fontenay Fontenoy clock company, but what was known was that they were founded by a business executive who arranged a deal about Petersen sending complete movements just to be modified and sold off to France
It's a pretty hard one to find! There's not much known about the Fontenay Fontenoy company, except for their use of modified movements by the German maker of Petersen. I was lucky to find this for sale in my home country of Germany!
Hi Linus Have you seen an annular calendar clock electric and day, date and month move sideways? A young German chap on RU-vid has or had one. I think they're pretty rare. I'd love one
Hi, yeah, I've heard of such! If I remember correctly these were made by "Bürk", but I'm not sure. My friend Phalos Southpaw used to have one, but I have no idea what happened to it. I did see one like it online, but it flew right under my radar. Good luck on your search!
