The clock sounds great :D I'm happy that you could restore it and that it didn't have any serious problems ( the fast chiming meaning a major issue). The hour strike is really nice as well. I didn't know this clock uses a modified movement :0 I've also never heard of the Petersen clock company before, so I'll do some research later. Another wonderful addition to your collection :)
Thank you so much! I took a big risk with this clock, but since all I had to do was tighten the loose flywheel and adjust the hammers it paid off! There's very little known about the Fontenay Fontenoy clock company, but what was known was that they were founded by a business executive who arranged a deal about Petersen sending complete movements just to be modified and sold off to France
Fun Fact: This clock uses a modified movement by the German brand of Petersen! The Fontenay Fontenoy clock company only added a second chime option, and an exposed flywheel to the movement
Very beautiful case and chimes! I know some French clock plays Westminster and strikes bim-bam on the hour! That’s like combining my Urgos Westminster chimes German box regulator and Gustav Becker’s Trio-gong together!
@@toothlesstoe Oh wow!! If I had to guess I'd say maybe 4k? Most of my clocks were really cheap, but since I have had over 200 it seems like a reasonable guess lol
@linsclockandmusicchannel Nice! I only own 8 (the grand sonnerie I bought recently broke during shipment, so it's in the repair shop currently and I'll have to wait a year to have it back); my dad owns 7 (they're all within the same house), but I prefer the more elaborate, ornate, and unique designs, hence the price.
@@toothlesstoe That's nice! I actually own 2 Lenzkirch Vienna regulators similar to yours (same gong block). One of them was a cherished family heirloom that once belonged to a cholera doctor who saved an entire village by eliminating the crisis. I typically don't spend much on a single clock since I am a student working a minimum wage job! My most expensive clock was a Viennese portal clock (Grand Sonnerie, restored) I paid $300 for which was definitely a steal. It's my fanciest clock to date!
Thanks so much! I'm really glad you think so, there's a ton of great clocks for me to cover for the future. My Westminster/Fontenoy clock arrived yesterday and I'm in the process of getting a HAC Trinity and a Gustav Becker whittington chime box clock. Stay tuned!
@@linsclockandmusicchannel That’s awesome!! Been on the hunt for a GB Whittington chime clock for years now but they almost never come up for sale. Glad you were able to find one!
@@Brooks_Adams Many many thanks! A guy I know from the other end of Germany has had it for a long time, and in a few months time (once I'll be working again to get the money) it's gonna be mine! He has a RU-vid short of it out there somewhere. If you type in "Gustav Becker Westminster Whittington" and look for the shorts pop-up you'll find it! It's a short but wider box clock with the same dial as my GB Trio Gong
