RARE 1949 ALLIS CHALMERS G TRACTOR RESCUE 

Back in the day my Grandfather was one of the very first guys in his little town to get a G. As he was driving it home, his neighbors would slow down and yell, "Ray, go see if you can get your horses back!" Two years later there were a couple dozen G's on his neighbors' fields. Nice find. G's are cool.

That is neat!!! The 'G Tractor' was made in my hometown of Gadsden, Alabama. In fact, many of the now departed gentlemen I knew as a child built them! You got you a nice little treasure there.... :)

Please, please, please take us step by step throughout the restoration! How awesome to see that old girl in such capable hands and saved from the scrapyard. Love your videos.

Please make the restoration video as long as possible! My brother and I just rebuilt an antique 1996 craftsman riding mower! Ok, it's not antique but it was fun. She's running great and going into service on my yard in a couple days.

The engine is a Continental N62. I've rebuilt one 30 years ago. Parts are still available but getting harder to find. Good luck with it!

You get a picture from him of his Dad and the tractor to display with some history about the tractor after the restore project. Would be a cool added feature for history purposes.

Wow! What a peach, I'm jealous that you are getting to work on something like that. Old agri machinery is built to last and always interesting to work on. That old Allis looks as though it was loved and cherished, the same age as me and maybe in better condition.

It was great to hear from the man you received the tractor from describe his hardworking father's use of it, kinda got something in my eye right then. My neighbor has 2 of these. Ones an electric conversion. He uses them on his organic vegetable farm. They are neat tractors. They seam to work well.

I love to see old tractors getting restored. My Dad has beeen doing it for a long time. He tends to go after Allis-Chalmers mostly but has gotten into more unusual tractors later in life like David Browns and Cockshutts. Interesting fact; David Brown used to own Aston Martin a long time ago and that is where the DB in the most popular Astons comes from.

I was born in in Gadsden, AL in 1953 while my Dad worked at the Allis Chalmers plant there where this was manufactured. Sweet little truck farm tractor. The last they made it was 1955.

I have four of the G's. One has a three digit number. They were all built in Gadsden Al.

Well done for saving that... Thing is.. Nowadays very few actually care about the older stuff... If it isn't the latest thing, flashing lights and bling then they don't want to know... And when you think that it was someone's pride & joy for years before it was retired...

They only have 10 hp continental engine

Glad they got it going but I don't feel that this would be considered much of a rescue. Most of the tractors that are still being used by farmers don't look as good as this tractor. A rescue is where the tires and rims are rotted off and the engine is locked up. I'm speaking from experience. One of the two I have was in this condition when I obtained it back in the 1990s. It had been purchased by my grandfather in 1949 so I was willing to put some time and money into it.

there not that rare maybe more in the uncommon range. drove a few of them and see them around. might be more up here since it was big farm land area

A friend of mine. Collects them . Has one of every year made and most of the implements for them . Not that rare .
