Rare Archaeopteryx Glider Electric Self-Launch Takeoff and Landing 

One of the members of our club has the only Rupert Archaeopteryx Glider in Canada. Only two-dozen of the Archaeopteryx Electro model have been delivered.
The takeoff roll is incredibly short, but because this glider has no spoilers, landing with flaps does take some distance to accomplish. So, short field takeoff, but needs a regular field to land.
This is considered a micro-lift glider, and it really can climb in weak thermals that regular gliders can't. I'd taken a passenger up in the club's Grob 103, and the best I could do is only sink at 0.5kts, but this Archaeopteryx was able to stay out a few hours.
The downside is that the Archaeopteryx is not terribly fast, so it's not going to accomplish long cross-country distances, but in the weak conditions of Eastern Ontario, it's going to have more workable soaring days.
