I know people are mad that she released makeup because it seems like everyone is doing it but i can tell that she actually put love into this line and it isn’t a cash grab, especially with the mental health mission. In 2013, she mentioned wanting to do a makeup line so it’s not like it came out of nowhere. She had health problems at the time so now that she’s better, she decided to pursue it. The price point is also really good, everything is under $30 so the products are cheaper than a lot of the things at Sephora and I love that she didn’t use the fact that they are donating a percent of the proceeds an excuse to overprice everything. A lot of celebrity lines are really expensive but she kept accessibility in mind, especially with the fact that she made the packaging arthritis friendly by having the cap be sphere shaped because you can open it with your palms instead of your fingers. She also made it vegan and cruelty free which I think is great.
Kathy Coleman but it’s not like fenty beauty did anything revolutionary or created new makeup. Rihanna did make sure she had shades for everyone which was a really huge thing for a new makeup brand but she didn’t create any new types of products. I have plenty of fenty products but I bought some of Selena’s today because of the price point.

I have to try this! I love how she designed the packaging to make the products easier to open, accommodating people with limited dexterity. I have to use my feet to put on makeup because my arms are disabled. So I really appreciate the inclusivity here!
I feel you! I have Lupus too like her. Tho mine attacks all internally, hers is more focused on the kidney. One of our struggles is arthritis as the immune system attack our joints so much. There would be days I couldn't walk or everything felt like swollen and couldn't move or painful (which is everyday). Lupus is an autoimmune disease. In layman's term, our immune system is sooooooo active that instead of just fighting illnesses or viruses and bacterias, it also attacks healthy cells and our organs. I just had an operation last month as it attacked my GI. I am in pain every damn day, so having this is so thoughtful. This may be weird looking to others but it will help us a lot. Something that will help us and make us feel beautiful is a plus!

Selena got so much hate for this for NO REASON. She came out with a makeup line because she can. Why try and stop her? Many made the comment of her not wearing a lot of makeup to begin with but I think that's the entire point. She's encouraging women and men to love the skin they're in and rock their flawless lightweight looks when they want. Personally, this is right up my alley. We have to remember... just because some of us like natural looks doesn't mean we don't get to love makeup just as much as the next person! Thank you for your honest review!! Laura Molina I didn't know that! How cool! Having lupus definitely made Selena more aware of all other chronic health issues and chronic pain and I love that about her. She's not in her bubble. She recognizes other struggles
Everytime someone complains about foundation with a doe foot applicator being unsanitary I think, "Then you better get rid of every concealer you own!" Thank you for pointing that out!
Some facts about Rare Beauty ❣️: - the packaging of the foundation/concealer has a ball on the top to help people with arthritis (since Selena struggles with that bc of Lupus) - the packaging is eco-friendly - the brand is vegan and cruelty free - the brand goal is to donate 100 MILLION dollars to mental illness foundations in the next 10 years (got this from a comment on another video)
All true, and so important. This is NOT a cash grab ethier, she's planned this for years, and put so much thought into it. Donating 100million, clearly shuts that theory down. This is not to fatten her wallet, she doesn't need that. This is personal to her, for the light it sheds on mental health, and doing what she can to help with accessibility to those in need. 👏
I don't think I've ever seen any other makeup brands come out with packaging that is specifically meant to be disability friendly! Just makes me feel so SEEN. & makes me wanna cry - but like, happy tears.

Because there's nothing new in creating a makeup brand, sorry. I've seen positive stuff about it, like it's vegan, non comedogenic and affordable and that's a nice consideration towards customers, but I also think it's a lot about publicity and social media which is giving a huge hype and popularity. I hope it's a good one. But creating another makeup brand to increase consumption (more of the things we don't need) isn't new, it's not hate towards her, like you don't even know her, it's just a critic eye on the impact of these things.

Kathleen is a true selenator. I will ALWAYS remember Kathleen supporting Selena for YEARS, I remember when she bought tickets for the Revival Tour and why she had to cancel :( the song from Selena’s album, “Revival” is so personal Kathleen I remember that as well. Laaaawd thank you for the foundation applicator comment! I get annoyed when people complain about how “unhygienic” applicators like that on foundation are....but they don’t realize it’s the same as concealer, mascara, and lipstick
She is so real. And iconic line says: “omg! that foundation applicator is not hygienic, u rub it on ur face and u put it back!” and she says: “gurl. i do that everyday with my concealer”. It’s AMAZING!

the blushes actually have different finishes based on the color. two are matte and two are dewy. i think you mixed one matte and one dewy. the actual matte ones are not shiney .

People bitching about the doe foot applicator in the foundation - i bet you have used your concealer' doe foot on your face 😒 also I'm sure you have put your concealer's doe foot on your breakouts and then back on your skin or undereye - that's gross and not hygienic. People with arthritis really appreciate not having to use a pump which is hard to press due to reduced mobility and then put the liquid foundation with their fingers on their face.
Oh my god, I just saw Selena Gomez makeup tutorial using her new Rare products and I was like let me see if Kathleen has made a video. I couldn’t find one but Low and behold Kathleen has read my mind!! I love you Kathleen 💕😊
But actually all the other reviews were much better than this one. She could‘ve done just a liitle more reserach (I mean not knowing why the 4 in 1 setting spray is named 4 in 1?!) and not mentioning that there are 2 different blush formulas... Looks like she was in a rush but anyways I like her chanel. Oh and that lipliner is anoying...for a Beauty chanel she could use some different products....that is why I am watching beauty reviews.

Kathleen I love you so much but Can I suggest something? Please don’t fill the entire lip with lip liner because the essence of the first impression is completely gone. I couldn’t see anything about the pigmentation and if it does dry out or not. 🥺
The whole collection was made with people with arthritis in mind. So i think it makes sense that the sponge is so soft because it is easier to wring out than a super dense one when your hands are really in pain and sensitive.
Two things. 1) Can you not mix the foundations or blushes? I don’t have the money to buy multiple shades. It’s hard to see the true color when you mix 2 shades. It seems wasteful for me to buy multiples because I’d never go through that much makeup. 2) Can you not line your lips before applying the lip products? It’s hard to see the true color when you line your lips with a lip pencil. Or line them with a nude liner. Thanks!!❤️
I just came from Selena's "perfect cat eye" video where she was talking about this line. I have to say, I am so beyond impressed, not just with the charity thing (which is extremely awesome), but for the arthritis friendly packaging. I have fibro/RA (in the process of making sure I don't have MS) and my hands are one of my biggest, and most frustrating issues. Some days, they just don't work. I will endlessly appreciate someone taking the time to consider hand weakness when designing packaging.
In my opinion, people who don’t like rare beauty don’t understand rare beauty. The Whole message of being rare is that you, yourself, are rare. It’s about enhancing natural beauty not covering it up. That’s why people who apply a lot don’t usually like it, because you’re not meant to. You’re meant to add tiny amounts to enhance your natural beauty. It really is such a cool concept for a brand. Not to mention the work she did with making it accessible to everyone with the packaging, making it cruelty free, and donating 100 million to charity. There is a reason Selena is so popular. Not just just as a celebrity, but as a person. It’s because of how thoughtful she is, and how much effort she puts into everything she does. She really did an outstanding job. The message is beautiful, the makeup is beautiful, overall an amazing line.
I feel like her brand got so much undeserved hate when it was first announced and I’m so happy to see all these positive reviews of people loving it! Especially with the amazing advocating of mental health behind this brand ❤️ I personally can not wait to purchase the foundation and cream blush for myself!
I wish you hadn't mixed the blushes and highlighters! I totally understand your thinking, but I think most people would only be buying one or the other of them and I would have liked to see swatches of how the colors look individually! Great video though! Lots of love.
The balls are people who have arthritis and need extra help opening thing and the products are pigmented af so they don’t have trouble putting pressure on the product
okay typically I never comment on these kind of videos but I've been watching a lot of reviews about that collection and the liquid lipsticks are actually VERY pigmented, just something maybe some people would like to know 🤷🏻♀️
Kathleen can you please bring back disappointing products of each month??? I love monthly favorites but it’s also nice to know what you wouldn’t recommend.. there’s so many make up products and knowing not everything is good and/or not worth the cash would be very beneficial!

Kathleen usually uses lip liner, so it makes sense that she would also test these with liner for a fair comparison to other products in the past. I understand not everyone wears liner, but this is her routine so it makes sense. There are a plethora of other reviewers who haven't used liner if that's what you want specifically :)
Tas Rahman it actually doesn’t make sense. Using lip liner like that takes away pigment and changed how it looks. This is a makeup review. Defeats the purpose
I do love Selena I have lupus and the fact she is still doing her thing is amazing I’m so sick all the time and she has problems with lupus so it’s inspirational for me I have heard nothing but good things about the foundation’s. This is the seventh Rare Beauty review that i saw till now and all of them were positive Selena really succeeded People dragged her and bullied her for launching a makeup brand, but look at her now
I feel so much respect for selena rn. I was never a huge fan of her. Like, I just never followed her or listened to her songs but her initiative of helping those with mental health is so refreshing to see. I had to look again to actually CONFIRM that the products were below $20, which is SO rare these days with ANY makeup brand. Love it!
Just FYI her packaging has the spheres on top of it for people with arthritis (like her) where it’s easier for people with disabilities to open using their palm instead of fingers due to arthritis or hand tremors. This was important to her since she suffers from Lupus and complications from that. I’m just so in awe of Selena. So proud!
I'm so happy this came out so well!! Selena is one of my favorites and the fact that her brand came out so well it exciting. I was hesitant in watching this in worry it wouldn't turn out well, like previous celebrity brands have, but I'm glad I did. this whole brand gives me Em Cosmetics vibe. They're both aiming for natural dewy kinda look. I would love to try the blushes. Not too sold on the others.
i really like your reviews, but next time perhaps try reviewing it with us "normal" viewers in mind? most people will not purchase multiples of an item and mix them to suit them. i get why you did it, you had all the shades, but who can afford to buy two blushes, two highlighters, 3 lip products and a "mixer" concealer to get one look? in order for your viewers to get a proper impression of the quality of these products, it would be helpful to actually assess the shades they come in.

Well it's a review of the products not a makeup look.... what's important for the video is how the products apply and wear, their formula. Colors are the cherry on top🤷♀️🤷♀️
Fun fact! Selena Gomez specifically made her products with that ball on top so people like her with lupus and arthritis could easily open everything. The entire line is vegan and cruelty free as well! Major win here. Also, products have preservatives in them that help prevent germs and bacteria from building up inside products so you can touch them to your face all you want. Just don't share them w anyone else and you're fine. This includes skincare too!

The Rare Beauty blushes were the first (and still to this day ONLY) cream blush I've tried. I'd always been super scared of them before but I'd heard good things about Selena's blush. I love them! So easy to blend out and one bottle lasts me for months.

The design feature for people with chronic pain is actually making me tear up. Living with chronic pain is such a burden and the way simple things - like opening a bottle - can be painful is so discouraging. Struggling with stuff like that makes you feel so helpless it's just a reminder of everything you're dealing with, so Selena including that is so encouraging and caring to people who are hurting like she did. Kathleen calling the liner a felt tip when its a brush and saying its so easy 😂 this is why I hate that most companies do felt tips. I HATE them, I find it so hard to use.
Can you please compare the Rare foundation to the L'Oréal Infallible Fresh Wear 24HR Foundation since both brands are owned by L'Oréal (from what I've read)?
Kathleen I love you girl I’ve watched your videos forever but i can’t not ask anymore... why do you line your lips with so much pigment?? It changes the color of the lip product you put on after and it’s hard to tell the true color of it when you’re reviewing it 🥺 I get that’s what swatches are for but it makes it hard to see how the true product looks in contrast to your skin tone on your face
