@@victoriacrompton3760 She had an affair with I. Montand cheating on Simone Signoret just after she won her Oscar and had to go in Italia for a movie. Even not trying to hide it.
Those last couple of seconds where she politely smiles for the camera get to me. I could feel her shyness and vulnerability. Her little side glances. I’m pretty shy myself so I felt connected to her uncomfortableness but still trying to be nice. What a sweetheart.
YESSSSS! Now females these days just do too much to be sexy. Marilyn was a natural even before her minor surgeries. Some people just have that IT factor. Just like Celine Dion and Whitney are natural vocalists compared to Taylor Swift.
@@THEDOORIZCLOSED Taylor & Lana Del Rey gives me Marilyn vibe sometimes...especially Lana in most of her MV's..& in Tay's MV Wildest dreams she gave me a Marilyn vibe too.
She was just SO naturally sexy. Everything she did exudes confidence even though they say she was quite the opposite. I bet she didn't even realize how beautiful she was.
This thread is full of fools. One thinks she exudes confidence. Are you serious? She has the look of a shy and frightened sad girl. Someone else thinks she was a bad actress.... I D I O T !! She was a great actress who lacked confidence.
See how quickly she walked into the church.. as not to get all the attention on her! What a wonderful woman she was, classy, graceful, beautiful, humble ❤ I love you so much Marilyn 💗
It was definitely a glamour period but the stars were, at times, just as messy with their affairs. However, it wasn't as rampant as it is today. Social media and less censoring just has people doing whatever they want, whenever they want. I wish entertainment stars were considered talented humans who could have their privacy and dignity
Nicole Kidman doesn't even come close to Marilyn Monroe, you must be taking the piss.. Monroe is unique and in a league all her own.. Monroe was hot sexy and very attractive, Kidman is thin gaunt, and nothing sexy or attractive in comparison...as for Clooney he's no c lark gable..
As someone who was around then I just have to say not everyone dressed like this most of the time. This was the Christening of a movie star's baby. Naturally everyone attending looked as nice as possible and they all knew there would be photographers. i noticed Hedda Hopper and Louella Parsons left their brooms at home.
Look at images and film (here on RU-vid) of large city street scenes of from this era and earlier. Most people were well groomed and dressed. The slob mentality arrived later in the decade.
+Chris Packer I wonder too, we have all these clothing lines available yet we dress like bums for celebrations. I guess people back then had less but valued more and it was not necessarily to have new clothing for each new day. Now closets are full of trashy, bad quality things. I personally like to have a few durable items rather than closet full of trashy bags.
Marilyn still manages to steal the show even in her black suit and head scarf. She stands out in the crowd. But seems a shy and very reserved keeping to herself to herself appearing lonely. Her beauty is unquestionable here and she had lovely way about her. No ego here. Miss you lots Marilyn you were a one of a kind. Very sweet. RIP. X
Elissa Schornstein - yep, that big head of platinum hair floofed to one side tends to make a person stand out. Mainly because it's so completely unnatural bright like a searchlight, and luminous. But it was one of her "stocks in trades".
Thought the same words! I wonder why she wore black...hmm was there more to this brief attendance by MM to do with Clarke and the baby she longed for...
@@poppycrust6871 Unlike the others, she was obviously still in mourning for Mr.Gable. How strange that his own wife apparently was not, and less than a year later.
@@tessdurberville711 The mother of the baby was wearing clothes suitable to a christening; black would not have been suitable for the mother of the baby being christened.
I always wondered why they went away. In clips from the 50s and before, you could see almost every man and woman wearing a hat. Does anyone know why men's and women's hats went out of style?
@@TheVerbalVolley Can you imagine how filthy those gloves would be by the end of the day? And, what happens when you lose one of them--you're screwed and can't wear the other anyway. My guess is that these practical matters are why they fell out of favor.
She is utterely captivating, even in understated dark clothes she steals the show effortlessly, grabbing your attention, but not by force...one is drawn to her in a way that a hummingbird is drawn to a beautiful blossom....she was truly a one of a kind beauty-inside and out....love her
@@ryanborder189 And that is exactly why she darted in at the last minute and scuttled away quickly afterwards. She didn’t want to upstage the christening.
I so admire Marilyn's quiet dignity as she turns up, alone, for the christening of the late Clark Gable's baby son. In 1961, her own marriage to playwright Arthur Miller, of which she'd had such high hopes, was over. She was desperately lonely here! Having tried and failed more than once to carry a baby to full term, this cannot have been an easy occasion for her. Plus she was heartbroken at the recent death of Clark Gable her 'Misfits' co-star and a movie icon she had always idolised. Marilyn is beautifully turned out (love that chiffon headscarf!) and seems to not want to be the centre of attention. But how could she not be - she radiated star quality, yes she was beautiful but it was more than that - there was something magical about her. God bless Marilyn and keep her safe. It's so incredibly sad that her life on this earth was so short, and ultimately unfulfilled.
what is the fascination with Monroe? I don't get it...sure, she was pretty...sure, she was sweet, ...sure she had a tragic life...unfortunately there are plenty of others in the same boat., on all three. Average actress, sorry.
You don't 'get her' that's OK - we don't all get excited about the same people or things. But I hope you would acknowledge there HAS to be something unique and special about Marilyn Monroe, that she still holds such fascination over 50 years after her death. As you rightly say there are many beautiful stars with tragic stories - but they are not Marilyn Monroe. She didn't always get great movie roles - she was typecast as the dizzy blonde - but her talent for comedy shone out in 'Gentlemen Prefer Blondes' and 'Some Like It Hot'. I accept Marilyn doesn't do anything for you, that's fine. Millions feel passionately about her and she remains a superstar half a century after her death - whatever your feelings about her, that is one unique and amazing human being.
Denise Lowy: I think that what she 'had' sometimes defies explanation. I think it was something to do with her aura of innocence and vulnerability and her enchanting facial animation. However, I think that it is wrong of society to obsess the way it does and to try and 'canonise'. She was just a human being and many people who met her persinally found her very ordinary. ( in Kirk Dougles's words " Just blah".) Her gift was when the camera started rolling. Pure magic!
That women was the epitome of perfectionism and presentation, can you believe she's actually smiling and nearly posing for these rude people who shove their cameras at her face. She's truly an angel.
@@peg202xo7 You're absolutely right, Marilyn's physical appeal was on another level to most women - and certainly the women seen in this footage! I so wish Marilyn and her baby were the subject of this cine film. If only she had been able to conceive the baby she craved with Arthur Miller, even though she'd have raised it as a single parent, it could have been the making of her and the incentive to stay mentally and physically strong and healthy. Unfortunately like so many starlets of the time (Jane Russell among them), backstreet abortions in Marilyn's youth had robbed her of the chance to carry a baby to full term.
@kiranjit If you bleach the hair of an average woman, they will still not stand out. It is more than just hair or clothes. It is your overall looks and how you carry yourself.
umm idk..Beatlemania happened during this time around & they had hundreds of securities 24/7..i'm guessing there was no securities here bcuz it was a private gathering & it's a christening of an actor's child since there's no social media then people never go the word?
I feel the same way such a sad soul that wanted to be loved i I feel heartbroken watching these videos of her . You will be forever loved Marilyn ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻😭😭😭😭😭👄👄👄💋💋💋
Its so sad Clark Gable's handsome grandson recently passed away at age of 35 , he was handsome like his grandpa Clark, same blue eyes,R.I.P. both in heaven
Absolutely luminous! I would have sent two sets of cameramen and photographers so that the other team could have solely focused on MM. She was just stunning.
Marilyn looks so sweet and shy and elegant here, which was no small feat considering how poorly she herself was doing at that time. I am always touched by how, in many ways, even at this function and despite her thoughtfulness, Marilyn seems so alone among others and her showbiz peers. (Previous poster, Creat Swartz, the lady in the black outfit after Marilyn, was Fred Astaire's wife, seen accompanying him into the church.)
+Missditabomb agreed she does look alone and was alone minus perhaps her assistant or some handler... course there was also the fact that everyone was jealous her of her as well.... even old crone louella parsons was there, who first championed marilyn and then got on the bandwagon to try and tear marilyn down, along with THAT OTHER ONE hedda hopper..
yes, and the fact that press was saying she was responcible for Gables death due to Misfits lateness, the way she showed up by herself to pay respect shows they had her all wrong...
this was clark gable jr christening. His father had died about 6 months before. Marilyn did not attend the funeral of Gable as she was much too upset at his death and she was in NY, and the funeral was in Encino. She was extremely happy to have been invited to this event, as she had been led to believe Gables widow Kay blamed her for Clarks death due to the long waits in filming the Misfits and Clarks bad heart. Those rumors were untrue. She was in a hurry to leave this event because she was the biggest star and most famous woman in the world and with the press hovering around she couldn't linger. She attended the party afterwards at Gables house in Encino. The thing that really struck me is the event had all the Hollywood royalty you could have dreamed up in attendance .A who s who of Hollywood attended.
Margery McCardell It was decided that Clark's son would be named JOHN CLARK GABLE. I think his father would have agreed. John Gable's son is named C.J.
Margery McCardell Thanks for informing us on the circumstances. I had no idea she was so close to Clark and his family to be invited to both christening and after party, even though Marilyn's actions indirectly led to his death. RIP Marilyn and Clark.
Amazing.. no actress even come close to Marilyn Monroe... she had absolute presence and star power.. she walks in the heads start turning, and a superb actress..
I love Black, Its formal and who said It has to be worn just for a funeral, people wear black more now a days, so she was a head of her times, plus Its ok for a man to wear a black suit, so why can't a woman?...... she looked so sexy in It, I think she was the best dressed, she never dressed like a sick person.
The reason she wore black was because Clark Gable had only died the previous November - a mere 4 months prior. You will notice that another attendee at 2:26 who arrives with Fred Astaire is also in black and also wearing white gloves.
Chris Packer-Yes, I was just thinking the same thing. Everybody made an effort and looked so neat, chique and clean. I also love Marilyns relatively natural daytime look in this clip. For film she used about five shades of lipstick to give the impression of fuller lips with more dimension. Here she just seems to be wearing one coral shade only and just looks fresh, natural and pretty.
This is directed to Dorothea who said that it was inappropriate for Marilyn to wear black. As someone else pointed out, about half a dozen other women were also wearing black including the woman with the giant black bow shown arriving right after Marilyn. Marilyn looks lovely and demure. Disrespectful? Not at all. Marilyn almost always dressed in black or beige until she switched to the bright Pucci clothing shortly before her death.
Dear Lord even just a few moments of seeing her, she is absolutely and mind-blowingly captivating. The way she moves, her demeanour, grace...she's so striking. The fact that she walked in quickly and left quickly because she knew she would cause a frenzy...there truly will never ever be another Marilyn Monroe
Did you ever heard of the one who liberated the women, changed the woman's body, influenced legends who were in love with her like Elvis Presley, The Beatles, Eric Clapton...etc and her beauty was considerated devil by Vatican's universal expo? Brigitte Bardot.
She is a legend, maybe you are living in a bubble but who can forget the eyemakeup which every girl nowdays tried it or the choucrutte hairstyle. About the racist stuff: Yes, she is absolutely right! Live in France to see what's going on since many years ago. She is one of the rare people who tell the truth! If she goes over the line, she has the right to do it. Regards
Cristian Covaci Second, Marilyn left a (modest) film legacy while Brigitte didn't. Marilyn is not just famous for being Marilyn. She is still remembered today as a movie star and her legacy lives on. Some Like It Hot, Gentlemen Prefer Blondes and All About Eve are American classics. She worked with the top directors of the era : twice with John Huston, twice with Billy Wilder, twice with George Cukor, Howard Hawks, Mankiewicz and Laurence Olivier. None of Brigitte's movies are watchable today. She has a very weak filmography in comparison to contemporary French actors Catherine Deneuve and Louis de Funès who are still beloved and whose films are regularly broadcast on French TV at primetime. Viva Maria is no Les Demoiselles de Rochefort; Et Dieu Créa La Femme is no Belle de Jour; Babette s'en va-t'en guerre is no La Grande Vadrouille; Le Mépris is no Le Corniaud. She is outdated. The films she made are outdated. Even the name Brigitte is outdated. You've also given her undo credits... "the one who liberated the women" ? Seriously? I wouldn't consider someone who defines herself as a 'masculiniste', a French word Bardot described as someone who thinks that men do things that women can't do, as THE person "who liberated women". De Beauvoir said things about Bardot and women in general that Bardot absolutely do not believe in. In Brigitte's own words, she is not a feminist. "changed the woman's body"... Not really, she was a classic beauty who abode by the 50s standards of beauty - young, blonde, big boobs, long legs and hourglass figure. She exposed her body in a way no other actress did at the time, full credits to her for that. But she did not "change the woman's body"... "influenced legends who were in love with her" : there is nothing unique about that... Many artists have expressed their love and/or admiration for Monroe (but you probably don't know that because it's not written on her Wikipedia page), namely Freddie Mercury, Bob Dylan, Elton John, Salvador Dali, Norman Mailer, Jean-Paul Sartre, François Truffaut, Catherine Deneuve, Vanessa Paradis... and countless others.
What a kind, gracious gesture of Kay Gable to invite Marilyn to the ceremony and publicly show that she, Mrs. Gable, didn't blame Marilyn for Clark Gable's death. I imagine it was hard for Marilyn to be there and it was gracious of her to not draw attention to herself.. Clearly Mrs. Gable was Catholic but was Clark Gable also? He had been married four times before and divorced three times. This was before Vatican II. Does anyone know what Gable's status was with the Church?
+Andrew Brenda Clark Gable was I think, from a Catholic background but, was not a practicing Catholic . and what is this about Gables death? what do you mean Mrs. Gable didn't blame Marilyn for his death ? can you please tell me ? thanks
Star buono When Clark Gable died just after filming "The Misfits" there was talk that the stress of working with the troubled and difficult Marilyn Monroe brought on the heart attack from which Clark Gable died. Dealing with Marilyn may have been part of it but Clark Gable had a pre-existing heart condition, was a smoker, and had been changing a tractor tire when he had to be hospitalized and then died. He had health problems and pushed himself too hard physically. Even with the difficulties of filming "The Misfits" Clark Gable gave an outstanding performance, worthy of an Oscar.
Andrew Brendan - well whatever his status with the Catholic Church it wouldn’t have done him any good since Catholics don’t believe in being saved by Jesus, who died for our sins, all we have to do is accept this free Gift from God, the Father & repent our sins to Him. In addition, Catholics also pray to Mary, confess their sins to the priest, when all you have to do is go directly to the Lord himself!! Catholics are doomed, by the billions who will be separated from God eternally after they die, there is no purgatory contrary to what they think, There are no 2nd chances after you die, people.
John3:16 Pitbull - first of all, Iam not judging, just repeating what the Bible says ( KJV), don’t know what book you’re reading - catholics are not like Protestants, nothing could be further from the truth!! Catholics put up idols, which God says not to idolize by worshiping them, you Catholics believe in purgatory ( there’s nothing in between, it’s heaven or hell), your priests have molested thousands of children, nuns have killed thousands of babies - I have read & studied the Bible extensively - I believe as millions of us think, the fire at notre dame was God’s message against the satanic Catholics & that of the Vatican - why would I confess my sins to anyone when God is the only one who can forgive us?? You’re taking certain verses to justify your religion which is full of deception, hypocrisy & lies - you need to read the KVG ( King James Version) of the Bible, then get ready to open your brain to the Truth of salvation thru the Lord Jesus Christ
She radiated beauty and happiness, she was unique and there has been no one like her since. Wish we had stars like that today. Glamorous, charismatic and vulnerable at the same time.
Gorgeous MM clearly stands out in this crowd. She looked amazing after losing weight from gall bladder surgery and apparently loved showing of her new 'trim' shape.
I was about to say that Marilyn looked like an average woman in color film. The whole time, I thought she was the lady holding the baby! Then she came walking by with that gorgeous platinum hair. She was stunning!
I believe both Hedda Hopper and Louella Parsons were in the film. Marilyn looked stunning but you could tell she didn't want to deal with the other people or with this photographer.
How elegantly she is dressed and how elegantly she walks! With a simple headscarf, where most of the other women are wearing outlandish and flowery hats. Marilyn does indeed steal the show (and the only one in black). Gable's son will now be 62, as of 2023.
I know black is slimming, but Marilyn was such a tiny woman. She looks like a size 2 in this clip. That pretty scarf with the design on it over her blonde locks looked lovely. She was simply gorgeous! Bright eyed and bright smile.
A thousand years from now, Marilyn will be more famous and she will be more missed than she's now! Marilyn Monroe, I will always love you from here to kingdom come!
try and go to a christening ceremony in Milan Northern Italy and you will see us, ordinary middle class families, all dressed up as the occasion deserves. fashion changed from the 60s but there (here! ) one can still attend dressing properly and stylish without spending tons of money on outfits. it is a matter of taste, nothing more.
All eyes on Monroe. Where else would they be? Her charisma is off the charts and she wasn't even doing anything - just walking in and out of a church. Think about that for a moment.
His wife was pretty! So sad though that Clark was already gone when son was born!! Damn, how unfair. Would be good to see a story on the son (Clark Jr.) now. Never hear anything about him.
+wantobe She should feel guilty but I certainly doubt it. She was totally, completely, absolutely unreliable. A beautiful, potentially talented woman who chose, despite all that psychoanalysis to piss it all away.
+Diego Visconti Her therapists were messing her up more mentally and prescribing her so many pills. people didn't realize how bad barbiturates or other commonly prescribed drugs were back then.
Yes Diego she had gone though a number of therapists and all the drugs they prescribed were effecting her greatly. Do you know the side effects of chronic barbiturate use? Also you say she should have felt guilt about Clark Gable dying. That is a cruel thing to say. Gable had a bad heart and insisted on doing his own stunts in The Misfits. The weather was scorching hot. Yes, Marilyn's delays because of her pill addiction caused more stress but it wasn't something she did intentionally or out of spite. It took her hours to be able to function again after the doses of sleeping pills each night.
It was definitely a classier time. My friend and I go to Broadway shows once a month, and we ALWAYS dress up, wearing a suit and tie. Others seem to wear whatever they feel like wearing. Broadway is such a privilege to attend, and we feel that we should dress properly for the special occasion. I also see footage showing that people also used to dress up when they were riding in an airplane, and if you look at the old game show audiences, you will also see that they were always well dressed, with the men usually wearing a shirt and tie. I don't know how we got away from that, but we need to get it back. And the press was far more respectful of celebrities. Back then, they usually gave them some space, out of respect. Can you imagine how jostled around MM would have been had she been the star that she was in today's world? I would have been extremely worried for her safety. As it was, she was one of the few jostled celebrities during her lifetime. Also, she lived in a totally unprotected house, and no one thought of climbing over the wall surrounding it and invading her space. Now you have "fans" breaking in to the homes of celebrities, and paparazzi stalking them. I keep thinking of poor Princess Diana. The press inadvertently caused her death.
I like your post, you make some excellent points. But as an English lady (and journalist), I part company with your assertion the press caused Princess Diana's death. She was actually the architect of her own demise - the narcissistic Diana's poor choices, brought about her premature death at 36. After her divorce from Prince Charles, she foolishly refused to have royal protection (world class bodyguards and drivers) which as mother to the future King were her right for life. She compounded that error by not hiring her own security team, as her $22m divorce settlement would have easily allowed. But her worst mistakes were putting her safety into the hands of the shady Al Fayed family, who were clearly exploiting her royal status for their own ends. Diana's lover Dodi Al Fayed was a very poor choice, a spoiled playboy whose immoral father Mohammed totally dominated. It was Mohammed who made the disastrous security arrangements for that fateful night, and who employed a drunk, uninsured driver to transport the Princess of Wales. Diana's final, fatal error was to fail to wear her seat belt. If she had only been a responsible parent who gave her two young sons a thought and fastened it, crash experts are clear she would have walked away from the impact with no more than bruises and a broken arm.
@@TheVerbalVolley Thank you! It is a tragic story, and despite my implied criticism of the Princess I wish will all my heart she had been wiser and lived her full life span. God bless and have a great week! X
@@glamdolly30 You make some good points, but the bottom line is that if the press hadn't being chasing her, the driver would not have been speeding to get away from them. Diana had a right to live her life as she wanted and make her own choices, good or bad, as we all do, and not be judged for it, as long as it doesn't hurt anyone else. Charles is the bad guy here, cheating on Diana and breaking up their marriage. He definitely did something wrong that negatively affected Diana, his sons, as well as indirectly an entire country, where I'm sure the people of Great Britain were not happy to see the royal couple split up. The paparazzi is obnoxious, harassing celebrities just to get pictures so they can make some money. There shoud be a law preventing them from doing that. Makes me glad I'm not famous, I wouldn't like having photographers hounding me every time I went out in public.
St. Cyril of Jerusalem Church is in Encino, California and was our family parish. That is Father Lawlor, the parish pastor, performing the baptism. I started school there in the Spring of 1963. The church in the video is now the parish and school auditorium. This video brings back alot of memories. I remember the car lot across the street on Ventura Blvd. To the left of the car lot was Lloyd Thaxton's nightclub, the Peppermint Twist. It was very well known at the time. Further down to the right, was Merle Olsen's car lot and about a mile past that was Chuck Norris karate studio, where I would watch him give lessons.
My mom and dad were good friends with the Gables and it was right about this time that my family was invited to their home in Encino so we could meet the newly christened baby. I was so young, but I remember seeing the baby in his crib and talking to his mom Mrs. Kay Spreckles Gable. She was so nice. Clark Gable had only been gone a few months, I think. Sad that he didn’t get to see his little boy after he was born.
Back in the day, when home movies like this would be shown in the home, the sound that would accompany them would be the sound coming from the mechanism of the film projector. I miss that.
So nice to see the real Marilyn here. Sort of bittersweet because Clark Gable died 10 days after completing the movie that he made with Marilyn Monroe; The Misfits. Clark died in November 1960. His son was born four months later in March 1961. I’m glad Marilyn was able to attend the christening.
Marilyn did not arrive alone. I see Pat Newcome with her, (blue dress, sunglasses)who knew/worked for Mrs. Kennedy later on. Then when leaving you can see a teen Joan Greenson walking with her. Her dad was Ralph Greenson, Marilyn's psychiatrist.
1. Today, I doubt any Hollywood celebrity will "Christen" their child. 2. Today, if a Hollywood couple decided to "Christen" their child, not many would show up 3. Today, if a Hollywood couple chose to "Christen" their child, the paparazzi would outnumber personal guests. 4. Today, you certainly wouldn't see people dressed like this.
Yes sixty years have passed and this country has gone to hell. Gone are any bit of class. Style, decorum, ect ect ect. It’s pathetic what has become of houywood and this country as a whole.

And we wonder why there are so many shootings in schools and suicides! Disgusting!
The recently deceased Clark Gable's precious baby son John Clark Gable, and the magical Marilyn. Life comes in, and life goes out. What a poignant piece of real home movie footage. Anyone else notice the used car showroom across the road from this star-studded church christening? A fitting contrast of gritty real life, with glamorous Hollywood! At time of writing, that baby boy, John Clark Gable, recently turned 61 (his date of birth was March 20 1961 - 4 months after the death of his superstar father Clark Cable). Father and son died, and were born, at the same hospital. Tragically his only son, Clark Gable's grandson TV presenter Clark Gable lll, died of a drug overdose aged 30, on February 22nd 2019. Perhaps just as sad is the fact father and son were estranged at the time of his premature death. John Clark Gable - who had experienced well publicised drug addiction himself - told his surviving daughter he wanted nothing to do with his son's funeral, told her to have him cremated, and said that his remains would not be accepted into the Gable family crypt along with their superstar father and grandfather. Families are complicated, and I guess we'll never know the truth behind that terrible father-son relationship. But to reject your own child in life and death, seems extraordinarily harsh to me. A situation I've no doubt the late, great Clark Gable whose kind, gentle nature was frequently referenced by those who knew him, would be very sad about.
Just think, she died only a year later in 62 . I felt the presence of God at the end of The Misfits as they were in the car riding at night . Clark Gable told her to look ahead and follow that star!
It breaks my heart to see MM, star of the stars, arriving and leaving alone... she seemed so lonely. Plus she had to look happy to see the baby whereas she couldn’t have one of her own... nowadays, there would’ve been hundreds of paparazzi around. There was almost no one here....
I spent the whole time looking and waiting for Marilyn’s 10 sec screen time and it was more than worth 10 x 3mins 22 sec build up to that. It’s been a very good day already ❤
When there are group baptisms, they begin inside the church. In the case of one child being baptized it diocesan customary for the church to greet the family at the entrance. The question is asked: what is your intention, are you asking for baptism for this child and to promise to raise the child in the faith. When the godparents agree then you enter the church for the actual sacrament of baptism. At that time cameras of any kind were not allowed to film during the sacraments. That is why it seemed that it was so short.
I think so. And Fred Astaire is at 2:20....2:21 wearing a hat. He walks....strides in elegant and stylish and subtle. And of course Marilyn just before was so graceful and dignified.
His wife publicly blamed Marilyn for his death after the filming of The Misfits saying that long hours on the set waiting for her to show up made him ill. I think it is really unfair, Gable drank and smoked heavily which I am sure was the main reason.
IslandGirl 9152 didn’t know that but was aware of the misfits movie they worked together from watching biographies of Marilyn and she was consistently late to the set but agree with the smoking/drinking def not Monroe’s fault by any means.
Marilyn was modest, not wishing to be centre of attention on such an occasion. How elegant she looks, wearing black at a christening! I love her headscarf and the short white gloves. How could she not be the focus of attention!
