Man it was a great time to be a drag racing fan I was there I have been to over 100 national events.

Man it’s awesome to see the vintage coverage from our home track! Awesome to see the Martin Family and the Hitman Tommy Hearns as well! #TeamDetroit and to think this track was almost lost….so happy to have new owners for 2022 and a rebirth yet again 😎🤟🏽

I loved that era. Those were some of the best years. I grew up at Englishtown NJ which used to have the Summer nationals but they closed the track down 3yrs ago. So now the closest national event is at maplegrove PA. I was a big. Snake fan and a big Warren Johnson fan

It was funny listening to the announcers say at the beginning of this video how much the speeds have changed in the 2yrs with pro stock going 170mph & the funny cars going 240mph which is obviously extremely fast still but it’s absolutely crazy how far the I.H.R.A. & N.H.R.A. Drag Racing Series have evolved with Funny Cars & Top Fuel Rail Dragsters making roughly 12,000hp & the top mph record to date for a top fuel long dragster is 338.17mph set by Brittany Force on November 1st.2019 in Las Vegas & the top mph record for a top fuel funny car is 339.87mph set by Robert Hight in 2017 at the “Sonoma Nationals. Going 339.87mph is obviously amazing & something to be very proud of but dang it i wouldn’t be surprised if the next day or so Robert was saying to himself i was so so close to going 340mph lol as well as Brittany Force not too far off of going 340mph herself with her e.t. of 338.17 🏁 _-_ Cheers From Windsor,Ontario,Canada🇨🇦_ which is right across the river from the “Motor-City” in Detroit.
