This armchair was sold by Drew to another dealer in LA (for around £9,000) before being brought back to the UK. It is currently sitting in one of the living rooms of an historic Georgian home in South West England.
I think this chair has leather so old that sitting in it even a little would damage it. Wouldn’t it make sense to make replicas to furnish restored mansions with period appropriate chairs that could actually be used? After a certain point the word patina is just a polite way of saying something is right at the edge of no longer functional.
