The exact same Garrat type that operated over the Outeniqua mountains many moons ago and was used between Oudtshoorn and Mossel Bay if memory serves. A beast of a loco and just loved to follow it up the George side of the mountain, steam bellowing from it. Those were the days...💪😥
Wonderful stuff. Voorbaai depot near Mossel Bay. This was my last stamping grounds on steam. This clip must have been taken about 1980 when the GMAMs first arrived as I see a few old GEAs still around the shed area. The passenger train is coming in from Mossel Bay and will most likely continue on towards Port Elizabeth or Johannesburg
