The moment of totality, where the sun was completely blocked, lasted 58 seconds but the full eclipse event took place for over three hours.
A hybrid solar eclipse occurs when the eclipse changes its appearance between annular and total eclipse as the Moon's shadow moves over the Earth's surface, according to Nasa.
The next hybrid eclipse is due to take place in 2031.
