Made myself a pinhole viewer to watch the partial eclipse where l was(Perth,Western Australia) but realised l didn't need to because the sunlight through the leaves was making an image on the ground,perfect crescent images. Very cool.

It's so beautiful that the distance between the Earth and the Moon and the distance between the Moon and the Sun form two perfect "circles" in the sky, more than 100 million kilometers apart. Impressive

The real thing was pretty awesome. Didn’t get to see the sun, but it got decently dark and gloomy! The live stream was great as well!

and all that is now and all that is gone and all thats to come and everything under the sun is in tune but the sun is eclipsed by the moon (pink floyd dark side of the moon 1973)

That's not how it works. Solar eclipses have very narrow paths determined by the size of the shadow of the moon.

You wouldn't have seen it anyway... Too far out of the way.... There's at least 10,000 kilometers between you and the path of totality.

@CW-17 We have an eclipse coming in October on a Saturday morning starting around the 8 AM hour. I'm in Southern California. A narrow path will see a full annular eclipse, while we get a partial eclipse in California.

@Max Headroom October 14, followed by a total eclipse on April 8, 2024...I live in San Antonio and am in the path of both events...I traveled to Wyoming to see the 2017 total eclipse, it was an awesome first time event...

Ime hoping too see 2 Eclipse's coming up in 26 and 27 over the mediterranean, both are in the evening, with the path of totality on the 12th Aug 2026 passing over Spain and the islands of majorca and ibiza, great place for an Eclipse. And the Aug 2nd 2027 eclipse, watch out for this one, being the longest remaining of the centuary, the path of totality over southern Spain and Gibraltar (the monkeys will think its night time), just over 4 and a half mins.

There is a protective filter on the telescope lens to protect eyes from damage. Same goes for electronic equipment to prevent damage to the circuits.

This was a solar eclipse; only a few regions could see it when the moon either fully or partially blocked the sun during the day. You're thinking of a lunar eclipse, where the earth blocks the sunlight hitting the moon at night @Pinecone6442. There is a lunar eclipse coming for half the world to see around 2 weeks from now. We won't see it in the USA.

Because they cant get the time right for totality. They used to be so reliable for their info, but im very disappointed that they got totality timing wrong for today's live stream :(

@@juliegranzow8450 i don’t know, it’s fascinating?? If you do wanna see it though, buy some special glasses. I don’t think they’re very expensive. I don’t know this for fact, but *looking through a telescope even with the glasses may damage your eyes.* So just be careful!! By the way, I wasn’t yelling at you in my other comment! I was just making it bold, sorry if it looked that way, just realised!
