It's believed there are just five of the Cony Guppy that remain. 4,645 of these micorcars were built in Nagoya in 1961 & 1962. The company who manufactured them, Aichi Kikai Kogyo, were bought out by Nissan soon after the Guppy ceased production.

My dad's '74 Ford Maverick had a hand brake like that... Most American cars of the day had a hand brake pedal with a T-stick that you pulled to release it, but the Maverick had some features that came straight out of the 1950s

never heard of it but it looks cool and your videos are not boring amazing how people need to leave negative comments. Not saying he cat have his own opinion but what ever happened to the policy of if you have nothing nice to say say nothing at all. I could have my wording mixed up. but you know what I mean. most amusing though is those that complaint that a video was a waste of their time. thought they were never forced to watch it and no one forced them to stay to watch it all.
@wasabicars

Have you noticed that the steering wheel bar is on the middle? Maybe it could be a cheaper way to make a left hand drive version, and that missing panel is for putting the speedometer and all the stuff on the left. About the hand brake; it's good for an automatic, but i struggle on my ford because is a manual so it's annoying while climbing a hill :\ Hmm... Local celebration, maybe independence day, we listen the good old local music, and we enjoy our local food, it's something everyone does every day, but that day feels special :)

Physically I wouldn't be able to fit in this car. I guess even a midget would find it hard to get in. But it's a really nice car indeed. Now about the question. It's really hard to tell which day of the year is the cultral day for my country. I am from Bulgaria. I guess that would be the 3-rd of march - the national day of my country. I can also add the 1-st of march - Granny March (оr as we call it Baba Marta). Also the 6-th of may - st. George's day and also 24-th of may - the Saints Cyril and Methodius day (they were actually the creators of the cyrillic alphabet which is used by approximately 250 million people in the world). And again - thanks for the awesome video!

I love the Guppy! Ist time Ive ever seen one, and I know micros. Daniel, what brought you to Japan from Australia? Do you speak Japanese mostly ?
@wasabicars
@wasabicars 10 лет назад
It was my interest in martial arts/Japanese history that brought me here. I still do speak mostly English, but I'm speaking to Japanese who understand my English and I get Japanese back. It's complicated. My Japanese listening is decent but my speaking is poor & my reading/writing is terrible.
@2stroketurbo

I want one of those cars,here what I would do with it,I would put in a bigger 350cc twin in it with a 5spd gearbox,lower the suspension,so on.I like how it is a small pick up.It sucks here in the USA for what ever the reason we do not have these micro cars and they really should have them available,if you notice the auto sales are for the rich,the poor are stuck with little or no transportation options,these micro cars could change that

As a cultural day yes Australia Day is great but Anzac Day is the one I like the most and I feel represents Australia - mates fighting together, supporting each other, live together, shed blood together, die together. I don't believe the importance of remembering the sacrifice made by servicemen & women is emphasised enough particularly in schools (and now we have the PC police saying we can't celebrate it because we may offend some minorities). Otherwise great vid Daniel, enjoyed seeing the Grandpa Mighty Boy. :D
@wasabicars

Yes, that is a special Australian day. My Dad was in the army in the engineer’s corp for over 20 years and regularly goes down to the RSL to meet his ever-shrinking circle of comrades.

strange little car, would be awesome with a motorbike engine in it, lol, lovely cherry blossoms Dan, we've got the same one in our front garden, a pink double flowering cherry blossom, i've also just started a cherry blossom Bonsai tree, :) QOTD, i don't celebrate anything from our culture, the UK has a strange culture, mostly people getting very drunk and making an ass of themselves or fighting, lol. great video Dan, keep up the good work :)

Nice little microcar! Now are those wheels originals because they really look like the tiniest SSR Mk I rims I've ever seen and that makes the car even more awesome. ;) Dunno if any fellow Dutchmen already mentioned it, but my favorite cultural day is Queensday (or Kingsday as it will be starting from this year onwards as we have a king now) where we celebrate our royal family. Originally initiated by queen Wilhelmina to boost the PR of the royal family (her father was an exhibitionist and not a very likable king) but throughout the years it kind of became anarchy day. People just get drunk, wear silly orange clothes, do your own garage sale and every city in Holland gets transformed into one big rock festival. Of course the aftermath is a big mess to clean up, like in this photo: static2.parool.nl/static/FOTO/pe/16/2/9/media_xl_158799.jpg

To be honest, I never celebrate my birthday, I've never been one to get excited when that day comes, It's just another year closer to death, Sorry! That sounds totally depressing! But I'm not the party-type! Now, For 4th of July, Nope! I believe buying fireworks is just burning money, Though sometimes we do like to have a BBQ... Thanksgiving I guess we celebrate a little better... Though, I end up regretting it the next day as I eat too much, Then I feel sick! Sorry, Dan! I've never been too much into celebrating things...
