Just found the movie and series on Netflix. I didn't realize how much I missed this show. Started binging it again. Today's shows are crap...nothing will ever compare to shows like knight rider. The 80s produced the best series.
I guess because it sounds like Hill Street Blues on meth. Its depressing as hell. And then they filmed the show in the winter or something. It looks awful and a lot of the actors are really ugly other than the Hoff. Who always looks great.
Gabriel , that's because the new car just is not Kitt , Kitt is a Trans-Am not the new design. Kitt still has the futuristic look as a Trans-Am they didn't need him to have a new look.
Yeah I agree. I find it kinda funny when people say KITT is a Trans Am. The 4000 is based off the Pontiac Banshee concept, which was the precursor for the fourth and fifth generation Trans Am.
Well in ‘08 they didn’t make the Trans Am anymore. I think it was a good choice to use the Mustang (either that or a Camaro either one is ok) and not some Supercar. What I think sucked was that they felt the need to add a bunch of fucking transformers to it
@@klein2042 the Mistang was purely a commercial choice. Ford wanted to place a car. While I certainly love the Mustang it had absolutely none of the qualities that made the original car special. It also cost the show its original voice, which was going to be Will Arnett. But because he's the voice of GM trucks, he wasn't allowed. Costing the show something that it needed - a distinct personality. Oh and it sucked. 😂
I mean over all the car choice wasnt as bad but the fact it transformed was utter shite as if i wanted to watch transformers i would but i wanted to watch knight rider so that was the only bad part
@@ian9outof10 , well if they wanted Kitt's original voice then they should have brought back William Daniels who was the original voice of Kitt after all he was still alive at the time of the 2008 Knight Rider. and he is still alive as far as I know.
yeah, your right, just hearing the intro gives headake, btw knight rider 2000 isnt that bad,its actually good, yesh, definitely not like the first one,but it is actually pretty good
@@digitalmagicAR Baywatch had nothing to do with this pilot failing to get picked up by NBC as a series. David Hasselhof was written in as a guest star, he was there to add star power alongside Edward Mulhare. At the end of the movie, Michael Knight drives away leaving the female character played by Susan Norman and the replacement Devon character played by Carmen Argenziano to carry on with KIFT. The plan was to have the Hoff help launch the new series but not be a part of the main cast. This way he could work on Bay Watch and have the option to return to Knight Rider 2000 as a recurring guest star if needed in later episodes. Unfortunately, the pilot did not sell because it was basically a soft reboot of the original KR series pilot episode "Knight Of The Pheonix." The KR 2000 pilot cost $6.5 million dollars to produce. Because it failed to become a series it serves as a stand-alone 2 hour KR reunion movie.
@@1977TA That was what was printed in weekly TV periodical at the time but of course that doesn't make it true because the media has been known to have mis-information, so you may very well be correct. On a similar note, someone wrote in to the same periodical in the early 90s asking if there would be anymore Star Wars movies and the answer was no, that Lucas had stated they were too expensive. Yet that ended up not being correct as well. At the time of KR2000 airing I cut out and saved the ratings printout of the Knight Rider 2000 TV movie. It rated pretty high that night but now I cannot remember how high? #2? #4? I like your name, 1977TA, the 77 and 78 Trans Ams are among my favorite cars
@@digitalmagicAR Indeed Smokey and the Bandit cars are kick-ass. I was lucky to have been born in 1977. It was the year that gave us Star Wars. I'm a huge Trans Am fan and it's nice that I share the same model year with one of the most legendary Trans Ams.
The actor Edward Mulhare was on borrowed time in real life. Thankfully he got the opportunity to give us a curtain call appearance in Knight Rider. His character was written out just in case the movie launched a series they wouldn't have to worry about Devon. Mulhare was in no shape to commit to a recurring filming schedule. He died in 1997 which would have been during KR 2000's 6th season.
I know! Going to KR car meetups you can see the iconic Pontiac Trans-am and the Ford Shelby-Mustangs, but where is the weird orange Pontiac/bottom part of a boat car? Also has anyone heard of Knight Rider 2010?
Why the characters of Bonnie and Reginald (played in the series by Patricia McPherson and Peter Parros) did not appear there and why there is never any mention of what they have become (a bit like they never existed) ?
That car is owned by video Bob is all I know of his name. If you watch his u ou tune channel he talks about how long he had that car. And what it was used for after and before that kitt thing.
Little known fact that the Knight Industries Four Thousand was actually a concept car for the late 90's and Early 2000's Pontiac Trans Am. They ditched the rear end design and the front wheel drive as well as some front end changes to get the 1996-2002 Pontiacs we know and love
Here's another fact for you. Pontiac refused to loan out their original concept vehicle so the production staff created a reproduction for the Knight 4000. The vehicle was later reused as one of the vehicles for Power Rangers Turbo.
@@jwg5774 And another....They didn't want any IP being associated with the movie also, not just the actual cars, and so they insisted whatever replica they came up with couldn't match exactly and no reference made to their brands. This was intended to avoid a repeat of marketing and publicity issues during the original series. There had been talk of additional movies after this or a possible series which never came to pass.
I think Knight Rider 2000 would've actually worked as a series. The movie was pretty good and kept KITT alive while keeping the storyline fresh by introducing new characters. The new Knight Rider shows however just did not have the "it" factor for me.
I like the movie. Unfortunately the car was a dodge stealth not a pontiac Banshee. Rumor has it, at the time this movie was released, David Hasselhoff (Michael Knight) actually owned the original KITT.
This opening is absolutely horrendous. Just compare with the original, aestethically beautiful and MYSTICAL, epic opening in the dessert. That was so stylized and iconic! This here is just lame. And this music is vomitingly bad. Knight Rider 2000 was a painful disaster.
