RARE LARGE SCALE RC Dornier Do 335 (Engine front and back) WWII FIGHTER FORMATION FLYING
Only seen this aircraft as an RC model once before but this version is a nice big scale and flew so well at Weston Park International Model Show with several other fighters.
The Dornier Do 335 Pfeil ("Arrow") was a WWII heavy fighter built by the Dornier company. The two-seater trainer version was also called Ameisenbär ("anteater"). The Pfeil's performance was much better than other twin-engine designs due to its unique "push-pull" layout and the much lower aerodynamic drag of the in-line alignment of the two engines. It was Germany's fastest piston-engined aircraft of WWII. The Luftwaffe was desperate to get the design into operational use, but delays in engine deliveries meant only a handful were delivered before the war ended.

I've got, and have had for years, a "made in the forest by the elves" RC version of this plane, (made in chiiiiina). It's a blast to fly, stable and fun. It will actually carry up to a 4 cell, 7200 MAH batter which means it will fly forever, (or so it seems.....LOL). I love it, one of my favorite planes to fly.

That's about the riskiest thing you can do with R/C airplanes is to fly formation with 5 planes like that. The risk of in-air collision is huge with R/C.

Some risk certainly. Not too bad if there is a lead pilot talking the moves to the others and they fly nice and smooth. They didn't attempt formation loops, which do have a high collision potential.

At WOD we have had I think 34 in the air at once, all WW1 which has slower speed so more doable but the risk is there for sure. Google Warbirds over Delaware mass launch. It’s 1/4 to 1/3 planes mostly with occasionally a larger plane.

Very nice model and flying job. From what I have read and seen in videos, the Do 335 was, significantly, probably the fastest prop driven plane of the war. We allies probably should be glad it was not put into full production.

Hi, I have for some years an unassembled plast model and I'll attempt to use it as a basis to scratch build a foam r/c eletric model, using perhaps two 2822 motors I've bought and never use them... thank you for posting, as the full scale thing, too fast compared with another planes...

Wonky Retracts on the 335... Front strut also wiggled badly (to and fro) during takeoff run. A bit of a landing gear rebuild suggested.

If you take off the props , to put a jet engine and cut the wings into short triangle and you have yourself a Mig-21 Foxbat.

Now that _is_ unusual. I've only ever seen this aircraft in an ancient Jane's and as a static display model. To be honest it's as ugly as sin but supposedly it was a highly efficient system. Nice one

Mr Dom I come across this odd looking German Arrow WW2 Fighter and I has Really Grabbed my Interest ! Very off character for me I usually only consider US or UK Aircraft! Do you have any experience with one of these German Arrow or know anything about them in RC Version, I got to say no matter what I find I simply look too Essential R.C and There it is,That one of Many Reasons Essential R.C is the Best ! And the Reason I so want to be a Member! Some one that doesn't even fly RC can get the Shirt, I Want to be a member ever if I am the member that lives to far to so up! Will that Stop my Chances of becoming a Real Legitimate Fee Paying Member ???

I've seen the damage a propeller can do to fingers & it's devastating! That guy is asking for a world of hurt, reaching over a propeller with loose clothing dangling down. That's how accidents happen, not to mention setting a extremely bad example for younger flyers!
