As a UK enthusiast, I have ridden this ride multiple times and the first drop is phenomenal, easily the best this country has to offer (on the back row). The rest of it is ok but nothing special, good views, height and speed, not very intense apart from the drop, glad you made this video ❤❤
The Big One is a one drop wonder. It has some amazing views on the top of the lift hill and a great and intense first drop but the rest of the ride feels slow and sluggish with no forces and just rattles you about in places and hits hard on the mid course break run which then at feels like snails makes its way to the final break run. It's 74mph but my god it feels like it loses it's speed right after the first drop. Rest of the ride feels 50mph at best with again no forces.
I know Alton towers removed their older coasters like Corkscrew,Black hole,Thunder looper,Beast,Alton Beast,Alton mouse.Pleasure beach needs to do the sameto get people back.I like HSTs too.@@iliketrains3546
Yes! Thanks for making this video. The new track sections on the Big One are so much smoother than the parts that haven't been replaced. Unfortunately I've not any good rides on this coaster yet, I've found it a bit boring and not having much airtime, but that could just have been the day I visited. Great video 👍👍
Great video! This coaster reminds me a lot of Magnum at Cedar Point. Its a shame what happened to Arrow and X2 wasnt more worth making for them than it was.
Been on the big one more times than I can count! It's such a fun coaster!! Only problem is due to it's location it's often closed when the wind gets too high =( I like those banked airtime hills. They make things a little different from the standard layouts.
lift hill hasn't been replaced, also the sections that have been retracked, specially the last bit under dipper and over the old entrance are abysmal, they have changed the profile and its worse than ever with some very uncomfortable kinks that shouldn't be there... and yeah air time there is definitely not other than on the drop at the back
You missed a interesting part. The Big one was disigned by Arrow but not build. It was build by the same company that is now retracking it. Not 100% sure ot that but The big one is a UK build coaster.
As a local I really hope they demolish it soon and build a new hypercoaster. The Big One is a pretty boring ride imo. Granted I've been on it way too much but with recent technology it could be replaced with something so much better!
As an American, I am sincerely hoping you guys are able to finally get some airtime! The UK coaster market seems to be desperately lacking in both the airtime and length department lol
@@Bikitninji I’ve actually heard mediocre things about Icon, even from local enthusiasts. It doesn’t even look to have as many airtime moments as Magnum does.
@Quix yes magnun has alot and I actually haven't ridden icon as I'm Swedish, but on my trip to alton towers I knew that the smiler had this one bunny hill that is basically illegal it's that powerful. That's what airtime should be.
The lift hill hasn't been retracked. The dip into the brakes, the two dips before that and the section through the final tunnel were all retracked over 4 off-seasons.
