Dear Kaylee, I have been taking care of an anthurium Cutucuense for about 1 1/2 years now. What I have learned from my "trial and error" experiences is that the cutucuense requires a change in temperatures from daytime to nighttime. During the day, it gets a maximum of 22 degrees Celsius at my place and 16-17 degrees overnight. Since I took it out of the "warm only" environment, I have had no problems with growth. One Anthurium that I think should also get more attention is the Pedatoradiatum. My absolute favorite at the moment.

Too many hybrids of papillilaminum here in Indonesia, the one is popular right now is Blue Papillilaminum. Dark with bluish tinge (kinda purplish though). Beautiful indeed.

One day, Rare Pant Index on Sansevieria, Scindadpsus, or Rhipsalis? I live for these videos, they are my favorite from you! Wanted to comment before my comment got buried! Love your channel! I blame you for my collection being so much larger. The peperomia and hoya did the most damage on my wallet!

Would love a Sansevieria or Rhipsaslis! They each have a few that are super common and a lot that are rarer. I have 14 varieties of Dracaena "Sansevieria" trifasciata and then 12 species "Sanseveria" and I have 7 Rhipsalis. I would love a list to get me looking.

@@ArthurGrey. I also never really hear her mention them. I mean, I know I’m not entitled to hear her talk about what I want, not by any means. I know her collection is mostly aroids, but when she did her RPI on peperomia, man, I fell in love with them! I got one of the top ones because of her list! It’d be interesting to see something that’s outside of her comfort zone, like peperomia.

Total random guess about why people don't grow the Veitchii as often is maybe they think the "abs" of the leaves means it's more of a corrugated plant, and since corrugated is picky, people avoid it. 🤷‍♀️

I have been growing several villenaorum for about a year or so, and I would say that they become darker/normal contrast when they get a bit larger and they tend to prefer lower light levels. They're quite robust, ship well, and have very thick leaves that can jump up in size quickly. If you want a low drama longer(ish..) velvety anthurium, this is the anthurium for you.

completely agree on your assesment of clarinervium being a very promising (and underused) plant to breed with. Actually built up a collection of different anthuriums to work with clarinervium and forgetii. Fingers crossed i'll have some seeds growing this time next year :)
@jamiehou9448
@jamiehou9448 2 года назад
Just wanted to mention incase you didn't know - clarinervium doesn't cross well with quite a lot of anthurium and I believe forgetii is on that list. I don't remember the specifics but clarinervium is a part of a sub group (sub genus? idk) of anthuriums from mexico I think and doesn't cross well with anything not in that group. Don't quote me on anything but please do some googlin!
@plantwhisperer2506
@plantwhisperer2506 2 года назад
@@jamiehou9448 thanks :) yes, already figured clarinervium might be a bit of a tough one, as well as forgetii due to the way they protect the new leaf (if that makes sense) and the base of the leaf stem. Clari has the new leaf in a separate sheath, like villenaorum. Forgetii has it completey inside the last leaf, while the crystallinums got a little sheath at the base of the older leaf it emerges from once big enough. Know a few ways around some of those issues though, so i'll certainly have fun trying to go where others haven't gone before :)

The A. clidemioides have the most amazing texture. Extremely rigid leaves anf very corrugated. I got mine autumn 2021, and it hasn't done jack shit. OMG so I have no idea what it is but I am the worst with crystallinum, killed every single one I ever own, yet I manage to keep my regales alive which most people say are significantly harder, so weird! Also, I am one of the lucky ones to have a wendlingeri and I paid a pretty penny for it, but I think it actually is quite easy care and grows fairly well if given enough light and heat. The only thing I will say about it is that it is a bitch to propagate and takes forever to recover after taking a cutting!
