Sockermonstret nick owns almost half if not half of these he knows allot about them hes bringing a new one home every week he even has a few rare ones not mentioned in the video
@@sharpestdart ive paid 150 for a monstera albo but I won't go over a £100 for a plant now. well thats of 9,30 feb 2022, who know what I might pay next month if I see the list of wish list plants for sale lolol
A Sansevieria RPI could be really cool. I only ever see maybe 4 snake plants that people own, but I've seen some really neat uncommon/rare ones on Etsy and it would be cool to see what else is out there!
I love that you did this list, honestly I don't like having anything even potentially toxic for my cat around (even though he doesn't usually chew on plants, I just sleep better at night there's no chance for anything happening) and peperomia are one of the few houseplants that are non-toxic. And from this list I got the picture that it's actually a very very variable genera and I'd definetely find like 10 or more I'd like to have... So you're the reason I'm looking more into them. I think they would go well with my only houseplant fittonia (I have lots of plants, just not houseplants :) ). So thank you, will add on my "if I come across buy" list. If you ever get a peperomia in your shop like the variegated water melon one, I'd just buy it :D
Oeeeh could you do a rare plant index on Jewel orchids?? :D you will love those. Its not a genus though. More a group of plants with the same characteristics.
I was so surprised to see moonlight so high on the list, here in Australia they're pretty easy to find, about the same as the rosso. But it's one of my faves, I adore mine
Yeah I was a bit surprised too especially since I picked one up the other day from my local Woolies (a supermarket chain for any readers who aren't Australian)
Oh really, what state are you guys in, in the ACT, the only peperomias I’ve seen have been in IKEA (it might have been a puteolata, but I’m not entirely sure), even Bunnings had basically nothing.
Omg yaaaas. Love these! Hopefully someday we can get a Syngonium plant index 😁 I’m suddenly suuper into those cuties. Thanks for the awesome vids Kaylee Ellen!
This is the first Rare Plant Index where I have seen considerable differences between what is rare for you in the UK vs me in Canada. The obtusifolias are EVERYWHERE both variegated and not. The silvering looking one that looks like a caperata is also super common along with the rosso. A lot of the rest though I had never seen. The rain drop is not common at all here. I don't think I have ever seen it in store actually! Super neat. I love peperomia!
I have a Japanese variation of the caperata pink lady and it's only pink during spring and summer and goes green for the rest of the year! It also has leaves that are thinner and pointer. So beautiful though!
I would LOVE to see a rare plant index on Kalanchoe. There's so much variation in them and they're so pretty. I went down a rabbit hole a couple weeks back on them and I don't think I've even scraped the surface.
Dude there are so, so, so many different orchis species and hybrids it would be difficult to list them. Many if she did one for phals, one for oncidium, and so on
I've had a peperomia kimnachii for a year or so now and had no idea what it was until this video! It's super weird but easy to care and fills a nice low light spot.
Oh this is so interesting, as a person who collects Peperomia in the Northeast US. My “commons” here are Peperomia pixie lime, obtusifolia, clusiifolia, and caperata... never seen a ferreyrae or dolabriformis anywhere. Thanks for covering peps!
Dana Tribbia people in the states are looking for it! I can’t find it anywhere over here and no one in Australia I can find that sells it will ship it to the US 😭😭😭
I have the "red log" peperomia and she is precious :). Not messy at all. Very tidy. And the scandens leaves feel like silicone.. :). Thank you for this!
I am rewatching this while making my updated wish list and I have to say, I kinda love peperomia? Am I crazy? I love my aeroids but these are really cute.
Thanks Kaylee Ellen! I love Peperomias and have several of those on your list. It's nice to discover new ones I had never heard of! I fell hard for Peperomia antoniana, that one is now on my list thanks to you!
I’m so happy you made this video! I am a rare plant collector. I cannot find any of the rare ones in the US. I want the rugosa Aussie good so bad. If anyone has rare Peperomia connections let a girl know!!!
Peperomia are some of my absolute favorites! I have so many. That trinervis bicolor looks so much like the terrestrial orchid Goodyera pubescens. I am not done with the video but I have owned the pink caperata and although it was stunning, you may want to look into peperomia griseo-argentea 'pink lady', it still has the pink but also a nice cream, silver and mint mottled variegation as well and the leaves are ruffled. I love the caperata but the griseo-argentea just has it all going on. If you like the rugosa, check out peperomia harmony's great pumpkin. And I am unsure if the moonlight is the same as peperomia 'frost' but they look very similar, super icy.
Pep Puteolata is a joy to own. I couldn't get the care right on many others that I tried. Puteolata is pretty easy and a prolific grower. I bought one in a two inch pot with three tiny stems in the spring and by fall it filled a six inch hanging basket.
I was hoping I would watch this and find some cool peperomias for my wishlist but seems like they just aren't my thing! Love Philodendrons, Anthuriums, monsteras, Hoyas, calatheas, and begonias but something about peperomias doesn't do it for me 😂 Great rare plant index as always though 👌
I so love my houseplants, love watching the rare videos! I'm so basic though I love the common plants, and this video has just pushed me over onto ordering the watermelon one - they are SO cute! Will be placing an order tonight lol
Omg! I actually own one of the very rare peperomia and I honestly didn't know it was rare! I think it's the only Peperomia I own? Got the Peperomia Ecuador Sp from a local plant shop. ( I've got a thing for dark foliage and red undersides apparently) several leaves died on my very quickly but I think I've gotten the hang of it now. It is quite a fiddly plant but when you find what works it really works!
Drunken Homemaker sadly they usually dont look like that the ones i see for sale only have pink specs all over it nothing as extreme as the picture in the video
When I was a kid, like, nearly thirty years ago, pepperomias were in all the stores that had plants. Now, you barely ever see them around here. When you do, it's Watermelon plant.
I'm in Australia, and I can't remember seeing the first two common peperomias. The raindrop is also not easily available at the moment. You can find it, but it's not everywhere and definitely not in Ikea. Scandens is available and the Argyreia (so cute, love these), Obtusifolia, clusiifolia (got one and I agree, it doesn't make me happy either!) are all available. Rosso is available (I kill these and they're very pretty). I've not seen the Maculosa or the Vericilatta. It's so interesting how different plants are common in different places.
I have 9 peperomia and will have many many more but the clusiifolia is not one I like either. I have seen many times and kept on walking. I really love them and they are so easy to take care of. Hutchisonii looks like a coral! Crazy
Peperomia is my favourite. Caperata has many colours and patterns that are so fun to collect. ( I really don't like aroids and can't understand the fuss.)
I've had a Ruby Cascade Peperomia for almost a year and adore it. It's now a least 2 feet long. I need to give it a haircut :P And I just got my first watermelon peperomia today!!
Thank you for this wonderful video. I want to get a Peperomia so bad. Now since I saw your video now of course I want more than one. Your videos are so awesome so keep up the great work that you do.
Oh god I need a Peperomia Water Melon for my collection now, after every one of keylee's videos I find another plant I need im a Philodendron , monstera , and Hoya lover but I might just need the water melon sooner rather than later.
Omg i was looking at if string of turtles wondering why it was so reddish dark in the veins!! Thought mine was just young, def going to go buy it tomorrow
Spiced by Maggie keep looking! People are selling them as regular string of turtles because they don’t know they’re different, I just snagged 2 cuttings!
The peperomia verticillata that you said was elongated was in fact elongated! Many give these things the same light as other peperomias (bright indirect) however these are meant to take full sun like a succulent. Thats like if you put a cacti/succulent in an eastern window. If you look up the peperomia, you will see a lot stretched and reaching for the sun, however there are a few in there that are compact and short that recieve full sun. Mine recieves full sun and is nowhere near that stretchy.
It's always interesting watching these videos to see what is and isn't common over there as opposed to where I am in nz. Some of your common ones we don't even have at all and then some of your rare are everywhere here. For example the raindrop (polybotra) we didn't have until it was released about 4 months ago and before that it was impossible to get and hundreds of dollars for a cutting.
Eeeek!! I have the Caperata Pink Lady!!! I was super excited to find a single pot of it left in our nursery (South Africa). There was no doubt in my mind that I would bring it home. It is definitely a plant that turns me into a helicopter plant mom. The pink variegation, as with any other variegated plant, makes it not as hardy. So far so good, but definitely has adjusted to the space it is in my house. It is less full than when I bought it, but still alive and making tiny little green leaves!! Slowly...
I've only seen String of Turtles once in my life and I bought them. Mine are apparently the dark form. Who knew? I thought they all looked like that. I adore the Peperomia clusiifolia. I can't imagine why it's not more popular, but your video gives me a clue. Influencers are gonna influence, I guess. More for me, I guess. For those in the US, the Peperomia verticillata is currently available at Walmart for $2. They are leggy unless you're at them, pinching and grooming, but the real payoff is the contrast between the top of the leaves and the undersides. Mine just glow.
I have one Peperomia that is not on this list and I can't find it anywhere on the internet. Is a bit similar to the watermelon peperomia but with much bigger leaves and much darker. I hope I can show you a picture of it!
I have a kimnachii, it's actually one of the three first plants I got. And I don't understand why I have this plant, this is a really weird looking peperomia that needs a lot of sun. I cant' say I really love it but it's kind of funny.
I have the Fagerlindii and it does have kinda velvet leafs. It is a bit tricky to care for but for the most part it's easy. I love how it looks. I found a 8in trailing pot of it randomly one day but I have never seen it again
Dear lord I have so many peperomia and I can't get enough. Incana is my fave (SO FUZZY!) but my caperata pink is doing pretty well. And staying pretty pink. So, WIN!
When you cut the Peperomia Verticillata between two nodes four new shoots grow from where you cut it. That way you can make your plant look very bush actually 🌿 Cuttings grow roots very fast as well
I had my moonlight for less than a euro in a cheap terrarium (that I love) , I had no idea it was rare , lol, i've been propagating it a lot . But I realize now that I had never seen it anywhere else, it's like my monstera yellow variagated ... I bought it as a regular monstera for 5 euros in lidl , and it started poping up yellow variegations that I mistook for watering mistakes at first. hahaha.
Backintime Alwyn hi! Would you be willing to trade a cutting of of your yellow variegated monstera? one of my family members have wanted one and I want to surprise them for there birthday! I have a lot of pretty cool plants you might be interested in, and I’m located in the uk! My Instagram is basically_stringer ! :)
@@classicreptiles6365 lol sorry I got this wrong , I must sound really stupid , the stains really looked like variegations and the leaves came out that way ... but...the plant died , I don't know what happened, I guess they were not variegation :p either way we could have find someway to exchange but we live in different countries. Best wishes to you and your family.
It's so interesting seeing how plant availability differs in different parts of the world. Obtusifolia and Tri colour are soooo common in Australia. You'll find them anywhere.
Oh cool! I picked up two plants that were labeled as P. graveolens, but they don't look like tacos at all, and now I know they're P. verticillata! They're very compact so far, but they're also wee, so it'll be interesting to see if they stay compact as they mature.
