Embracing a materialistic, non-theistic worldview in its full logical scope implies that all phenomena are inexorably governed by natural laws, leaving no room for alternative causal factors. Moreover, attributing stochastic properties to randomness within quantum physics presupposes a consistency in these laws, thereby establishing a basis for what might be perceived as chaos. If, however, randomness were to operate independently, subject to spontaneous change, it would imply that the natural laws themselves are not fixed but variable, thus challenging the very possibility of obtaining stable knowledge. The materialistic worldview destroys the possibility of knowledge in the justified true belief tradition of epistemology because knowledge claims assumes our ability to freely reason and weigh the evidence. The fossil record actually doesn’t give the evidence you think it does.
