Back in the early 90's I worked as a machinist with a Panther tank gunner named Otto Shaefer. He had a lot of stories. He had terrible burn scars on his neck and arms from when his Panther was hit and caught fire. He thought it was rockets fired from a fighter plane. He fell into the snow and was captured by Americans. He spent 6 months in an American hospital saving his life. The first thing Otto told me he was not a Nazi but a German soldier doing his duty.

I feel like a lot photographs/footage of the war from the German point of view got lost or destroyed when the war ended and the years after...alot of this I have never seen before...so with that, thank you to those who preserve and share footage like this

Very well done video. No shortage of brave men on either side of war. Grieves my heart seeing the faces of all those young men going to their deaths fighting for a political madman.

German tactics & Soldiers were second to none & very professional & thier bravery against overwhelming odds at the end.Alot of German Aces & Generals & senoir staff serverd in Nato after the war like Von Manstein,Adolf Garland,Heinz Kedeurian etc usually after a few years in jail.They had skills & knowledge of tactics etc to teach to Nato & other Countries if there was a war with Russia.

that's one thing missing in war movies, it's not loud enough lol these sounds are incredible

otto carius awsome - what an army-just took on too much

Soldiers which were all heroes , best army forces which ever existed at that small budget, best generals of all the times, best engineers, scientists and technology producers, genius leader ... but too many emotional choosen actions

Great footage, it amazes me why the Germans built these amazing tanks with naturally aspirated gasoline engines, unbelievable, but effective.

Great stuff.

I'm no fan of Germany or German militarism, especially the Nazis. You have to respect the German soldier and what they were able to achieve. This is a great tribute to that soldier.
