I noticed the last name on your post. I have ancestors buried in Confederate graves in Arkansas. Just curious! No need to reply cousin.

Hopefully soon things will lay out a bit and I can focus on sharing across more platforms. I’m always worried about the fate of history, there is such a concerted effort to erase and debase it.

@Peter Okeefe54 True that! What’s interesting is in 1860-1861 when southern states began seceding from the union, the north put together what’s known as the “Corwin Amendment”. This stated that “any southern state that had seceded, should they return to the union, they may KEEP the institution of slavery in their state..” That doesn’t really sound like the north was very eager about abolishing slavery, now, does it? Furthermore, in 1861 Lincoln himself was not that aggressive about the slavery issue very much either. When the hostilities and fighting began and many thousands of northern troops were getting killed, many many northern families did not even know the reason why there was a war to begin with and for what reasons the north was fighting.. Lincoln then made it that the slavery issue to be the main “causative reason” the north was in the fight. The irony is, many top brass in the union opposed this, and they also opposed having black soldiers eventually conscripted in the union. In addition, many white soldiers in the union army and navy opposed having blacks in their ranks. People think the union was the black man’s “friend”. Well, let’s see here.. Black soldiers were segregated in union camps; blacks were not paid the same as whites of the same rank; blacks were given less quality food rations; blacks were treated more harshly than whites for insubordination, and black regiments were often used as cannon fodder. Yeah, and schools teach that the north was the black man’s “friend”. Most schools teach with a leftist biased slant anyways and make it as if slavery was the ONLY reason for that war. Wrong. The average southerner could not even afford slaves, and rest assured, they sure as a hell were NOT fighting and dying so that the more affluent southerners COULD keep their slaves! There is so much BS taught in schools about that war it’s amazing.

Very well said and all truth to it. Keep up the good work. It's a shame what our education facilities have turned into. I'm tired of them teaching and pushing there agendas down our children's throats and we be made to feel like we should feel bad about our Southern Ancestry. Never! I tell my children all the time to be proud of who you are and be very proud of your Confederate Family members that fought and died for The South. God bless you my friend.

Just prior to the war, only 6% of the South still owned slaves. Over 80% of those who fought in the Confederacy never owned slaves nor did their families. Not all slave owners were white. An 1830 census showed over 20,000 slaves owned by other free, wealthy black men. Out of the "white" slave owners, over 75% identified as Southern Jewish ancestry. Many had additional homes in Northern cities where they would regularly transport their slaves back and forth.

Because it was legal...n the confederate/ Democratic party controlled the majority in congress until Abe won the presidency and the abolishonist/ Republicans gain the majority which the caused succession because the Democratic party was all about slavery where they created their own country know as the Confederate State of America with Jefferson Davis as their president...I will leave a awesome link ...I might of fucked some of that up...

They do sort of look similar, I am trying to research more into who the men in the videos are.

I believe (still researching) In Mississippi national reunions were held in Jackson in 1937 and Biloxi in 1930, 1946, and 1950, Virginia Reunion was 1951, and the last Gettysburg Reunion was 1938. Again, I am still researching and always scouring local, state and university archives for more footage (there is so little available) I think I have about 15 more minutes worth of really rare GAR reunion footage for next week, and maybe grand total 30-40 minutes worth of footage of vets. Wish there were more, it’s such an amazing glimpse into the past.
