I'm from New York and I got put on to Ras Kass late..when it came to west coast music I was only checking for NWA (Eazy E, Ice Cube) that "G funk" (Snoop, Dre, Warren G) and Rider music (MC Eiht, S.C.C "Murder squad", 2pac)..What made me check for Him was His verse on Rza's "Bobby Digital" album..He killed that shit.

This interview came out of nowhere, nonetheless this is great! Shout out to Ras Kass man. The Soul On Ice album changed my life when I first listened to it. I kept that shit on repeat from Track 1 to 13 with no skipping and it would definitely amp me up while playing Mortal Kombat Trilogy back in the day lol. Superior and complex lyricism, so many quoteables and punchlines and crisp production. Of course SOI was the superior album, but Rasassination was a slept on gem too. What made Ras Kass stand out as an MC was that he was versatile in style and had the ability to Rap on different types of beats. A lot of MCs/battle rappers have superior rhyming skills, but when it comes to making songs and switching up their style, they become 1 dimensional which is disappointing, but when I heard Ras Kass on David Banner's 1st solo album Them Firewater Boyz 2000 on the song Spazz Out, I knew from there he wasn't to be fucked with at anytime.
